I have never read Mary G but I loved the excerpt you shared.

Great choices, Sonya! "Hot breath of dryers" !!
I do remember finding roommates, jobs, stuff to buy and sell, on bulletin boards. I need that Gaitskill book! Accordion Crimes sounds good, too. I've only read The Shipping News and some short stories by Proulx.

Thanks, Angelia. Bulletin boards and classified ads were so essential, right? And now, poof, they're almost extinct.
I think you'll like Accordion Crimes!

Hi Sonya, I'm honored you did my Phenomenal Woman Book Tag. I had thought "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" was nonfiction. I watched the movie starring Cicely Tyson who was a phenomenal woman. Aloha friend.

Ah, Mary Gaitskill! Thank you for shining that light and reading her work. I love her writing. I need to re-read Veronica, and I haven't read her latest novel, but I've read Two Girls Fat and Thin countless times. Putting The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman on the TBR. I also need to read more Annie Proulx; I've only read The Shipping News and one of her story collections, Close Range. Thanks for doing the tag--I loved hearing your answers.

You're welcome. Thanks for tagging me. Gaitskill's Mare was a deviation from the darker novels but I still liked it. And of course her novella about Me-Too was so good. One Proulx novel I haven't tackled is Barkskins.
