I'm 6 weeks into this procedure with probably another 8 weeks to go, on crutches unable to work. While the intial surgery was painful, the ongoing pain associated with the distraction is something else. A constant ache in the thigh and knee worst at night that requires regular pain relief. Swelling in the thigh that has tracked down into the lower leg and ankle. Reduced range of motion of the knee due to the soft tissues becoming tight as the bone lenghthens althought I'm sure this will return with physiotherapy once the dustration is finished. The point I make is that this is NOT a walk in the park.
@Emmanuel I had my initial surgery back in July this year (2021) in New Zealand. The procedure was done to correct a leg length discrepancy since birth - not to be taller. While the surgery was uncomfortable for a couple of weeks, the real discomfort started about 2 weeks into the lengthening where the external distraction device is put over the implant 3 times per day. My entire leg down to my ankle was sore and swollen, in particular, my knee. My surgeon advised all this was to be expected. The pain was managed with oral pain relief, mostly effectively. I have extended my femur by 35mm (1.3 inches) which took more than a month using the Distractor device. It is now 5 months on and while it is great having equal legs, I still have knee and hip pain the result of the stretching of the soft tissues. I continue to need a crutch to walk sometimes but I'm confident that all will settle in time. The experience for me has been ok I guess; I chose to do it to myself so I can't complain but to do it to get taller, to have both legs done, I don't think I could have coped with.
Of course it's not a walk in the park, they are stretching veins, nerves, soft tissue, muscles, more pressure on tendons and well your brone gets broken too lol.

@Meliah Hutchinson please prior to the surgery were you limping and having hip pain and after everything did the pain go away and limping stopped.mine is about 2 to 3 inch difference but I'm nervous to do the surgery..Pls how is the process, was it so painful
what about angulation problems after? like the ISKD before it, measure the mechanical axis deviation with full 51" ap x-rays. the benefit with the external fixator is (assuming your surgeon is committed to good 'MAD') is you/he/she can adjust the external fixator valgus/varus (or with multi-axial corrector, also flexion/extension). although this rod is fixed in bone, the rod is never perfectly parallel with the bone. so as a result, the more you lengthen, the more off the angulation result. i would like to see the 'MAD's of all these patients.
@@TheClinchMagazine you'll need multiple surgeries for that and don't go for femur and tibia lengthening together instead go for tibia first you can increase 1 cm more by that you'll need 2 surgeries atleast if you want to grow 8-10 inches
Thanks for this video. I’ve had an external fixator twice. Those are awful. I just consulted about this procedure and am hopeful that it will work. I’ve had so many surgeries over the years, what’s one more.

Souli yeah that’s a big risk. 😔 I wonder if the risk is less if you have less to lengthen. What’s the minimum leg difference for this kind of procedure?
@@LaMissa1 I mean theoretically any length but idk what doctors use as a standard minimum. But if you think about it even 3 inches is not that much for your muscles to stretch, especially if you're already agile.

Will the internal metal rod and screws be removed at the end of the whole process? Or will the rod need to remain in place internally? Because that would be pretty annoying.
The rod needs to be removed because of a rare earth magnet located inside it. You cannot have an MRI scan with it inserted. It is removed by making a small insicision. I began to have side effects of pain and clicking sounds so it was removed sooner.

What if you're not a teenager(basically you're an adult) and also suffer from a rare genetic bone condition ? Is this helpful for them as well , or can't happen ? I
je veux savoir combien ça coûte l'opération;la réponse s'il vous plaît

Germany 🇩🇪
i have also this surgery
New York at the hôpital HSS
@@Sahibsingh-hk5fe do you had any deformity ?
@@Sayankumarroy6 no i have .am ok now
I’m doing this in 2 months.
Hello doctor where are u located at?
Wow!! That is amazing
can I walk without any cane when I activate the magnet at home?
We are going to see a dr. this week to determine if my daughter is a good candidate for this surgery. Is there physical therapy following this procedure. If so, how long?
Mary O'Boyle I wish I was your daughter, my parents would never help me pay for my shit, let alone even consider opting for this surgery.
Uh..her daughter probably has a medical condition that requires this surgery. In that case, insurance would probably cover everything
Medical insurance doesn’t cover all of it usually.
wait why would your daughter want to do this surgery? girls r supposed to be short though
My left leg is 1 inch short.. now, that might not sound a lot but I do limp a lot and I live in Toronto 31 years old .. how much does this surgery cost ?
I feel ya my is 4 inch so I had surgery on my long leg it grew and inch by itself then stopped so I had the femur surgery and it grew another inch I got two more and I will be level with my longer leg
ALSO did you get the surgery
One day if have money ill do that operation .my short left leg give me a big backache.
how muche this operation please ?
There's anyone could tell where his clinic is plsss i really wanted to know so badly
Russell Lim I go to the one in Florida Paley lengthening institute. If it’s for medical reasons medical insurance covers some of it.
I'm 5'9 and boy I'd love to be 6'.. I'm 20 though so maybe when I'm 26 and have the money it'll be good
Ali Srour I'll advice u to not to do this surgery
5'9 is a decent height
It's never worth it to break a bone unless you really really have to
Nothing wrong with 5'9 bud
@David Sikent what about 5.10?is it average?i also want to be 6 foot,dr bari he is one of the best surgeon in my country,he did his post doctoral fellowship from kurgan.
I don’t know why you would want to go through with this just to be taller. People who do this have different leg lengths. They have pain in their hips and back. They go through this to get out of pain, to be their best, to be able to live life! If you’re just wishing you were taller, I think you need to rethink your priorities and what’s really most important.
What about the metal pen clips in the dr's pocket?
I broke my femurs in a motorcycle accident a few months ago... I guess I'll be getting taller lol
+David Mendoza lucky
+kurdistanss yeah, it's so crazy. I'm at least an inch and a half taller now. ( but my case is very gruesome and extreme and lucky)
I think the best website that really helps to gain height is *4GrowTaller .Com* I personally tried this website and it works…recommended
@Sen Xu lol
Might as well..hahaah
I have same problem I hade an accident and had multiple facture then my first leg is short wish I had that type of money in India which i had these kind of processers it's very costly and I can't afford
question i got a broken left leg tibia and fiba compound fracture its been 4-5 months now and my leg is now inch longer i have a a rod and 4 screws to by the knee and 2 by the just above the ankle, what can be done for the inch that is longer now and the bone hasnt fully healed im at 50% weight bearing foot is swollen n painful to step on, did the doctor mess up that its 1inch longer how can it be corrected any feed bak
I do have the same prob..but mine shorter by two inch.the doc didn't put my bones together but stick it together and causes this.they need to redo the surgery
Damn that's rough I always hear shorter for some reason my case they made it longer still got foot pain and what not walking a little with a limp foot gets swollen at the ankle builds up fluid and pain to where I can't walk till I elevate for a while
How many inches can one get taller at the max
So does the metallic lengthener stays inside forever or do they take it out once completed the lengthening.
The rod gets removed after the lengthening is completed
@@DanielCho1997 And what happens to the bone marrow after the rod is removed?
@@eddyboh2723 bones are hollow but anything that wasn't hollow before will regrow over time.
@@Sora-o Will, the bone marrow regrow over time?
@@eddyboh2723 it will grow back to normal.

Byron evans $100,000
Slickat 503 with hospital fees?
Byron evans yes but the medicine is payed separately
It is 60.000 $ ?
Was this your first time having this done? My 15 year old son had the other leg lengthening done 2 years ago. He has to have it done again. His doctor suggested we use magnetic one this time. How long did it take for you to back to sports? And will the pin ever be removed. Please reply.
Thanks
Know Your Worth I’m 15 and I’m scared to have tht surgery did he ever get better ?
What about the bone marrow?
I am 5'2" age 21+
want to be 5'7"---5'8"..
is it possible with surgery? ple tell me?
Umul Murmu 5'6 at best or you can just use insoles I'm 5'7 but with the help of insoles it helps me reach 5'9. It's pretty useful when I have to give presentations on various topics. Though if you want to increase your height to impress girls ten don't. Any girl around 5-5'4 will still go out with you if you're charming enough.
And it’s $60,000+
Question, I'm 5'10 and 19 y/o. Would i Possibbly get taller by the time I'm 25, my dad is 6 feet tall. and my mom is 5 feet tall. Additionally, How much would this cost in the US?
About 90,000 for femur ; 80,000 dollars for tibia
Jinwen Hui mebe can I get this done in japan? Some people of Reddit said they went to India? Fuck that shit.
+2583060 same here bro.I'm 21 years old & 5'10...my dad is 6'3 and my mom is like 5'11 or 5'10
+2583060 It is really expensive zz.... Recent article I saw, there is this Indian guy (5'1), he did it in India, now he can barely walk and his leg is full of scars. I think it is better to do it in US, Germany or Sweden. But the price, it would take me close to 7-8 years to accumulate that amount. I wouldn't do it before with the Ilizarov fixator, the wounds, infection and it looks very crude. But now this method looks really promising.
+Jinwen Hui Jinwen, the price you mentioned, is it for 1 or 2 legs?
how much does like cost? say i want both legs and 2 inches?
It's up to method what you choose, start from $15k to $ 75 k
I just got billed $157,000 and my bcbs paid all except 6k
sir I am from Pakistan so can I do it?
How much does it cost ?
About 70 thousand dollars
yes after one year
did you do it ?
Hi, my height is 176 cm, wingspan is 181 cm and I want to increase height by 12 cm(6 femur, 6 tibia) and is it a bad proportions?
176 is awesome man why would you break your bones for this? I'm 169.5 and I'm doing this to get to your height lmao.
@@Sora-o Hello Jorge, where do you do the lentghening ? I am looking for information.
@@antoine2441 Hello, I am thinking of doing this with either Dr. Paley In Florida or the Dr at Limbplastix in Las Vegas.
@@Sora-o Ok thanks a lot, the Price must be very expensive I guess ?
@@antoine2441 yea around 100k for everything
There is a place in Germany I think where.you are not on crutches for long. After a week they get you walking a out.
I got the same surgery, at the place.. Femur & the hospital and all, I even use that Magnet machine whatever lol.. My doc was Dr. Frogomen.. Great Doc. #NYC
Really damm men i think i need to get that surgery too bro
+Byron Tapia Do they do it for cosmetic purposes or only people with uneven leg lengths?
Kevin Ulloa so can run and play like before after the surgery or there is a risk ???
It's great, My legs are even now, it's not even that painful overall, they make you walk next day and therapy its for like few months, and within a year your should be fully recovered. good luck... well I didn't get any screws outside my leg, its was all internal.
Kevin Ulloa hey kevin is there a way i can send you a private message? ?
ولدي الله يحفظة الان عملنالة نفس هاذة العمليه.ومن اليوم انا اضبط المقناطيس لرجلة الى اخر المدة في المنزل.ان شاء الله تنجح عشان يطبقونها هيه الافضل

Janka Mikulikova check out betz institute its located in Germany i think
Im 5"6 and im boy and have 23 year
im 5,6= 171 cm do I need lengthening ?
This is a very reasonable reason to perform lengthening surgeries but for the douche bags that wanna just be taller its crazy
I am almost 6 foot and want to get to 6'3 I'm 17 and still growing up but I want to go through the surgery, What u guys think?
very good idea and i respect your idea you need to be given an oscar.
+Abid Hasan one wont be enough
U mirin quotes? g hahahaha
Did you end up doing it? Cause this means the machine would have to be doubled to work on both your legs?
I wonder if no one really catches that you are trolling. You are an Zyzz fanboy (note he died from steroids). Oh hey, I just saved your life
I am almost 5'6 and I turned 12 in January, I want to be 7 feet, can this happen???
glenn Glenn, what?! So can I be close to 7ft at least??? But how do you know they end up 6-2??? You have no proof
