I live like 2 mins away from where that plow fell. There also was another one literally like 1 mile down the same road. I was driving my quad on all the roads drifting around and having fun. Did not get stuck thankfully.
Three years ago, I took advantage of an overturned plow and went (later, when the snow was gone) and filled the truck up with the discarded sand. I still have a small pile left. People saw my wife and I filling wheelbarrows (could not stop on risky corner) and dumping it into the bed and began their own salvage operation. This attracted the police, who closed it down because so many people didn't ask the landowner for permission to drive up next to it, so they stopped on the street. A lot of idiots around, even after the snow is gone. A handy berm let me back the tailgate into the hill and we just wheeled it in. Wished I had a front loader, it would have been very quick and easy. Amazing how much trouble four inches of snow causes in the Seattle/Everett area. Can't wait to see four feet sometime (never is a long time to wait).
I foolishly drove down to a neighborhood in Hamburg yesterday during the storm and got my sedan stuck 6 times. Luckily I was prepared with snow pants, winter jacket, ski mask, gloves and a shovel. Somehow I managed to get out and was able to snowblow for a friend
To give you an idea how lake effect snow works, I live 65 miles away in Rochester and so far we've received only six inches of snow this entire season. The most we've received in just one day so far is two inches.

I believe that state has banned tire chains on trucks due to chewing up their 4th world roads. I have chains for all my trucks it is required by law. I wouldn't even need chains for that tiny bit of snow in the C500 Kenworth or old DMM Mack. See why we laugh at their banana republic?

and it's all going to melt (again) when even just 20 years ago when I was a kid we had several months of snow on the ground. now it's freeze-thaw-freeze-thaw all winter long if even that. can't even build snow forts anymore there's never enough snow and you sure won't be able to go inside of it a few days after if you happen to get enough because it'll all be gone
Ontario has rarely frozen above 50% since NOAA records began in 1973. Erie has frozen over only in 1977, 78 and 1996. 1977 was the worst blizzard Buffalo has seen in modern times due to the snow being blown across the frozen lake.
Yup. That was a good one! Green leaves still on the trees collecting heavy wet snow. Large branches breaking and tearing down electric lines, blocking roads everywhere. We had two very large trees down blocking both ends of the road and no power for 5 days. All the usual noises had ceased and just the sound of generators. Fun time!!

Darn.. you know that trucker doesn’t own that truck. Chains don’t fit, it’s empty he was on the road when it’s dangerous. Definitely a “you’re scheduled for this place/load and you have to be there or no pay” situation I bet.
It's absolutely infuriating to see the interviews with the truck drivers that are laughing it up because they've brought the secondary roads to a standstill because they're constantly getting their rigs stuck and jack-knifed. This is a failure of the logistics companies that run these drivers out on the road, regardless of the weather conditions. They end up making it orders of magnitude more difficult for the people that live here, are mission-critical employees, and often have to navigate well around these secondary road snarls -- putting themselves in greater risk in the process.

and, this is why I always carry chains, even if the state doesn't allow it, I chain up. I'm gone.
I didn't know it was banned here...I assume because it chews up the roads like crazy. I was just surprised none of the drivers really had them when I was chatting with them
@@JonathanPetramala normally bigger company's have chain banks, you can sign for a set, make your run, and return them somewhere else. But because, I also owner a coach bus, I carry the set, when October rolls around, just in case.
it would be a nice day for football game
1:51 having yer wife's Acura's little chains in yer cab doesn't mean that you have chains, Jonathan.
Haha yep
Need Nokian tires 1 for for winter snow ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ we got on our vehicles gas or electric 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is insane
Lake Effect is some of the craziest snow out there
"Snow was falling at an almost pornographic rate of 6 inches per hour. A meteorological Money Shot" :D :D what lmao.
Back story: A lot of my friends are weather nerds...they get so excited about things like the video of the ground blizzard from above in the drone and extreme snowfall rates...their excitement gave me the inspiration to write that lol
At first you tell me they have had 70 inches since Thanksgiving. Then the guy you interview says there was green grass yesterday. So which is it?
Both. Temperatures have been swinging. This snow will melt over the weekend.
is this the weather we must expect this winter?
So far at least…
Stay home folks
The guy in the Mustang 5.0! What was he thinking!
Lot of digging for that one
They need to start building 4 wheel drive semi trucks.
I wonder how Elons semi trucks will handle these conditions
Darn.. you know that trucker doesn’t own that truck. Chains don’t fit, it’s empty he was on the road when it’s dangerous.
Definitely a “you’re scheduled for this place/load and you have to be there or no pay” situation I bet.
Locals are more determined to just go anywhere in a storm🤷
I moved to a desert for these sort of winters.
No need to shovel sunshine right?
It's absolutely infuriating to see the interviews with the truck drivers that are laughing it up because they've brought the secondary roads to a standstill because they're constantly getting their rigs stuck and jack-knifed. This is a failure of the logistics companies that run these drivers out on the road, regardless of the weather conditions. They end up making it orders of magnitude more difficult for the people that live here, are mission-critical employees, and often have to navigate well around these secondary road snarls -- putting themselves in greater risk in the process.
People are idiots, they don't learn anything!!! Nothing at all!! You should take an example from the hated country where in very snowy and cold weather you drive using tracked vehicles, special fuel and you think!
Some of the plows are built like that here
It amazes me that people have some place they have to be in the middle of a blizzard ! STAY HOME !
I don't hear any chain noise from the tires. Years ago, I did.
I think they banned chains in NY
