    Interesting to see this form done with Chum Kiu energy. Is it a WC thing? Can someone elaborate?

    Why is the bill jee form different than ip chun doing the bil jee form ?

    • @CodaCombatives
      @CodaCombatives 6 лет назад

      Gol Gulok I would agree, a great example is the dummy form, each of us are created different so we all have to make small adjustments to keep certain principles and attributes true while accommodating our body stature

      Either
      -they learnt differently
      -one of them changed something
      Master Ip Chun's 4 biu saos are done from standing square while Master Kwok's are done with 45deg stance
      While for the 45deg movements after the 3 side chops, Ip Chun does fok sao while Samuel Kwok does something like a low gang sao

      In my limited experience with different lineages and only trained in the Ip Man line, I used to see the forms opened and closed differently from Sifu to Sifu. I often wondered if it was a signature of theirs.

    So far I've seen three clips of Samuel Kwok performing Bui Gee and each one was different!????

    • @potrebitel3
      @potrebitel3 3 года назад +2

      It is normal for high-level masters - don't want to show everything and the right way. Even in this clip alone, there were significant differences between left and right sides not to mention skipped steps.

    I remember my master kindly explained how to hold the fingers together, then when I didn`t listen, nearly broke them..One of the things (among many-many others) they don`t teach in Wing Chun is the Qui-gong elements of the forms. That is why his hand is touching the side of his body when it should not. But for Westerners, it`ll do

    • @wolf3001
      @wolf3001 2 года назад

      My teacher trained under William Cheung and some other WC system before that. We were constantly told keep your fingers together and as for chambering the hands we were told if you look in the mirror the hands shouldn't touch your sides and the fists should cover your elbow. He would say the hands should be high back and uncomfortable.

    Attempting to learn the forms by watching:
    Siu Lim Tao: not hard, mostly a memory exercise and a few tricks to move right here and there
    Chum kiu: Alright, this one is not as hard to memorize, but man is all that twisting annoying:)
    Biu gee:...you got to be kidding me...

    • @bitkarek
      @bitkarek 2 года назад +3

      its not only about memorizing the movements, its just a start. Its about the way you perform those moves, the details. Its easy to memorize movements, but hard to truly master the form.

  • @Freeman-xm7ug

    • @bitkarek
      @bitkarek 2 года назад +3

      this is for training... you dont stand like that and fight like that. But you learn the principles of the moves and then you can apply them to a fight.
