I've seen this movie so many times, and for the first time, I realized the hammer was stored in Bible starting at the book of Exodus! Well done!
So many details everywhere... Very well crafted movie...
lol it's a movie you can watch a lot of times and find out little intricacies that somehow tie into the plot later on. I will wholeheartedly call you a derp for missing that one though :P Mr Even lol.
Best film ever made. Excellent storyline, intelligent narration, superb acting, impeccable lighting, erc etc.

This tongue-in-cheek quote refers to the in-book character, who is Irish.
It was a great joke and a great a great wink. Legend has it that Darabont, the director, wanted Freeman for the role, but ran it by Stephen King, to make sure it was OK, since the character was Irish in the story. King gave his whole hearted blessing. They both could see how he was perfect even though he wasn't a white redhead. Nowadays we'd have a bunch of racists screaming that they'd gone 'Woke'. He was perfect and that is that. Posterity has spoken... ❤
This was adapted from a short story by Stephen King, from a book of four short stories called "Different Seasons." This one was Spring "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption." With a subtitle of "Hope Springs Eternal" Which makes perfect sense with the theme of the story. I read it long before the movie was made and I have to say, they did a brilliant job. Everything about that movie was spot on.

Great, emotional reaction!!! You nailed the reaction Stephen King was looking for. This is my favorite movie hands down. FYI...this movie actually "bombed" at the box office in 1994 and didn't win many awards from that year at the 1995 Oscars due to it being the same year as Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump (both highly more advertised). This movie did in fact "kill it" when released on VHS and DVD (yes...back then)...and after all of the reruns on TBS during the late 1990's and early 2000's on cable. This movie became the best selling one "after" the box office. Highest rated on iMBD. Another very interesting note is that the "redemption" part is not solely with Andy...in most part it was Red's redemption. Red told Andy towards the end of his thoughts as being a "shitty pipe dream"...well that's actually through the means of how Andy escaped.
In my circle we called it an "ass sticker" or in French "un colle-cul".. cause when you caught it on cable, your ass was stuck on the couch until it was over...😂

The scene in the library on screen looks like Millie treating Gideons injuries with witchazel oil in 7 brides for 7 brothers. Outrageous movie even then, so good.

This is a brilliant movie, and in my eyes, the best movie NEVER to win an Oscar. I have seen this movie well over 25 times, and never get bored of watching it, and it always brings a tear to my eyes at the end of it too.

When Brooks went into Shawshank, there weren't cars on the streets, only horses. Think about how weird that must be for him.
It was fimed 8 minutes from my apartment, here in Mansfield, Ohio.... very cool to see Mansfield in a huge movie.
Watching another because i enjoyed your forest gump reaction so much. This and Forest Gump are quite possibly the best movies ever made!

That wasn't the original ending. Original stopped at the bus ride but audiences wanted more. So they added that bit at the end.

Big Stephen King fan, didn't think much of the short story Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption when I read it. But absolutely love the movie. Re-read the book recently, still prefer the movie version.

Not one of, "The" top ranked movie and for 15 years running, in fact it's never been lower than 3rd on IMDB since they started ranking it.
As a technical suggestion, occasionally when your image is shown on the screeen, the timbre of the voices of the dialogue drops down quite a bit. Can you look at editing this on other movie reactions ? Thanks.😊
