Is it possible at lower levels to compete dance with two females? As the boys/men seem very outnumbered i know this happens commonly amongst ballroom dances etc... but is it allowed in ice dance? Or would they have to compete as a solo dancer until a male partner can be found.
Great question, this is starting to happen! This season the ISU labelled the steps to the dances as A and B instead of Ladies and Men’s, the solo dancers have to do a sequence of each pattern in the higher levels and it’s definitely going to be a thing to have same sex partners soon! It will be super interesting to see the dynamic, the music choices and program themes for these!!
Excellent explanation and demonstration of the holds! For a future video, could you please show some basic progressives, swing rolls and chassee’s (sp), with a focus on where the pushing foot/leg goes so as not to kick your partner, and who leads or trails when on the inside or outside when turning left or right? Thank you for another great lesson/video!
As a side note, are these blades (dance blades?) the same ones you use for your freestyle videos? I assume most adult beginning ice dance students just dance in their freestyle blades?
@alistairkok these are Jackson Apex Synchro blades - they are a hybrid blade between freestyle and dance. They are dance length but have a freestyle toe pick for jumping!
I’d like to do a partner lesson on here basics of controlling partners and exercises in each hold. I have all these moves solo, next video that should be 👍🏼 see if I can get one for partners 👍🏼 not much out there is there
I would really like to see more tutorials about ice dancing. There are already more than enough about freestyle.
Agreed 👍🏼 not much at all for dance I will try to 💃🏼
Saludos desde México 🌎🙂👍⛸⛸
