    Great that there is an alternative to vocalign!

      Cubase has build in track align which can do the timing sync - but its just 1 track and a reference, no pitch.

      @@audiotoolshed you can actually choose multiple tracks to align to one reference at once in Cubase.

    Good timing for Waves to come out with this. Many of us old-time VocAlign users have been vocally angry about their unfair update pricing, with many users turning to Melodyne for manual alignment. Glad to see this is an effective tool!!

    What is the advantage compared to the built-in VariAudio and the amazing aligning functionality of Cubase?

    • @audiotoolshed

      Mostly when you need to work with a lot vocaltracks, so bulk. Otherwise not much. Cubase has this sorted really well.

      @@audiotoolshed Bedankt voor uw antwoord. I understand that editing many (how many are many?) vocal tracks could be faster with this plugin. But I don't think a little time saving justifies the purchase at this steep price if you're already using Cubase Pro.

      @itsasplash if it's your job and you go through multiple sessions with lots of vocals it's definitely worth it, otherwise definitely not.

    thanx for the demo !
    Oh men, I get Sync FX for free with my waves Mercury WUP.
    It's a shame it wasn't released a little earlier, now I've bought Vocalign unnecessarily.

    There's another video of this product that was taken at NAMM and I believe the guy from Waves says that currently it only supports 16 tracks. Is that true? I was interested in trying it out, but currently I use Revoice for all my allignment and have a very structured workflow and on average have around 40-50 vocal tracks. So if the 16 tracks thing is true, it's unfortunately not interesting for me.

      @ I hope so because Fl Studio has plugins that do stuff like this and melodyne (Newtime, Newtune) that would be great to incorporate within the daw but just because it doesn’t have it make it feel less like a mixing DAW

  • @vodkastudios4170

    I have a feeling that Ableton will never support ARA2, but they will probably release the main ARA2 tools as built in plugins over the next couple years. I pretty much always use manual adjustments anyway even though I own vocalign, I can just get it to sound better than vocalign does, too perfect is sometimes not as good as slight variation.

    • @musiclover-r9m
      @musiclover-r9m 9 дней назад

      so does this plugin not workin in Ableton? Why would they make it ARA only? so strange...

    • @vodkastudios4170
      @vodkastudios4170 9 дней назад

      @@musiclover-r9m Im not sure if it does or not but my guess is if it does not then its because of the way ARA2 plugins interface with the DAW. Synchroarts probably created 2 different versions whereas Waves probably just created the ARA2 support version. Either way, I don't even really use my vocalign after learning how to properly and quickly fix timings in the basic audio editing window. The human feel is almost always more appealing to my ear

    Too bad they're doing the obvious cash-grab of pricing it right under VocalAlign. I'm only surprised ''cos they released their "Soothe killer," Curves Equator, for $29! Great job showcasing this plug in hyper-detail!

    • @audiotoolshed
      @audiotoolshed  8 дней назад +1

      Yeah I dont know exactly the reasoning behind the pricìng, my guess its that the competition determìnes the price. In the Soothe2 realm there is a lot of competition for lower prices already.

  • @Nayah9

    8:06 I think the reason you're getting pitch artefacts in Vocalign is that you've set "Target Mode" to "Absolute".
    Try "Nearest Octave" or "Relative" instead. You can also try messing with the 3 Algorithm modes.
    Vocalign has ARA, VST, AAX, AU and Standalone support so it's not just limited to ARA, and it's also not limited to a single license which Waves is notoriously known for...

    • @audiotoolshed
      @audiotoolshed  9 дней назад +1

      Yeah it happened with all settings I tried, but that is with the audio material I tested.
      More platforms support is always handy, I personally dislike working between two apps instead just in one, that's why ARA is so nice.
      The record mode to capture audio to work with in the VST, AU etc modes is soo tedious when you have to work with a lot of material.
      This is not limited to vocalign, other apps have this as well.

    • @Nayah9
      @Nayah9 9 дней назад

      @audiotoolshed We all know the drawbacks of not using ARA. But when your DAW doesn't have ARA support (like Ableton, FL, Logic Native, etc.) then it's nice to at least be able to use Vocalign. Capturing a couple of tracks is a lot less tedious than aligning them manually.
      Are you sure you tried different target modes? Because that's surprising if you're still getting artefacts.

    Waves has been on a roll lately Curves Equator for example sounds great and very affordable.
    What I woul like is someone to make an alternative for melodyne. Getting the software registered was such a nightmare I will never be brave enough to pay for any of their more expensive versions and risk being left stranded with it.

    • @VentureNW
      @VentureNW 10 дней назад

      Waves has had Waves Tune forever, but I prefer Melodyne, as it is part of my workflow. Melodyne is easy to register - log into your Celemony account and copy your license key. Not sure I can say that about Waves, since you need to run their updater often and if you don't your products, while in your DAW, get unlicensed.

    • @4EV-ER
      @4EV-ER 10 дней назад

      @ Yeah, a bit different tool I think. Melodyne seems a bit untouched as there are no real alternatives. Their activation process is just plain horror though when things go wrong, I guess I was just unlucky but I've read others had similar issues. Finally got it to register after several hours of frustration and workarounds, but basically they blocked my connection even though I had a legit key. Then I couldn't try for several hours. It would also crash the app and force shut the task was only way to get out of it. I know I got blocked because the site was still accessible from my phone connection. And all this while I had the key already registered on the site, just couldn't activate... They seem really protective with their software, too protective for their own good, and only way they can get away with this is because there is no competition. Its good and innovative piece of software when it works though.

    Thanks for that. Long time vocalign user but fed up with synchro arts since they got bought by LANDR and been wondering who was going to come in and offer some real competition. And just my luck, it was Waves who lost me as a customer with the WUP. This looks a good plugin, and seems they've leapt over vocalign which has been static for years, but I really can't jump on the Waves horse.
    Seems like I'll stick with vocalign ultra and melodyne for the moment.
