Owned a gsxr1100k... Suspension was also rock hard but made sense over 100 mph on long sweeping dual carriageways 👍. Great and informative vid as usual
Nice one Jim, surprising how many old bikes I come across with all the suspenders adjusters wound fully in or out and been ridden for thousands of miles like it.
Came across this channel today and wow absolute bangin content keep it up Jim you know what your doing And big up the compressor getting a mention in every video 👌👍
I've got one of these currently in bits, and the carbs sat on my bench ready for a strip down and clean. Must say I would have liked to see a carb clean this time around lol. I really enjoy your videos and style don't change a thing ever they are great.
Don't be too hard on yourself Jim,-just fifty lashes with salt to keep you on your toes should suffice!---Thanks for the knowledge and method show,--I'm now addicted. 🏍
Im gladyou mentioned about the mike picking up the sounds ...I was halfway through typing "that engine sounds awful that mike picks up the sounds well" even when u are riding it u can hear the leak I think !
My GK76A did that for a while. I had to change out the fuel tap altogether for a non-vacuum one off a Yamaha IIRC (20 years ago!) Was a great bike when it worked properly.
Sounds like a proper GSXR. A mate of mine once said the mirrors were completely useless. (Rode an 1100, I thought that this was one too). Great video Jim!
Love the bike Jim that old nostalgic paint scheme looks great part 3 incoming? Fork rebuild part 4 and tyres? Thought it could be a 6 parter😂and the compressor gold brilliant this channel ❤ look forward to the next one
Seeing as you mentioned the suspension on the ride. Preload on the right fork versus the left you can see ones wound in further than the other so that could be part of your knock but could also be a case of something not assembled correctly internally. Almost bought a project one of those but glad I didn't have too many as is.
Jim, you mentioned that this bike reminded you of your youth. It would be interesting to me for you to tell us of your biking experience, don't think I can see it in any of your previous videos. I'm a bit older than you & have owned many Japanese bikes over the years, starting in 1980 with a CB250N.
Hey from Canada 🇨🇦 I’m intrigued about you AFR tool , can you include a photo of the sensor end , looking to see how it works 👍 Great work ! Keep up the great Chanel
The mirrors are foul but the original ones are very expensive, i've just paid £150 to have a set restored. There is virtually no room for an inline filter if you are running the airbox, I've tried and given up, ended up fitting a better fuel tank from my race bike and putting the rusty one back on the race bike which runs open carbs and thus has lots of room for a proper filter. Unless I missed it this bike doesn't have the SP carbs as I didn't see the rubber blank plugs on the pilot jets, not that it makes much difference when running the airbox and standard headers. The SP carbs are 33mm against 32mm and have swappable air jets in the bellmouths rather than pressed in ones, plus the aformentioned side fed pilot jets.
The wife had a GSXR 400 for her first bike i have a TLR took hers out for a ride and nearly threw it down the road on a roundabout, was used to throwing the heavy TL around and them things weigh next to nowt.
Hi! New subscriber here, absolutely love your videos and waffles! Can you please waffle about the theme of manual cam chain adjusters and how to set them with the correct tension? Can’t find any decent content on it.. cheers
I have the Gk73A too , it starts and ticks over , but as soon as you rev it over 6K it bogs down even when warmed up ! Could it be one of the main jets blocked??
Longest episode ever?? They should be much longer Jim imo You said before the attention spam of followers is short and so you make the episodes short STOP THAT! MAKE THEM LONGER! PLS! 🤓
I built a K2 750/4 for a mate a couple of years ago from the ground up. Installed a 915 kit with Mikuni 34 RS carbs and got the bike running well enough to blow through the clutch when over half throttle, more work needed there. He parked the bike over our winter (Australia) and let the fuel evaporate from the carbs with the expected result! Carbs are on my bench for a clean and service but I'm struggling to dissolve the green mess the fuel has left behind, carb clean won't touch it and now soaking in 100% hydrocarbon parts cleaner and the stuff is still not moving, any help on how to dissolve this stuff? Cheers Peter
In all honesty Jim, I think some people would benefit if you did take the time to show what you check prior to riding a foreign bike. I’m sure a lot of us would learn something.
Give you a better view around bends, also any cars coming the other way won’t be tempted to cut the corner as they see you coming sooner. As a lad I was riding my first bike on a country lane, a car decided to cut the corner and I ended up in a field head first in a ditch with a broken collar bone. I always take country road bends in a way to maximise my view and let anyone know I’m coming and stay on your own side.
@ I get that, and I want to ride as far to the middle as reasonable - but completely on the wrong side seems wrong to me. Only need a muppet with a dash cam with “proof” you were on the wrong side and caused them to panic/swerve etc
@@eliotmansfield Learn your HWC, both sides are correct, as it's a single lane road, you are meant to ride on the side that give you the best view of oncoming vehicles.
It's bad enough you have to deal with fixing the unfixable, let alone these dangerous shite back roads in the UK .... wow, no wonder your insurance premiums are sky high ...what a mess...
Big cheer for the compressor, I did laugh when you started your swearing .
I know, right. Had a little giggle myself at that point.
I'm just waiting for the phone to ring 😂😂
Laughed out loud at that.
I spat my tea out🤣
You mentioned briefly th Texa I have purchased a year old kawa Ninja sx and I want to get a decent diag unit with the right cable?
The moment the compressor kicked in - Perfect timing!! Gold 🤣😄
Hi Great intervention from the compressor, I'm only 63 in the prime of my youth and don't want it to end
What a lovely little classic bike, Farmer Jim.
My Mrs overheard the compressor moment and started chuckling 😂
I had one of them at 17, blew it up but was a right laugh to ride.
i actually spat my coffee all over my desk at the mirror description 🤣
😂

Dammit, I came here to see “another bloody carb cleaning!”, said no one EVER! Seriously enjoy your content👍
Nice one Jim, surprising how many old bikes I come across with all the suspenders adjusters wound fully in or out and been ridden for thousands of miles like it.
Jim I'm a 62 year old mechanic like your show I'm a sub to when u swear its real life
Really thought you’d be pushing that bike home when it cut out 😂👍
Came across this channel today and wow absolute bangin content keep it up Jim you know what your doing

Dont forget the tank breather too .

Just what I've always wanted a hardtail GSXR
😎👍
I had the 750.
Cut a few turns off the spring in the fuel tap diaphragm.
The vacuum at higher rpm and throttle wasn't enough to hold it open.
Farmer Jim. Soil analysis 👍🏼

😂 😂 compressor gate, it was waiting for you to get into the flow of things 😂. Great video, Jim 👍
Great video I always look forward for your phone ringing or the compressor starting😂

I just ordered some JIS screwdrivers.
Thanks for the advice.

Jim 0. Compressor 1. 😎

Those two madly different preload settings on the forks drove me insane! 😅
Absolute beauty :)
Awesome test run 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻

Compressor fires up ! Hilarious 🤣
"spasticatic"? Not heard that for years 🤣
The fork preload is all over the place, too.

i know, it turns just thinking about it.
rg 250 even lighter
I hope you said sorry to that poor innocent compressor the next day, Jim! 😂
Great work Jim!
That compressor has no manners 😂😂
You answered my stupid question at the end . Apparently I'm still stupid! . Thanks for answering without knowing. Peace and love .👍✌️♥️
great job as always lad keep it goin
Jim please fix the light behind push bike as it’s driving my ocd mental
I always test ride other people's bikes on prime 😅. Rear suspension probably never seen any grease.
That Fuel Supply issue, my old Impulse 400 gave me similar issues for ages, after many many potty words and time, found it, block tank vent #&$*!!!!
Always great videos 👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Another great video Jim, thank you! And I want that bike 😂
love the channel
Those needles are totally worn out near the top, very common on Mikuni BDST carbs, OEMs cheaped out on the needle retention mechanisms, quite common.
Was there any brake fluid in the front pot? Or was the plastic just really opaque?
Hi! New subscriber here, absolutely love your videos and waffles!
Can you please waffle about the theme of manual cam chain adjusters and how to set them with the correct tension?
Can’t find any decent content on it..
cheers
Got the preload wound all the way in on the right leg none on the left, no wonder it felt weird to ride.
U hade the same problem with my gsxr1100w from 95. I goth all my carb parts from ktm. There the same mikuni 40mm. All innerparts slide en on
I have the Gk73A too ,
it starts and ticks over , but as soon as you rev it over 6K it bogs down even when warmed up !

🤓
Or at least do a mix of both, as it would be nice to see one or two, hour plus long videos per week.
love your compressor firing up hahahaha
Compressor strikes again 😂
Got to admit when it cut out i was worried thinking how will he get home
Would it be possible to put a basic fuel injection system on a carburettor engine?
Carb farmer Jim!
Old shocks and old bones don't mix very well Jim. 😊 Not that your old or anything 😊
Time to put on a brew!
White and one thanks

I would have been expecting the white van to be coming back down the lane on your return.
Bloody hell I caught this one early haha

Wanted to see the fuel issue
strange that the head was apart but not the carb...
Hopefully no junk went back into the carbs.
sync should be done at 3-4 k rpm
?
or cruise rpm
YAY for the compressor whoot Dead on time LOL😂
Compressor on que. Bikes got a good rev counter.
Friday....Jim day
I think we are at the time of modern fuel is messing up o rings and rubber seals
Is it just me or did that rev counter look like it wasn't working right?
Very informative but man you make me laugh when you start to swear 😂😂
why do you ride on the wrong side when on the lanes out your house?
Give you a better view around bends, also any cars coming the other way won’t be tempted to cut the corner as they see you coming sooner.

In today's video:
Compressor Completely Ruins Punchline
😁
Your compressor has its timing down to a tee 😅😅
And that,s because the pilot jets are O my fucken god 😂
get the bloody farmer to clean the road there suppose to do it by law
😁👍🏍️☁️
Dont go all woke on us with the mirrors 🤣
But I came here to see another bloody carb clean. So dissapointed
No wounder the ride was crap one of the preload adjusters is all the way in and the other is out lol who ever set that up is dangerous 😂
No life below 3000 rpm. 😄
It's bad enough you have to deal with fixing the unfixable, let alone these dangerous shite back roads in the UK .... wow, no wonder your insurance premiums are sky high ...what a mess...
Turn off the bloody compressor BEFORE you film Jim ! 😂
fork preload looks wonky
