    What a fantastic experience it was to have Kotch collaborate with our faculty and students as our designer-in-residence throughout the 2022-23 academic year. Kotch is known for her expertise in watershed architecture, studying the rivers of her native Thailand and gaining points of comparison through learning extensively about our section of the Mississippi River. She spent time with our students in landscape architecture and urban design, and led public programming at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation.

    The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis is a leader in architecture, art, and design education. We are advancing our fields through innovative research and creative practice, excellence in teaching, a world-class university art museum, and a deep commitment to addressing the social and environmental challenges of our time.     The school encompasses four academic units - the College of Architecture, Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design, College of Art, and Graduate School of Art - and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, each of which has its own unique history. We offer more than a dozen unique degree programs for both graduate and undergraduate students, supplemented by a number of creative research centers, including Island Press and the Office for Socially Engaged Practice. We have an enrollment of over 800 students and draw on the expertise of over 100 faculty who expand our connections to contemporary global practice.
