I received one of these yesterday. I ordered it after watching this overview. I looked through my 'wire box' which is in a storage facility, couldn't find one with high enough voltage and all that. Then today I went into my boot for some things I had left in there and noticed an old Energizer rechargeable setup I've been meaning to bin. The power adapter for that? Perfect. 16V, 4A out. Amazing luck. :)
Very clear all the way with explaining each detail. I wish everyone was as detailed as this. Leaves me with no questions, you have a new subscriber. Peace!
Amazing video ! Bought my first RC Car, with 6500 mah Lipo 2S 50C, and fast charger. So your video was great knowledge for me. 3 things want to ask. 1) I already charged twice my battery on balance mode, but never heard BEEP or "FULL' on screen.. Voltage read 4.20 for both cells for few minutes and so I thought I better unplug everything or else I might over charge. Should I wait more, or whats wrong here ? 2) Can I charge it at 6A since I have 6500 mah battery ? Or even 5A ? Both time, I did at 3A only as precaution. 3) With fear of going below 3V low, I want to install buzzer or beeper in my RC Car so that I can stop playing with it on time. How to go about it ? Any video showing how to do this ? Thanks again
Glad it helped. This unit should not overcharge mine never has, I use it so often I would know ;-) You can only charge at the rate of your input, mine is 4amp. here is a video that might help ruclips.net/video/vCiKpWnrpq8/видео.html cheers
Hi Tigger's RC Reviews. At 5:00 you speak about the charger being rated at "5A MAX" for current, and you point out you are using a "4A MAX" power supply. That would actually be an error, as the supply has to AT LEAST be able to supply the Maximum the charger could draw, otherwise you may experience voltage drop on the supply causing undue stress on the chargers voltage regulation circuits. IMO It's really important people at least gain a basic understanding of the differences between Voltage and Current ratings on devices before they start playing around with Batteries that can Explode!!! I am new to RC hobby, but I have been doing Electronics since I was about 9yo, I am 39yo now, thanks so much for your informative video, but please make sure you're explaining things correctly, I certainly will be checking out some other videos too, to make sure I have the right info before I go buying things. Cheers.
You can use a notebook power supply that matches the voltage of the IMAX B6 from what I saw. In fact I did buy the two (charger and power supply) just a few days ago.
Hi Tigger, no-one seems to have a video on how to wire the outputs of the iMAX B6 V2, to charge a Hubsan Drone's LiPo 4200mAh 11.4v 47.9Wh battery, since it has 3 cells and 4 wires. The IMAXacB6 has 3, 4, 5, & 6 outputs; but the iMAX B6v2 only has a 6 pin conductor plug, plus the (-), (as well as the + and - output). I can't seem to find any videos or manual diagrams on what the balanced outputs would wire to, on the Hubsans' red, white, white, black wired cable. Any Idea how I should wire it?
at 13:04 you stop the balancing before showing the voltage values of the individual cells. How would it look? I've heard, that the ones with higher voltages (the one that will be drained) start blinking. With my imax b6 (40 euros, amazon prime) that does not happen....all the cells just seem to change voltages randomly up or down every few seconds. starting values for my s5 balancing were 4.05 3.93 3.90 4.20 and 4.01. after 120 minutes it ended saying 463mah have been transfered and the new voltages are 3.95 3.93 3.87 4.21 and 3.93. what could be the explaination?
Having to connect the Deans as well as the JST indicates that individual cells are taking the combined current of all cells in 'balanced charging' mode. This will shorten their cycle life. Perhaps the 'balanced wires' are connected to a simple 'top balancer' module that discharges a fully-charged cell (keeping it below threshold) while waiting for the others to catch up from the high-current charge on the Deans until the target serial voltage is achieved. A true balanced charger would have 4-wire connections to each individual cell. Charge and voltage detection.
The balance charge lead does have 4 wires for a 3s battery and the deans connector is actually what enables the charger to connect a bleed resistor circuit to each cell as required. Hence, it is a true balance charger. As each cell reaches nominal voltage it can be kept there while other cells are finishing their charge.
I have one like this and everything works except, charge in balance mode and balance battery . Work couple seconds and then on the screen at mah shows 0 and stay like this hours . In simple mode charge in series reach's at the end, but in balance mode charge or balance battery do nothing . You tasted yours it's ok ? Thanks
Just a note while watching this great video: Input (12v DC) is not "MAX 5A". It draws more current as it needs it and if you read it from the manual and it said something along the lines of "Max 5A drawn from mains socket" it means exactly that. Max amperage draw from your input source is 5 amps. :) This of course means that you can use basically any power supply that is 12V and 5A minimum to charge everything at all amps. If you would charge at max power the charger can output and you had a 4A power supply. The power supply would cut out at 4 amps and the charger would turn off along with the power supply.
QckSGaming , you are not correct, the Imax B6 charger shown here in this video only charges at 5amps max or 50 watts. That is the maximum battery charge limit you can do with this charger. It will not draw more than 5 amps period. Hence why the lower cost. 5 amps is the limit of charging power for this model of charger, please read the manual. Other more expensive chargers can charge your batteries at higher amps or higher wattage. If this is what you need 5 amps maximum charge rate, then no reason to buy a higher priced charger.
I think you are, not wrong TheAarowsmith, but misunderstanding the previous reply. QckSGaming is simply saying that.. The INPUT ampere rating is 5 MINIMUM (not MAX), if you want to achieve the total charge rate capability of this unit and that any external power supply that can deliver 5 amp or more will be needed and be suitable (subject to connector polarity requirement).
I was unable to fly. I balanced my batteries and drained them with the storage feature. A few years passed. they wouldn't charge at the normal amp rate. It wouldn't start. I used a lower rate and it started. They came back, in perfect balance too. This is a good video. I don't have a bag but use a ceramic pot on a cement floor. I once saw a lipo set a car on fire. Went through the seat to the ground.
You omitted a couple of key points 1. While charging and storage charging you can note the balance charging voltages for each cell this gives an indication of each cell life. 2. When charging several cells at the same time(parallel charging) you MUST ensure all the battery packs are of a similar voltage at the start
Thanks for the great tutorial. I was a bit nervous beginning the drone hobby because of the learning curve of the battery charging - this video made me a lot more confident. Thanks!
@@thepenmen22 I regretfully sold all of my gear when I was in a tight spot financially. Since recovered and thinking about getting back into the hobby. I think your reply on a 1+ year old comment might be a sign for me to get back into it
Very nice video. My genuine SkyRc IAMX B6, is on the way from Banggood. I've been watcing lots of videos and have a question - After charging, say 2, 1-cell 350 mAh batteries at 0.7A, will the charger "buzz" a sound when they are finished?
Excellent video. Just thought I'd let you know that if you're on balance charge you can check each cells voltage by pressing the status button and it will show each cells voltage while charging. Your videos are always great and I've watched every one of them. Thanks
Well a big thanks for the comment and a medal for listening to me talking for so long ;-) And an extra thanks for the info on cell status, just makes this bit of kit even better, thanks again, more on the way :-)
Hello, thanks for this quite informative video. I've storaged my mavic air drone battery with a very low voltage for about 2 months, I think it completely ran out of charge now it doesnt even charge when I plug in the original DJI charger, is there a way I can recover this battery, using something like a balance charger, or is it gone forever?
Thats really dangerous mate. In order to do that, you must have been charging at 10A. Thats crazy charging amps!! You shouldnt be charging a 5000mah battery any more than 2.5A.
@@JammoJay I bought one as well and in a lot of reviews on YT I saw ppl advice that we can charge the batteries according with their capacity, like it has 2500mah so we should be able to charge it with 2.5A, I'll research more now cuz I don't wish to damage my battery soon
I would like to charge my Soshine 9V 6F22 Li-po battery with a Imax B6 Mini. Need advice on the 2 cells socket cables for the balance socket. How do i wire it to the 9V 6F22 battery. I have no idea how this goes. The li-po battery only has a plus and negative, no wires sticking out.
Thanks for this really helpful video! I have a question, I have installed SkyRC ChargeMaster and it requires to set both Charge and Discharge amps. I understand how to calculate the charge A of my lipos, but how do I know what the discharge A is? Can you help me?
Glad it helped I have not tried the Chargehmaster I have only ever discharged at the rating of the battery ie 500mah discharge rate 0.5a my charger will only discharge at a max of 1.0a anyway. I very rarely discharge with it as it takes for ages I just run the battery out on a quad or car ;-)
Whats the difference between this unit and the B6AC V2. You said you shouldn't use the battery once the voltage gets below a certain point, how do you know when you're flying your plane when to stop?
I’m new to lipo. If the lipo battery charges from the wire with white plug 4 prongs say. Why do lipo charges come with all these plugs. Ex. Deans, trx etc?
Great video, I have some LiPo batteries for my Yuneec Q500 drone, they are 3s /11.1 volts. I left them charged for several months, didn't know I should have put them in storage mode. what should I do NOW? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I would just run them(fly them) and see what happens you usually lose flight length, I've done it with some of my Typhoon H ones, not the end of the world, happy Yuneec flying :-)
Thanks for your video it was really helpful! Do you know if there are multiple chargers (like the ones for the 700mah batteries) for the big ones which have the yellow plastic connector (3000/ 5000mah) ? How many of those batteries would be okay to charge at the same time ?
Why do you have to connect the battery to two ports. meaning one for the deans and one for the smart charger function. If you do a balance charge shouldn't you disconnect the deans ?
Just the way most good chargers work, I assume they can throw more power to it through the deans(main) cable(good gauge cable) and then balance using the balance cable, just my thoughts. BTW it wont charge unless you have deans(main) cable attached ;-)
Great tutorial but my I-max didn’t come with the deans lead I had to buy one separately of which the company I bought the I-max off ended up paying for as all my batteries are deans. I’ve had the charger sat since Monday and I’m waiting for it. I’ve not been able to charge my lipo’s and run my cars I’m very frustrated with it all!! 🙈
I have IMAX B6 but all I have is a 19 volt charger I wonder if that's too much. I tried it once and it felt kind of hot but I don't know if that's normal
Hi Tigger, when using the multi cable for charging the single cells (all150mAh cells); do the cells have to be at the same state of charge before charging or very close to each other? Is it possible to over charge any of the cells. If I’m charging 4 x 150 mAh cells I would set the charging current to 0.6A ?
Yes they should all be around the same level of charge. You can only over charge a cell if they are at very different levels of charge. Hope that sorts it for you. Always be careful with charging any lipo, search YT for Lipo catch fire for the scary stuff. Cheers
Thanks Tigger, I have a Lipo bag and I use the temperature sensor I made on the battery when charging with the Imax B6. I’ve learnt from watching your videos great stuff.
to balance charge .after flying to get battery down 50 percent. the charger will climb up to the correct level is this correct oh i keep wanting to ask do you live in Britain thanks
The charger will balance the cells and charge to correct levels, then stop charging, it bleeps as well, hope that helps. Yes I live in the very top part, Scotland :-)
if i charge a 1500 battery at 0.8mAh the battery is going to charge to that rate ? or it is necesary that i charge it at the same rate it says in the battery
Great video man. Just one question. When you want to store your battery, you suggested to just go and fly the drone to lower battery. What happens if you fly it for to long and therefore you need to charge it again for storage. Do you still use the “Lipo storage setting”?
Hi there, quick question is it normal for it to spark when I connect the banana deans plug to the lipo batt deans plug? It's a small spark between the deans plug. I connected first the charging plug then my batt. Tnx for ur reply
I have noticed it a couple of times, but rarely TBH. I usually connect battery etc then plug into mains, don't know why but seems to be the way i do it. Sparks always make me nervous so anything to avoid them ;-) I like the fact if any connection is wrong the charger gives you a warning so i guess what you have is normal
Dear sir, when im charging my 1000mAh 20C 11.1V battery on 'the Balance charge mode, it shows Li3S 0.3A 12.60V BAL (time) 00023 how come it doesn't show 1.0A on the screen? is my battery dead?
CHARGE is charging the battery. BALANCE is balancing the battery, meaning it'll be balancing the cells inside the battery (hence 1S, 2S, 3S, 4S, 5S etc). So that all the cells inside a battery are equally charged. That's a short, user version for you:) Fire away with questions if you have any.
Hi Tigger's RC Reviews I have this exact same charger and I would like to know how to use it to charge my B&D cordless drill battery. The charger for the drill battery has packed up and I bought a new battery for the drill, NiCad, (as I originally thought it was the battery that was at fault), which I now need to charge using this charger. The drill voltage is 18V. Should I charge the battery at a higher voltage than this? A reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Hi, I'm quite new to the hobby and wanted to ask if you should do a storage charge every time you're not using your single cell lipos. Do the batteries have to have been used and low voltage before you can storage charge them ? Thanks, P
If I'm not using a LiPo for more than a week then storage is supposed to help, I've not done extensive test but that sounds about right and the way I use mine. You can use the charger to put them in storage but it takes ages and is not as much fun as flying ;-)
Hey Tigger! I'm new to r/c flying and i bought this same charger but i didnt know how to actually charge something. This video helped a lot, but at 12:28 i understand the first number on the bottom of the screen is the elapsed time, but what is the second number and what should it go to? How do i know my battery is fully but not over charged? thanks!
Hi Dylan, glad it helped :-) the second numbers at the bottom are how many mAh it has put into the battery and the final amount will depend on the state of the battery when you placed it on charge. The battery should never be overcharged as the charger slows charge rate down until it is charged correctly. that assuming you have a genuine one and not a fake ;-) I use this to check my batteries goo.gl/RRcCNS and I did a video on how it works here ruclips.net/video/vCiKpWnrpq8/видео.html hope that helps even more. It's a great hobby and community, enjoy :-)))
quick question... how do and what would i use to power on the unit? the instructions didnt say anything but how do i get power to the unit so i can discharge my massive 8000mah 3s lipo for my xmaxx... please help.. thanks -pete
Hi, very informational! I have an old Sony notebook power adapter, which says it outputs DC 19.5 V and 4.1 A. Will that notebook adapter work to power the Imax B6 charger? Thanks
My main concern was the fact that my notebook ac adapter outputs 19.5v and on the side of the imax B6 seems like it only accepts up to 18 v. But thanks for clearing that up for me! :)
+Moises Moraga Hi sorry I read your voltage as 12.5 I can check what ones I use at home when I back after weekend, I would use it but it is your call and always safety first, sorry for confusion please tell me it's not old age :-)
Just ordered the Imax B6 mini. Been toying with the idea for a few months but you have sold me on the idea. Hope it works the same as yours as this video is replacing the instruction manual lol
+matthew hillman Hi Matthew, no pressure on me then LOL actually the manual isn't bad but loads of other stuff it can do and TBH I just want to charge and look after my LiPo batteries the easy way and fly more often. If you have any problems I will help if I can, it's a good bit of kit. Thanks for the comment
+Tigger's RC Reviews Sorry to be a pest. If I wanted to charge a 1S 280mah battery, should I choose 0.2A or 0.3A? I am trying to avoid burning my kitchen lol. Thanks
+matthew hillman Hi Matthew, not burning down kitchen is a very good move ;-) I charge mine at .3A just check battery does not get warm, I always keep checking, all my batteries, as they charge. Technically you should charge at a 1 rate but .3a is not even 10% over and I have never had a problem. If you have several 280mAh batteries I would get this lead goo.gl/AkxBBK. Hope that helps
Hi mate. When the balance charging battery is fully charged, would there be any warning, alarm or indicator to tell me that it is fully charged? How do I know if it is fully charged? Do I have to discharge the battery before I start to charge the 3s, 4s battery every time? How long it takes to charge the 3s battery? If I just charge the 3s battery straightforward without discharge it, would it harm to the battery? Do I have to plug the cable XT60 to the output if I don't need to discharge the battery?
I never discharge my batteries, you only need do it if you are putting it into storage ;-) Charging takes around an hour. imax stops charging when complete and shows FULL on LCD display. You have to connect XT60 and balance cable to charge ;-)
Hi,I just received my imax b6 today and I was a bit confused on charging a single cell battery.I have a 650mah battery with a JST cable.Do I have to buy a 5 in 1 to charge it or can I charge it with the wire it comes with.If I don't have to buy the 5 in 1 charger how would I put 650mah on the charger.I would really appreciate it if you could reply.Great video by the way
This has been my frustration with having so many drones. Storing all the 3.7v (single cell) batteries. I only have a couple of 2 cell. Never sure when I would be flying each drone again? They can sit for a long time. If I did not "storage" charge them - OK if they were left as NOT fully charged? Again, most of mine are the small 3.7v JST plug type single cell ( 150 mah - 600 mah)
+Tigger's RC Reviews I have one on order from: www.quadcam.ch/shop/ for $25 coming from Sweden. Carolina Dronz carries one but they've been out of stock. There's a guy on eBay selling them but he's asking over $50 a piece. Which is ridiculous.
Can i charge that same zeee battery on a non balance charger with out using that safety battery bag because wanna give my kids some rc cars the rc cars will be running those batterys will it be safe battery charger i have takes 5 to 6 hours to charge a lipo battery from flat to full
Hubsan H501S High Edition Quadcopter What lead do i have to buy to charge the hudsan H501s battery with the Lipo Battery Balance Chargier like the one you are showing
I'm assuming you mean rechargeable ones because recharging standard aa or aaa can go bad. I would get a separate nitecore or similar charger that's built with cradles to hold the battery and proper safety and voltage checks for those cells. You can get 4-8 bay nitecore chargers for $15-45 and they are great quality. imrbatteries.com has a great selection as well as battery cells too.
hi there , ive got a syma x8hg ,will this charger be ok as the battery has a banana plug on it and i coudnt see the adapter for it on your video , many thanks .
Thank you for your quick reply , and for the video's you have posted , they are very informative. I will have to order that charger now . Have a great new year .
+Voldemar D Hi glad you enjoyed it. TBH I have not had any bad experience with any of the batteries I have bought, I don't usually buy the manufacturers ones as they always seem a lot more expensive. You have to be careful of any LiPo battery. Hope the Tarantula is going well :-)
+Tigger's RC Reviews Hi Tarantula is the way, but I already have a plan to build F450 (www.aliexpress.com/item/F450-Quadcopter-Frame-w-APM2-6-2-6-6M-GPS-2212-920KV-cw-ccw-30A-SimonK/32452812560.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.328.YQVq1M ) & (Radiolink AT9) but I will wait until the tarantula that would learn normal piloting))
hi great video. can you tell me how to charge 6 AA NiCad batteries in series with the imax b6 ? how do you manually set the cut off voltage? what should you set the charge current at if each battery is 1500 mah ? thx
Hi Zac, you got me on that one, i have never used it for charging NiCad's so really can't help :-( Hope you get it sorted, glad you enjoyed the video , cheers
just bought this charger and a couple of 2S 2200 batteries, and wanted to put them on storage charge, but when I did so the voltage just went up from 7.57v until the charger pinged and said the battery was full. Is this correct or do I have a problem?
Hi, I have one final question I hoping you can clear up. I understand that the charger has current charge rate of 6A max. Does that mean I cannot buy a 6500Mah or 7200Mah Lipo battery? Will the imax B6 not be able to charge those batteries?
Hi Moises, not a problem I have had as I don't have any batteries of that capacity. But I would have thought you will be fine it will just take longer to charge as it can only output 5A, you quoted 6A but I guess that was a typo. Hope that helps
Thanks for the help! Actually my imax B6 mini has a max of 6A. Maybe the new models have a max of 6A like mine :). So I'll charge the batteries at 6A with no problems, just will take longer... Thanks again for your help!
Very informative. Did you research the bags? I'm not sure if they can be trusted. I use a metal box, but hope to find a bag that is trustwothy. Thanks.
I dont't get it I set my balance charge to 1.7 amps and my battery is 1.8. when I charge the battery during the process it goes down to 0.5 amps. I need some help. Secondly do you recommend lip charge or balance? Oh and when I used lipo charge it would deliver 1200 amps in my battery but my battery can store up to 1800 amps
Hi!I have batteries for JJRC H31 and H36.Lipo 3.7 400mah and 150mah.They have a really small plug,i guess micro JST.How can i charge them with this charger?Maybe attach small cables to the alligator plug?
I use this cable goo.gl/jJ4mun seems top work well or just noticed this one goo.gl/yjW8Bd which may be even better as will balance cells individually, but only does 3 at a time

Buy Laptop charger from 12 to 18V max 5A.
Small question, why I can only select max charge current to 1.0A?
Sounds like you are in discharge area then you only get 1amp normal max charge rate is 5amp

Hi, sorry not come across that one and have no idea why it would not balance charge, hope you get it sorted, that battery sounds all over the place
Oh ok
Thanks
So should I balance the cells before I put the battery into storage mode?
Do you put the charger in the fire proof bag also ?
Just a note while watching this great video: Input (12v DC) is not "MAX 5A". It draws more current as it needs it and if you read it from the manual and it said something along the lines of "Max 5A drawn from mains socket" it means exactly that. Max amperage draw from your input source is 5 amps. :)
This of course means that you can use basically any power supply that is 12V and 5A minimum to charge everything at all amps.
Forgot to say.. 5A based on a 12v supply, 4A is suitable using a 15v supply
Should of read comments first lol
Please tell me mate what does smart charge on this charger do??
I was unable to fly. I balanced my batteries and drained them with the storage feature. A few years passed. they wouldn't charge at the normal amp rate. It wouldn't start. I used a lower rate and it started. They came back, in perfect balance too. This is a good video. I don't have a bag but use a ceramic pot on a cement floor. I once saw a lipo set a car on fire. Went through the seat to the ground.
Glad you got them going and glad you enjoyed the video. Good and safe with pot and cement floor. I now use a tin box and or the bag. Cheers
You omitted a couple of key points
1. While charging and storage charging you can note the balance charging voltages for each cell this gives an indication of each cell life.
2. When charging several cells at the same time(parallel charging) you MUST ensure all the battery packs are of a similar voltage at the start
Great video. May I know why discharge rate for storage can’t go beyond 1.0A? Thanks.
Thanks for the great tutorial. I was a bit nervous beginning the drone hobby because of the learning curve of the battery charging - this video made me a lot more confident. Thanks!
Hows the drone hobby going now 1+ year later?
@@thepenmen22 I regretfully sold all of my gear when I was in a tight spot financially. Since recovered and thinking about getting back into the hobby. I think your reply on a 1+ year old comment might be a sign for me to get back into it
This is the BEST video I have seen on this charger. Immense help to me!
great info.
Does the charger actually alert you when its finished charging the battery?
yes it beeps really loud, you can hear it from the 2nd floor in my house and the screen starts flashing "fully charged" or something along those lines
Very nice video. My genuine SkyRc IAMX B6, is on the way from Banggood. I've been watcing lots of videos and have a question -
After charging, say 2, 1-cell 350 mAh batteries at 0.7A, will the charger "buzz" a sound when they are finished?
What are the small white connector on the side , for balance charging , called ?
Nice explanation of this charger, I just got one from amazon and it charged my 5000 mah lipo in 28 minutes rather than about 4 hours on my old charger
How do you know it’s full? Or just stick it in there for an hour ?
Hi does this charge and discharge lithium ion 18650 batteries as well if they were placed into a holder
Will it charger gearstock?. Tengery?. And or volken batterys??? Me and my brother need one
Can you send a link where to buy this charger
Are there any chargers that incorporate isolation circuitry that responds to unexpected temperature fluctuations?
Hello, what advise would you give one who wants to charge using the turnigy p403 ac/dc charger
Does this charger stop charging once the battery is fully charged
I was about to buy the Tenergy balance charger but saw this one for cheaper . I want to use it for hitec batteries.. which one would you recommend???
How many of those batteries would be okay to charge at the same time ?
does this charge both xt30 and xt60 ?
Why do you have to connect the battery to two ports. meaning one for the deans and one for the smart charger function. If you do a balance charge shouldn't you disconnect the deans ?
Just the way most good chargers work, I assume they can throw more power to it through the deans(main) cable(good gauge cable) and then balance using the balance cable, just my thoughts. BTW it wont charge unless you have deans(main) cable attached ;-)
Should I always balance charge my battery ? Or just normally charge it , and after 3-5 cycles I balance charge it
You have a genuine unit unlike all the fakes people are showing on utube.
It's probably the knock off. I got that one on Amazon., some bitch.
Amazing video!! To charge outside what kind of 12 volt battery you recommend to use?
Usually do you balance charge it or just regular charge ?and which one is safer?
Will it stop by itself when the lipo finishes charging?
okay so I don't need to manually keep an eye on the charger it will cut off automatically?
I have IMAX B6 but all I have is a 19 volt charger I wonder if that's too much. I tried it once and it felt kind of hot but I don't know if that's normal
Can this also measure capacity? If it can, does it do the whole full charge, test discharge and recharge to storage?
Hi Triggers Rc
Do you know a way how to balance the Dji tb47's batteries.
Hi Barry, That's good and glad to here it, cheers
to balance charge .after flying to get battery down 50 percent.
the charger will climb up to the correct level
is this correct
oh i keep wanting to ask do you live in Britain
thanks
The charger will balance the cells and charge to correct levels, then stop charging, it bleeps as well, hope that helps. Yes I live in the very top part, Scotland :-)
if i charge a 1500 battery at 0.8mAh the battery is going to charge to that rate ? or it is necesary that i charge it at the same rate it says in the battery
Great video man. Just one question. When you want to store your battery, you suggested to just go and fly the drone to lower battery. What happens if you fly it for to long and therefore you need to charge it again for storage. Do you still use the “Lipo storage setting”?
Yes. It will increase or drain the cells as required.
I have 3000mAh lipos with this exact charger. What number should the bottom right corner show to full charge? Thanks alot
Dear sir, when im charging my 1000mAh 20C 11.1V battery on 'the Balance charge mode, it shows
Li3S 0.3A 12.60V
BAL (time) 00023
how come it doesn't show 1.0A on the screen?
is my battery dead?
How many amps should I charge a 11.1 lipo at 1200 mah
What’s the difference with LiPo charge and LiPo balance charge?
CHARGE is charging the battery. BALANCE is balancing the battery, meaning it'll be balancing the cells inside the battery (hence 1S, 2S, 3S, 4S, 5S etc). So that all the cells inside a battery are equally charged. That's a short, user version for you:) Fire away with questions if you have any.
Aleksandr Korkut is balance charge more recommend than normal charge?
Hi Tigger's RC Reviews
I have this exact same charger and I would like to know how to use it to charge my B&D cordless drill battery.
Glad you enjoy the channel, I have no idea on anything but Lipo batteries, sorry, hope you get it sorted
Tigger's RC Reviews thanks a lot for the tip 👍
Pleasure :-)
hi i have doubt so my batteries are 11.1v 450 mah but on the charger we can only choose 400mah not 450 so what value do I put it on
I need to use both white plug and banana plug? white plug is not enough?
Yep that's correct, charger will not charge with just balance port ;-)
Tigger's RC Reviews Thanks! I got it going. Now do i have to wait for it to be full or can i stop at any time?
Well you can stop anytime but obviously a full charge will give you more fun time ;-) As I said before, enjoy :-)
Tigger's RC Reviews Thanks!
Tigger's RC Reviews One more quick question; does the B6 automatically sound an alarm whenever the battery is full or...
quick question... how do and what would i use to power on the unit? the instructions didnt say anything but how do i get power to the unit so i can discharge my massive 8000mah 3s lipo for my xmaxx... please help.. thanks

Hi, very informational! I have an old Sony notebook power adapter, which says it outputs DC 19.5 V and 4.1 A. Will that notebook adapter work to power the Imax B6 charger? Thanks
yes should do fine but I always keep an eye on charging lipos and is anything gets hot stop! glad it helped thanks
+Tigger's RC Reviews
Sorry to be a pest.
Hi,I just received my imax b6 today and I was a bit confused on charging a single cell battery.I have a 650mah battery with a JST cable.Do I have to buy a 5 in 1 to charge it or can I charge it with the wire it comes with.If I don't have to buy the 5 in 1 charger how would I put 650mah on the charger.I would really appreciate it if you could reply.Great video by the way
Yes you can charge it with single JST, I set mine to 0.7 ;-) glad you enjoyed the video, thanks :-)
Can I charge/discharge a battery for the Typhoon H with this? I know I need the adapter cable as well. Thanks.
In theroy yes, but, alays a but! Typhoon H has it's own plug and if you find one that connects it to this let me know I want one
+Tigger's RC Reviews I have one on order from:
www.quadcam.ch/shop/ for $25 coming from Sweden.
Carolina Dronz carries one but they've been out of stock. There's a guy on eBay selling them but he's asking over $50 a piece. Which is ridiculous.
Hey well done you, TBH I hadn't even looked, hey that's why it's good to share, yep I'm in on one too. Thanks for the info :-)))
I have not found one, I use a home made version, with small crocodile clips ;-)
Do you have a video about calibration?
Hi Mr T, what adapters do you recommend to charge AA batteries and AAA batteries with the LiPro?
Great vid BTW
Hi, glad you enjoyed it, I have never charged any AA or AAA using it so really can't advise on it, hope you get it sorted
Hi, yes it will charge it I use the crocodile clips, pretty sure they come with charger, and just push them onto connectors, works for me ;-)
Thank you for your quick reply , and for the video's you have posted , they are very informative. I will have to order that charger now . Have a great new year .
Pleasure, happy New Year :-)
Question: i have a 2.0 A but when i charge it is not going up more then 0.6. Is there something wrong with my batt?
hi so can i charge a 400mah battery on a 500mah charger or will it smoke/explod
When you say "it flashed full", how charged is this? 100% ? Does it leave a safety margin? How can you tell?
Hi
Thank you for an interesting review. In your experience, what batteries you can buy and what not (I mean manufacturer)
+Voldemar D Hi glad you enjoyed it. TBH I have not had any bad experience with any of the batteries I have bought, I don't usually buy the manufacturers ones as they always seem a lot more expensive. You have to be careful of any LiPo battery. Hope the Tarantula is going well :-)
+Tigger's RC Reviews
Hi
Tarantula is the way, but I already have a plan to build F450 (www.aliexpress.com/item/F450-Quadcopter-Frame-w-APM2-6-2-6-6M-GPS-2212-920KV-cw-ccw-30A-SimonK/32452812560.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.328.YQVq1M ) & (Radiolink AT9) but I will wait until the tarantula that would learn normal piloting))
+Voldemar D Yeah I think you should definitely fly before you buy ;-) What you are thinking of building is very different to a CX-20 :~) Good luck!
hi great video. can you tell me how to charge 6 AA NiCad batteries in series with the imax b6 ? how do you manually set the cut off voltage? what should you set the charge current at if each battery is 1500 mah ? thx
Hi Zac, you got me on that one, i have never used it for charging NiCad's so really can't help :-( Hope you get it sorted, glad you enjoyed the video , cheers
I have a question how many time charge lipo battery first time ??????
just bought this charger and a couple of 2S 2200 batteries, and wanted to put them on storage charge, but when I did so the voltage just went up from 7.57v until the charger pinged and said the battery was full. Is this correct or do I have a problem?
Storage is usually based on 3.8v per cell so that's pretty spot on ;-)
Hi, I have one final question I hoping you can clear up.
Sounds good and thanks for clarifying the amps, did check mine and as you say old ones definitely 5A. Pleasure helping if and when I can, cheers
Does it include a connector for Banana plug? (Syma x8 series)
No I just use the crocodile clips works fine ;-)
Tigger's RC Reviews thanks just bought a adapter for 2€. Keep up the good work!
Very informative. Did you research the bags? I'm not sure if they can be trusted. I use a metal box, but hope to find a bag that is trustwothy. Thanks.
+Vence McAdams Hi Vence, thank you, yes nothing going to meet a metal box. Thanks for the comment :-)
I dont't get it I set my balance charge to 1.7 amps and my battery is 1.8. when I charge the battery during the process it goes down to 0.5 amps. I need some help.
Secondly do you recommend lip charge or balance? Oh and when I used lipo charge it would deliver 1200 amps in my battery but my battery can store up to 1800 amps
yes the power slowly goes down, that's normal and correct ;-) Always balance charge
Hi can you tell me what cables to get to charge a Hubsan H501s drone? I just picked up the Skyrc charger but doesn't have one to match. thanks
HI, pretty sure this one should fit goo.gl/xnmRRe hope it helps
Thanks!
What happens if you only plug the cells (3 cells, 4 cells, etc)? But the output is not plugged? Will it still charge?
Where can I buy a female T plug to EC2 female connecter for B6 charger
Hi!I have batteries for JJRC H31 and H36.Lipo 3.7 400mah and 150mah.They have a really small plug,i guess micro JST.How can i charge them with this charger?Maybe attach small cables to the alligator plug?
I use this cable goo.gl/jJ4mun seems top work well or just noticed this one goo.gl/yjW8Bd which may be even better as will balance cells individually, but only does 3 at a time
What are Lipo batteries used for?
I am looking into buying a Hubsan H501S and extra batteries and accessories and your videos always pop up in my searches and always answer my questions. YOU ARE THE BEST!!
Hey Thanks Ryan, you the King :-)
I’ve got a Gens Ace 14.8v 5500mAh 45C LiPo battery..
it’s fine to charge at 5.5A isn’t it?
Booklet doesn’t really explain what is safe etc ... only what everything is.
It's been a bit but i got 2x Turnigy High Capacity 12000mAh 6S 12C Lipo Pack w/XT90 batteries. I technically could charge with 12A? Or with 6A, its slower but more accessable in terms of PSU's, correct?
hi there, need HELP, ive got the imax b6ac v2, and every time i go to charge it keeps saying BALANCE CONNECT ERROR the battery i have is a 4000 22.2v,can you please help ,THANK YOU .
I assume you have connected the balance charge cable, that's the only time I have come across this error
can i use this to balance charge my phantom 4 drained battery ?? as normal charging is not working on these intelligent battery
Don't have a Phantom, but you would need an adaptor for sure, if battery is not charging then I don't think this will sort it for you, good luck
