      3. I'm never "putting the camera down low" with my main camera. I'm holding it at a normal height, where you'd get the perspective of being there in person. Sometimes my second camera is on the floor, just because I don't have another person to hold it.

    At 6'10" what am i to expect? Definitely athletic to be that tall but is he vertical leap as high as a 5'10" dunker?

    • @DunkademicsOfficial
      @DunkademicsOfficial  Год назад

      Kao had his approach vertical measured at about 47 inches.
      For reference, the world record for approach vertical is 50 inches. The NBA Combine record for approach vertical is 48 inches, the next highest being 45.5, then 44.5....So Kao would have the 2nd highest approach vertical in NBA combine history at 6'10, which is nuts.
      Most people his height aren't breaking 40 inches

    Like Wilt Chamberlain. Should get his highest touch recorded officially. This is the only guy we've ever seen come close to Wilt.

    • @DunkademicsOfficial
      @DunkademicsOfficial  Год назад

      I highly doubt most of the Wilt athletic accomplishments are legit. We have enough footage of Wilt to get an idea of how athletic he was. And of all the footage we have, Wilt never jumped higher than maybe 33-34 inches off the ground.
      He would have needed a 42 inch jump to touch the top of the backboard, so unless he magically jumped 8 inches higher when the cameras were off, I have to claim false

    • @SpiderWaffle
      @SpiderWaffle Год назад

      @@DunkademicsOfficial Ya, there's no way he ever jumped 46-48" like he had claimed. He would have jumped his highest at Kansas or even late in HS. There's a photo of him blocking a shot for Kansas:
      ruclips.net/video/NiGAPR1bidw/видео.html
      He appears almost even with front of the rim forward and backward on the court and the camera is almost squared at the backboard, this fairly accurately puts his head even with the rim. However, his body is angled to the right and his neck is angled past 45° backward, so if he was vertically upright it would be closer to 1"-2" above the rim. Further one arm is outstretched about 60° over-head and the other other almost out laterally. Assuming roughly anatomical normality each arm is ~5.7% of body weight and his humerus would be ~16" and at the center of mass of his arm. Doing the math, if both arms were vertically downward this would add 1.7" and .9" or 2.6" more height to his head. Assuming 7'1" and head 1.5" above the rim plus the 2.6" would put his vertical at 39.1" We don't know if this photo was taken at the apex of this jump or if this was his highest jump ever. Most likely he could jump at least 1"-2" higher than the evidence of this photo given the benefit of doubt I think 41" is a fair max jump height. This would put his highest touch at about 12'11". I thought it was closer to 13'2" but doubt it now.

    The camera angles make it look like he is higher than he actually jumps. He's probably about eye level at top jump.
