Some of these recruits made a career out of the Marine Corps. Some probably served as DI's themselves, and are retired today!
Kind of like a time warp to me to see videos like this. Seeing all the recruits here and knowing that if any of them are still in they are 1st Sgt's or SgtMaj's by now. Kind of interesting to me to see it from that perspective.
deathbat87 that's crazy now that I think about that
2 guys out of my platoon retired at SgtMaj., and one was a mustang that made BGen. 1989, 3059, PISC.
It would be cool if I recognized some of the people who got to the FMF after I did who went UA.
I was at PISC in 1991. 2nd Bn Plt 2064 Hotel Co. Man did this bring back some memories... I can almost smel the sweat, Skin-so-Soft (for the damned sand fleas), and SimpleGreen (uh...I mean CLP, since that was the only thing APPROVED to clean our M16A2s with - if asked). 😉
Semper fi my brothers. 🙏
I was in 1981 at paris island,brutal!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this ! Brought back many good memories ! 92-96. Semper Fi !
The recruit he is yelling at in the final seconds sounds like my last name. Rinehart LOL
Was you in pltoon 1005 brother ?
Friggin Outstanding!
I was on the island 1980 very tough !
1975 2nd Bn Plt 214 for me. April-July...the heat was bad in April, but was horrendous towards the end of July . Didn't seem to bother the sand fleas much...they liked their food warm.
graduated 1995...cant believe it so long ago it would be considered historical footage now haha
It was so interesting that learning basic DNC wound up being the most difficult thing to get anyone to do! Yet, we had good drill sergeants to the point that, by the time the day was done, my platoon was moving with precision, as if a well-oiled machine. Then came this part of it, the manual of arms, and we were smoking all the other platoons! When it came time for the final drill competition on the last day of Basic Rifle Marksmanship, we killed everyone. Those were some great memories.
These guys look a touch rough at this point, but they still look pretty sharp: full credit to their Drill Instructor. Hooah!
Every Marine reading your post know you are former Army. LOL
Thank you so much for posting this ! Brought back many good memories ! 92-96. Semper Fi !
Thank god Im finished with my enlistment
That field behind them is blocked by trees now, you can see the bridge going out of Paris island from 1st battalion's barracks. I looked at that bridge alot.
Same here...1st phase top deck observations....winter of 83, Platoon 1019, 1st Bn
I was in 1st Bn Delta Company Follow Series and had that same bridge view and swampy fields
Couldve sworn this was 1st btn, saw that everyday but trees and water now
Are you guys talking about the Berkeley Bridge? I walked either 2 or 4 hour posts (can't remember exactly) on that bitch a few nights. Really screwed with my sleep. One time I was so tired I didn't wake up at reveille, and the DI dropped or threw my footlocker on the deck beside my head to jar me awake.
@@rickojames Those armory and base posts were 2 hours when I did them.
Semper Fi Brothers...this shit is good-to-go.
Outstanding!! Looks like it could be Sunday with the civvy cars at the barracks. also looks to be behind 1st BN with the marsh and all. boots are bloused so should be 3rd phase. thanks for posting!!!
Out of all the USMC Boot Camp videos online this platoon was THE MOST SQUARED AWAY I’ve ever seen. There were hiccups because they’re recruits but no popcorn on the cracks and order arms.
Pretty crisp!
Watch it again. There were plenty of screw ups. If we'd been that bad even in 2nd phase our DIs would have had us PTing until we puked.
I was in Bravo Company in 1997. This gave me chills.
I was Delta Company 1997
Jesus a Ford areostar van lol
If there was a jelly donut in the glove-box the entire platoon would know it.
To me, when it said "old footage," I expected to see M-1 rifles in the hands of the maggots and DI's wearing the standard utility cover they wore before 1956, which is the year the campaign cover was authorized as standard issue for Drill Instructors.
We need to get Jones and Taylor in here
That boot banded guidon haha.
Gilbert ha ha ha ha
That meant we were in Pig Platoon status when I was there. "Pig Platoon, forward slime"....and so forth. Used to piss us off.

3rd Battalion, Platoon 3036, Mike Company, 1994.
I can feel the heat on my face, the sounds of PI. 3rd BN Lima Co 3065. SDI Henao, DI Martin, DI Slager and cant remember the last DI.

TAYLOR THE ANTICIPATOR
Wow I remember Plt 1069 I was Plt 2017 2nd battalion fox Co in 1991 they used our chow hall as did 3rd battalion for chow hall repairs good gawd that was a long time ago LOL! I remember this Plt because another recruit said Stay Motivated Recruit ! Till this day doing the chow hall duty it sucked in the pot shack!
Amen to that brother. I was #1 in the 2nd Bn scullery in June. Caught all kinds of hell from 2nd Bn DIs. A couple of times they'd yell for "#1 in the scullery" and I'd come running out of the pot/tray washing area and report, only to have dishes or silverware thrown at me because of real or imagined dirt on their eating wares. It sucked....long frigging sweaty days. We washed a gazillion trays and utensils during and after each meal, and had to break down and clean the steam cleaners and washing machines for inspection. The only upside I recall is we were away from the platoon all day, and got to eat with the messmen before the recruits came to chow.
We got screwed on ours. 4th battalion chow hall, and a former DI was the NCOIC of the facility. GySgt. Landry. Fucked with us all day. I was a pot shack commando.
I arrived at MCRD Parris Island June 13th 1991 and Graduated September 13th 1991. I was with 2nd RTB G Co. Platoon 2091 my Senior DI was SSGT Otten my DI's were SGT Salser, SGT Hanson. I went on to serve for 24 years i Retired in 2015 as a GYSGT i was an 0326 and served with 2nd Division Recon as well as 1st and 2nd Force Recon Co. Do you or did you know any of my DI's?
Pine Sol to this day...is my fav..lol

Clean ass inspection arms
That sounds like SDI Sgt or SSGT Crouch. Whatever he was at the time of this filming
Affirmative Warrior! What Platoon were you in?
I was in Platoon 1142 . I went in June 1996.
+Kevin Ware Ware? 8th Comm?
I was Platoon 1037 1991! Ssgt Crouch was my SDI. Always intense when it came to drill! Ooh Rah
Semper Fi
This was my platoon. Didn't hear my name yelled so I'll take that as a good sign. Def don't remember being recorded during drills though. We got robbed on our final drill, I remember nailing it.
Don King had his hand in everything.
Kinda weird to see no one responding to the DI
One of the worst times was when the SDI swiped all my Harvard Classics off my foot locker and made me read the EST Book only during free time; once I got past that, it wasn't so bad.
Man, to DI Crouch, nobody ever does ANYTHING right.
I work with him now. He's an awesome guy. He's still all about attention to detail!!
Oh how standards have changed..
Plt 3020..Jan.89..Sgt Perlot...whew..
can't we all just get along ?
anybody know what company

Old footage? That's not old. They are wearing camies. OLD is the herring bone pattern green. Like I wore!
It is not the failer of the students. It is the instructor....fail!!
The one part of boot camp I didn't like. I hated drill with a passion.
You could tell the DI's cleaned up the commands for the camera. No profanity which is rare. At Pi in 1965. We had M14s.
Oof
