I think that most people are making a big assumption about Burt being dead. Michael Gross said that he loves doing these (even at his age), and we haven't seen the body. This is what I call an opt-out. Most long running horror series have them. It's kind of a "wait and see if we can get another installment" scenario. Personally, I think this one was the best installment since the third one.
Welp RIP Tremors series we had a good run...unless Kevin Bacon comes back
I'd rather have a reboot with practical effects than a Tremors 8 without Burt, just saying
Yeah, I gotta agree with ya, it's not going to be the same without him, but let's be honest Burt want to stop hunting graboids since the start of this trilogy, and well if you're gonna go out, might as well go out with a bang, which in this case was very literal
Honestly I'm just glad we finally got the Shriekers back, sure they didn't have much screentime, but the screentime they did have was great
As far as I am concerned the series ended with the fourth film. All three of these new films make even the third film, the worst of the ones by the original team, look watchable by comparison.
I think the new ones have some redeeming qualities (mainly Gross) but I can agree with this testament

Not happy about the big twist ending here and, yeah, let the franchise end right here. Even at its worst, it had a good run and no need for more.

Ok the fact that Burt Gummer gets eaten while literally flipping off a literal graboidzilla cuz that bitch was seriously huge for a graboid that (no joke listen to the roar) makes the literal same roars as Mighty Joe Young from 1998 I thought was a funny way to kill him. I agree it’s sad that he’s gone cuz he’s been part of the legacy since 1989 (if you watch the end credits of the very first movie it DOES NOT say 1990) but his death in 7 was typical Burt Gummer: over the top.
I hated this movie. It was disrespectful. Burt deserved better.
I enjoyed it but ya. That ending. Supposedly though, Michael Gross has said that if they want to do another one soon, as long as it’s decent he would be interested in coming back. But his age was mentioned as a factor

Of all the recent sequels, this one, I think, is the best of them all. Sucks we'll probably never see the classic creatures again.
