    About the Drum Technique Academy:
We help drummers to quickly develop the technical skills necessary to play along to their favorite songs and shine at band rehearsals and live gigs.
We strive for the perfect balance between detailed technique tutorials, short workout routines and personalized coaching and feedback. To achieve this balance, we follow a philosophy built on six core principles:
    1. Results - student results are the main thing.
    2. Focus - clear guidelines on what to practice.
    3. Simplicity - do more with less.
    4. Discipline - freedom comes from discipline.
    5. Improvement - get better on a weekly basis.
    6. Joy - if it's not fun, you are doing it wrong.

Its Da-vid! My man! Thanks Marthyn, love to hear from the best! Can't wait to see who's next!
Its funny how many of these mistakes I made when I started out. I was practicing 8+ hours on the double bass and David is exactly right, if you're having a bad day just throw in the towel. I can't begin to tell you how much time I've wasted trying to get things perfect on a sh*tty day and all its going to do is frustrate the hell out of you.

@@SamiK1989 That's the way to do it for sure. I even noticed a few times I went out of town or something and didn't play for a week or two and was actually much better when I started back up so sometimes taking a longer break doesn't hurt either, it can actually help. Good luck with the ankle technique, its a lot of fun!

Instant follow for bringing him several times over years. David is an amazing drummer and it's great that more people can learn from him. We didn't have this kind of opportunities back in the day.

In your opinion what do you consider an inexpensive pedal? I’m a beginner on double bass and am looking at pedals such as the used Pearl p2052c Eliminator for around $350 USD. Is that a decent beginner pedal?

    • @drumtechniqueacademy
      @drumtechniqueacademy  Год назад +1

      Yes that's a good pedal 👍

@@drumtechniqueacademy thanks brother! It’s a toss up between that pedal, which is a duel chain drive, and the Yamaha DFP-9500D Direct Drive. Which do you think is better? I’m using an e-kit in my apartment so I don’t necessarily need power

It is very strange to hear that it takes only 20 minutes a day to practice push pull. I practice push pull for at least 1.5 hours a day, am I doing something wrong??

The first video I have ever seen from David was his, "Dead set on suicide" from "Cattle Decapitation" drum cover! However, I have commented on every video I have ever seen from him, and I "used to" look up to him! But I just feel like he has progressed kind of down a negative road, at least as far as his appreciation for "fansgetting a taste of being paid for your talents, I just got the impression that he feels like he is too good for everybody now I hate to say it because I idolized him... Anyways, What does my opinion matter? I just wanted to express that to people!💜

He took the time to do this interview and allowed me to share all of this for free...don't get
a "too good for anybody" vibe from him... I personally think he's awesome and a down to earth guy 🤟

@@drumtechniqueacademy I would hope anyone for that matter "as far as conversing with you" wouldn't require payment! Anyways, when I see people I like, or admire. I try to study that person's way of carrying themselves and how they interact with others. I think the way you respond to your fans, is extremely fulfilling and flattering! And I just didn't see that response coming from Dave anymore. (I'm going back approx. 2 years.) However, If someone has the time to record, edit, and upload a video..Then take a couple minutes to drop a Few words of small talk with a few commenters. It'll go a long way for some people! (Again, these are just my own thoughts and opinions)
