Sonogno is the furthest village in the Verzasca Valley, a small paradise that can be explored on foot or by bike. It is a typical Ticinese village with a beautifully preserved nucleus. Sonogno had a population (as of 2019) of 82.
In the Verzasca Valley, and especially in high season, public transport is the best means of transport. Sonogno can be easily reached by PostBus 321 from Locarno train station. If you want to explore the Verzasca Valley by bike, you can load your bike onto the PostBus at Locarno train station. Get off at Brione Verzasca, Piee and follow the ‘Tour Alta Verzasca Bike’. This tour is suitable for everyone and runs mostly along the river, allowing you to admire the emerald waters of the Verzasca. If you are travelling by car, then you will find a big parking lot just outside the village. Distance from Zurich is around 220 km and take approx. 3 and a half hours. From Milan, it will be a journey of 2 and half hours.
