I know it's not the same as talking on a real CB, but with DX conditions being quiet the last couple of weeks it's nice to be able to connect with other CB users via the app. Hope to catch more of you on there as word spreads and hopefully Midland will bring the actual mike to US dealers at some point.
Hey guys. Great channel. I've learned so much. I have a question. I'm working in a cb repair shop and was wondering if you can point me to where I may find information on older radios. E.g.: I need a p&t procedure for a Cobra 146 GTL. We get vintage stuff all the time and could use an archive if one is available
I gave up on all traditional two-way radio. I'm on Zello for now with so-called internet radio devices (I have four of them). They have hardware PTT just like any ordinary two-way radio. I have a Senhaix N60 in my truck and an Anysecu N60 with a desk mic at home, a TM-7 for a beat-around device and a handheld with PTT on the side and an external mic I can use (got my RT-4 sitting here next to me at work). I love these things! Can be used on a cell network or on Wi-Fi. Have my own private channel for me and the wife...no interference! Way better than RF radio. Got rid of miles of wire and coax and tons of klunky radios, power supplies and antennas. The chat rooms (that's what they are) I use have active moderators that keep the riff-raff out (on the 'better' rooms, you must be trusted in and you can be locked out just as easily for being an ass). I have so much fun talking to others across the country, in England, Europe, South Africa, Australia, etc. Loads of fun just like old-style CB and Ham radio was except without people keying on each other, hetrodynes, fading, foul language (depending on the room you are in), etc. This is the future of fun, non-text communications. Zello can even be used in a pay service for business...full dispach, everything! So cool!!!
The app is free if you'd like to test it yourself. It works with my headset but not my buddies.... neither are the blue parrot however, but seems to be hit and miss.
I'm both a ham and a cb'er, but I wouldn't mind using this to talk to my non-ham/cb buddy halfway across the country while I'm driving around. I'd much rather use a ptt mic than the handsfree phone mic in my truck. Maybe that's just me though.
I notice you have it connected to a President Lincoln 2. Will it plug in and work on the President 6 pin sockets as standard as I had thought it would only work with certain Midland radios?. Thanks in advance
What radio would you recommend for a new amature ham operator who can only use a small portion of the 10 meter band 28.300- 28.599? One that won't break the bank.
If you're new I'd look for a used radio since you'll probably be upgrading your license and radio in the future. In the CB/Export market the 2950DX, HR2510, Optima are good choices but you may want to consider just getting a beginner true HF radio such as a Icom 718. I bought one used for $400 a couple of years ago.
Posting here since there is no other way to contact the owner of the magazine, but, is the online CB radio magazine dead? I see it started in 2007, but when was the last issue created? There is a copyright date of 2014 on the current homepage.

Cb Radio - is ADULT period. XD Here in Akron, Ohio we argue quite often about foul language and freedom of speech. The general consensus is "If you don't like what you hear the change channels or QSY, until you get the pseudo-nazi that is a regular hypocrite that tells you that they don't like to hear foul effin' language!" To a large extent ignore my call sign here as I have basically become a free/gray bander with a ticket, XD Good video, interesting technology.
Yes the language on some of the groups can be very adult - however the #1 channel for USA is usually pretty clean. The app will drain your battery faster and uses data as well.

Will the app work with a Blue Parrot bluetooth headset? This is what most truck drivers use. Please test this function if you can. Glad your back!!!

DId some testing, Works Great with a BlueParrot 250 Head set. Only con is you have to press the mike button on the screen. How about VOX Midland?
FYI User on the app says gen 2 Mic will be wireless with a bluetooth adapter for the cb.

Another internet radio APP. All this app's let the real over the air radio talks die
It's definitely not for everyone but when the CB airwaves are quiet and there's no DX it can be fun to mess around with this app.
Too much going on here, I’ll stick with my Cobra 🐍 BT to simply interchange between CB and useful phone device.
How does that cobra BT work? Does the person you're talking to come through the speaker in the radio and you key the mic to talk back? Or?
FoMo ; yes, that is exactly correct. Certainly boosts volume of phone better than anything. I prefer the debut model from 2008.
I was never able to use the bt function on my cobra due to it trying to download all my contacts every time I connected to it
It's hard to imagine why anyone would buy this thing.
