9:50 there's some logicsl eror, we shouldn't compare established bands which found their sound to "generic" djent bands which are still in the process of finding who they are. P.S. You can clearly differ Meshuggah from Periphery, Tesseract etc. These are mature bands with their distinctive sound. I belive in the golden trash metal era there were as much generic local trash metal bands out there.
As someone who plays on mostly death metal bands it depends, I guess my new band is more old school death thrash focused because those riffs are fun, the other stuff is like no brains just swedish worship and the rest is like experimental in genre /style / or technque wise. The best thing about death metal is literally that the genre is so wide spread that it can sound fresh if you take one part from the spectrum and mix it with another part or so what ever...❤ Best genre ever just sayin
I've always liked thrash, but I've gotten super heavily into it in the past year. Municipal waste, Insanity alert, gamma bomb, Lich king. Super good shit.
Also very into the Swedish stuff. In Flames is one of my all-time favorite bands. I don't think people in the west really understand how huge they are over there.
But for my Serious comment, over the years I've gone from Downtuned stuff back to E standard fucking thrash. Insanity alert, gama bomb, Power Trip, sounds heavier to me than almost anything that's downtuned. Riley's voice, Blake's guitars are just gnarly as hell. Municipal waste and Iron Reagan Crush at E standard and e-flat.
Archspire is awesome. I love Dean and Claire's videos. The only thing about them to me is just that Ollie's vocals are way too fast for my brain sometimes.
Mendel and Scott are some of my favorite Engineers right now. Mendel's thrash video's one of the best things I've ever heard. Think I'm going to start quad tracking now.
