Manitoba Black Bear Hunt

Remote and scenic boat-in camp where we stayed in a comfortable cabin on a beautiful island. This felt like a fly-in fishing or hunting experience. We did a lot of walleye fishing during the day and caught crazy numbers of fish. We hunted in the evenings. Cory Grant runs and monitors several bait sites and has an excellent reputation as a bear outfitter.
This truly was a special father/ son hunting trip and the goal was to get my oldest son his very first black bear. The big advantage of these bear hunts is that these hunts are much more affordable than many big game hunts and you don’t have to wait to draw a tag. This hunt is prefect for a new or beginning hunter.
Baiting is necessary in this region because of the topography and terrain. Hunters need to be able to determine the age and sex of a bear where you cannot see into the bush for more than twenty yards. Bears are also notoriously difficult to track so shot placement is extremely important. Baiting gives hunters the opportunity to make clean and ethical shot in such dense terrain.
With either tree stands or ground blinds, this provides a perfect opportunity to sit with a young or new hunter and enjoy the experience together. Watching the excitement my son had after harvesting his very first bear was definitely a highlight of my hunting career.
