  • In this video, I unbox my brand new Hyla EST Defender, a water-filtration-based air purifier / vacuum cleaner. I also go over a couple reasons about why I bought it. So far, I love it much more than my also new Rainbow SRX. The Hyla is much lighter and much easier to use.
    Also,you would like to purchase a Hyla EST Defender:
    I bought mine from Empire Vac, LLC in Manlius, New York. I don’t have a local Hyla dealer in Oklahoma, so he was the one I was recommended to buy from on a Facebook vacuum collectors group. I had a phenomenal experience. It arrived within 5 days of the purchase. He also sells all of the optional Hyla accessories, like the carpet shampooer, table-top air purifier (uses water like the EST Defender), steamer, window cleaner, fragrances, air disinfectant, etc.
    You can also view the Hyla system and it’s optional accessories on the main Hyla website called “Hyla North America.”

    I got my gold 2 speed in 2006. I was so tempted to upgrade each time rainbow came out with a new one but I didn't....I couldn't justify it becuase it keeps serving me so well... I keep it clean and looking new... You'd swear it was hardly used but I use it quite a bit for almost 20 years now. I don't let anyone else touch it though .I've always wanted to try a Hyla. I hate the new SRX...

    Great unboxing! I just ordered a new one and had to see it in action before I get it. I'm not liking the SRX I already own and I think this Hyla will be a better replacement. Thanks for the post dear.

    I own a hyla and I can say that I was able to try the rainbow as well, and for me the rainbow is clearly the best, better suction performance, much better, does not leave wet surfaces

      I have both models , new and old ones, as well as many other premium vacuums from the high end brands. Water filtration vacuums - in general - do not have very much suction or airflow, including Rainbow and Hyla. They aren’t great for deep-cleaning. But for day-to-day vacuuming and general cleaning, they do a satisfactory job. They’re also handy for wet spills. In my testing, the new Hyla has more suction and makes better use of its suction than the new Rainbow and older Hyla vacs. But it doesn’t have as much suction as the older Rainbow models. This isn’t by much, though. Maybe 20” water lift different and 10cfm difference? I’d have to check again but I don’t remember it being a big difference at all. In fact, it boiled down to which machine made better use of the suction it had available. The Hyla doesn’t leak any air, whereas the new Rainbow model leaks a lot of air. I think that really inhibits it’s potential, and so does it’s weaker motor. The previous Rainbow model has a more powerful motor than the new one, and did not leak nearly as much air. I should have bought an older unit instead of the new one. I regret it. So, in summary I have learned the new Hyla cleans better than the new Rainbow but not as well as the older Rainbow model, like the E2 Black. In general though, there are plenty more options on the market that clean much better and filter just as well (better in many cases) than any water-filtration-based vacuum. RUclips channels Vacuum Wars, Greg Gainer, VacLab, etc and companies like GreatVacs have proven this time and time again.
      If I want to use a super high-suction canister, I use my Miele C3 with the SEB 236 power nozzle. It has 111” of water-lift whereas the most powerful Rainbow has 60.” If I want to truly deep clean my carpet, I use my Kirby Avalir II. Airflow is key in deep carpet-cleaning as well as aggressive brush-roll agitation. The Kirby Avalir II has 130-150 CFM of airflow. The Rainbow has about 30-45 CFM. Even with a full bag, the Kirby does lose some airflow but it is still well over 100cfm. These are just 2 examples, but I admit they are among the highest-performing units money can buy in their categories.
      The highest suction/airflow canister you can get is a Miele C3 or Aerus canister. The Miele has much better filtration, though. They filter just as well as a HEPA-equipped Rainbow.
      The best upright for deep cleaning carpet that is still being manufactured is the Kirby Avalir II.
      The most powerful water-based-filtration vacuum I have heard of (but have not tested myself) is the Prolux CTX. I have tested/verified the others I mentioned. Sirena is another notable mention but I do not know it’s airflow and suction numbers. It doesn’t have the best reputation for build quality, though. The Prolux does get good feedback about build quality. Both of those are about $900 in North America.

      @@Cleaning_Hero Do you know if anyone has taken apart a Hyla to see if the inside was dirty? I know their separator is self-clean.... it's just so weird to me that Rainbow would let Hyla UP them on something that important....I wonder if there's a way to check the exaust to see if it truly is a clean exhaust path or anything escapes? I've never touched a Hyla myself and I don't see any teardown videos of them.... maybe you know? thanks

    I have Hyla n from 1999… to this day after 23 Years it still works!! Im planning to upgrade to hyla est so can u tell me is the new one good are u satisfied with ur purchase?

      I have the “N Series” model as well! I have tried several water-filtration-based vacuums. Multiple Rainbow models. Sirena. The Hyla is the easiest-to-use out of all of them. The Hyla is much easier to pull, use, maintain, etc than the others, and even the older Hyla models. I would also look at the Prolux CTX vacuum. It is also a “water” vacuum but it uses the industry’s best power nozzle made by a German company, like the Hyla. The Prolux is $899 brand new with a lifetime warranty. Google it! There are also RUclips reviews on it. I haven’t tried that particular vacuum, but people in the vacuum community say it cleans very well due to its power nozzle. I have a Miele with the same power nozzle as the Prolux and it really digs into carpet to clean. Awesome performance. If you want a canister that cleans the best and filters even better, look into a Miele Complete C3 with a power nozzle, like the Homecare (E+ version). It is the best-filtering, highest-suction/airflow canister you can buy, bar-none. If you are dead-set on a water vacuum, go for the Hyla EST Defender or Prolux CTX. They are definitely handy to have around.

    I still want to buy one but I’m hesitant to when I found out what they charge for replacement parts 😳

    • @Cleaning_Hero
      @Cleaning_Hero  Год назад +1

      Hyla replacement parts are very expensive. My advice is to check out Sebo. They are super cost effective to operate and last for decades. Very simple to use. They filter really well and clean really well. For example, a Sebo brush roll is like $35. A Miele brush roll is like $80. A Hyla repair part/anything is like $$$. Hyla and Miele are both every well made machines though, just like Sebo. Miele isn’t nearly as high on repair parts, but still not as cost effective as Sebo. Personally the best canister you can get, in my opinion, after having owned so many premium vacs, is the Miele C3 canister. Bar none. If you want a water filtration vacuum but don’t want to spend $2500, look at the Prolux CTX or Sirena. Both hood units and are much less expensive to own and operate than the Hyla and are very, very similar machines.

    It’s a really nice machine for the price point it’s sold at. And it’s a quality machine for sure. But it’s still not a rainbow which is best. Rainbow offered way nicer accessories like the new shampoo system and hard floor moping system. But the biggest benefit to rainbow is they have been using brushless switched reluctance digital motors. These motes have no commutator and armature or carbon brushes to burn up and fail. All of the “rainbow know off’s” as I call them, still use traditional carbon brushed motors. But overall out of all the rainbow knock off’s being made. I think the hyla and the Ritello probably are the best over all for their quality and performance at the lower end of the pricing spectrum that most people can afford. Rainbows are expensive as well know. But these provide new customers a solid introduction to water filtration and later they can eventually graduate to to real deal which is Rainbow. I will also say that hyla at least gave their machines a quality power nozzle which is made by wessell werk. Thought this particular design has been around since the early 90’s. It was used on the oreck Dutch tech and many central vacuums. And it’s a good power nozzle.

    • @Cleaning_Hero
      @Cleaning_Hero  Год назад

      The Hyla has a switch reluctance motor. The EST Defender does. Most of the attachments work better than that Rainbow’s units. All except for one, the shampooer, but a Hoover PowerScrub XL works better than the Aquamate. I do wish it had a hepa filter, but overall it cleans a little better, especially carpet and that doesn’t have to do with the airflow, it has to do with the power nozzle’s design. It picks up quite a bit better. It’s a much easier machine to use than my Rainbow E2 and SRX. It pulls a lot easier. Less maintenance. Easier to clean out. Simpler design. All tools fit on board. It doesn’t weigh as much. It doesn’t feel awkward to pull around or pick up. That makes a world of a difference. It has a much more solid fit & finish. Everything fits tight and snug. My SRX and E2’s wands, motor unit and power nozzles had some play, or looseness to them. The Rainbow’s snap-fit housing makes a creaky noise when lifting or moving, which means the housing isn’t put together as solidly as it could be; but at least it’s still a sealed unit. It makes them feel cheaply built in some areas, especially the power nozzle, wand and hose setup - those leak air. The Hyla’s wands and hose do not, neither does the housing or power nozzle. All components are very tightly put together with actual screws instead of the Rainbow’s snap-fit design, which increases durability and rigidity a lot. I also find the water separation to be more effective. It’s just a better unit overall, if I were to grade both units on a point system. This is my personal testimony after having a Rainbow for 15 years, an E2 since 2009 and an SRX since 2020. I still prefer my Miele C3, though. It has way more power than either the Rainbow or Hyla, it filters just as well as the Rainbow without having the hassle of the water and the $3k price tag. I use my water vacs to clean awkward wet messes up, such as when cleaning out the dishwasher filter or defrosting the freezer.

    I bought one, it is normal went filter the air shutdown after 30 minutes? I always remove the front cover , they not have any curve tool for clean ceiling fan or high furniture ect sad, I remove the air-condition filter and set the hyla close to clean the duct with the aroma drop eucalyptol

    • @Cleaning_Hero
      @Cleaning_Hero  2 года назад

      The Hyla has an internal timer to shut off after 30 minutes when in air-cleaning mode. It also operates on a lower speed in that mode. When you attach the hose, it has a sensor that automatically turns the power up for vacuuming mode, which will not turn off on its own when in vacuuming mode. Vacuuming mode = hose on. Air clean mode = hose off. In regards to the tools - you can buy a 35mm to 32mm vacuum attachment adapter off of Amazon. And then buy any 32mm tool you wish.

    • @Cleaning_Hero
      @Cleaning_Hero  Год назад +1

      Depends on your state, where you buy it and how you buy it. They are traditionally sold door-to-door, but they are much more export buy that way. I didn’t want to do that, and found a great dealer in New York that. Bought this one over the phone and he shipped it the next day. It’s Empire Vac, LLC in Manlius, New York. Ask for Greg. (315) 303-7023. He’ll be able to answer all your questions and order one for you if you want to learn more about them as far as price and what they do. He’s a Hyla dealer, Miele dealer, and a Riccar dealer. I just liked him because he was super nice and didn’t pressure. Dealers in Oklahoma put down a lot of buying pressure, so it was a relief to not get that from Greg.

    How is it possible to compare a machine that uses plastic
    (hyla) with a machine (rainbow) that uses materials such as stainless steel, polycarbonate, titanium, kevlar. Besides that hyla claims that it can filter the air better because it has no filters... oh please! Rainbow many years ago realized that water and centrifugal force from the separator were not enough to trap very fine dust like flour, smoke, polen, germs and bacterias, so they put an HEPA h14 (hospital grade filtration) to make sure the air that comes out of the machine is 99,9997% clean. Hyla does make that claim, but as it happens, that machine can't deliver such clean air. Rainbow is the first only machine that is certified as a vacuum cleaner, but gets a certification from AHAM as an AIR PURIFIER.

    • @Cleaning_Hero
      @Cleaning_Hero  2 года назад +1

      The difference of filtration is negligible. I did not find that fractional difference (99.90% vs 99.97%) to be worth how cumbersome and flimsy my Rainbow SRX is to use. Expanding on filtration, the efficacy of Rainbow filtration is 99.97% of particles greater than or equal to 0.3 microns in size and it uses a HEPA13 filter, not a HEPA14 filter. You can easily verify this by calling Rexair or by visiting the Rainvac website.

      Can’t wait to get a Hyla! I have an SRX as well and they already had to replace the computer on it and I’m STILL having issues with it shutting off by itself just cleaning the air! And to the other gentleman commenting about how much better the Rainbow is because of the filter, you’re wrong. It’s another filter that plugs up just like any other no matter if it’s “hospital grade.” I used to work in the service department at a distributor and the amount of dust that made it past the HEPA was ASTOUNDING. Does the Hyla trap 100% of debris, probably not, but it also drowns the dirt better because the air and dirt are forced into the water versus riding in the air and then dropping into the water.
      I mostly use my Rainbow E2 black for regular cleaning now (until I get a Hyla) but I have carved the HEPA filter out and just have the plastic cartridge housing (to still be able use the blower feature) and I get SO much more debris out when vacuuming because of this- it also doesn’t get warm or hot like when the HEPA filter is in place…
      I also don’t like that they made the water basin smaller in the SRX and that you can’t remove it from the wheels any longer. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO CLEAN 2 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS WITH THAT THING?!
      I do like the 4 speeds, power nozzle with a handle release pedal and the magnetic hose connection, but that won’t stop me from trading it in for a Hyla if they can give me a good deal…
