Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) - Chao Race With Chacron

- Here is another great moment in Sonic Adventure...a beginner Chao Race! You can't win one of these races because one very talented Chao always stands in your way. His name is Chacron, and he is kind enough to offer you a head start before he comes flying to the finish at an incredible speed (equal to that of an all 999-stat Chao.). Here we can see my Nights Chao (named Sonic...I need to go get some CR2032 Batteries for the Visual Memory and rename all my Chao) take on the incredible Chacron. In Sonic Adventure 2, Chao will get a rematch and race Chacron twice!
This is from the original 1998 Japanese release of Sonic Adventure. I've heard that entering an all-999 Stat Chao in a Beginner Race will replace Chacron with an army of all-999 Gold and Silver Chao. I'm working on getting a Chao up to that level, so stay tuned for more. Thanks for watching!
I still have no idea how Chao race works in this game

yeah but the chao random voices never sounds in this game and without the cheering and applause sound when any chao win the race from this good game

Wow, the menu in the original Dreamcast version is a lot different from later versions.
Dang, Chacron comes ALIVE.
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
My Chaos Chao left that little shit behind by the time i was finished raising them, same in Sonic Adventure 2.
Nice! I've never seen a Chaos Chao in the DC Sonic Adventure. I'll definitely have to work on it! I've raised an all-999 Chao on the Dreamcast. From my experience and memory (I'm probably wrong), with the first stat you max out, your Chao will fight a very strong army of Chao in that stat in the Beginner Race (mine was a Fly Chao so I raced a bunch of Nights Chao), two stats maxed out gives you an army of Silver Chao, and all four maxed gives you an army of Gold Chao. I didn't check what three maxed stats did, but I'd guess it was a mix of Gold and Silver. Either way I bet it was really satisfying when you beat Chacron in both games! Raising a Chao quick enough to beat him takes forever, especially on the GameCube versions. The GBA Link Cable definitely helped!
VisualMemoryBlue Ahh nice. Indeed it was very satisfying beating him, it took a long time but wiping that smug look off his face felt great.
Atm i'm playing Sonic Adventure 2 on Steam and i'm raising a neutral Chao Chao, An Angel Chao and a Dark Sonic Chao. I'm gonna make a lot more as i go along so more than likely i'll be glued to this for months if not more, i know i was obsessed with Chao before and that feeling is coming back again.
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
Ive never played enough sonic adventure 1 to get into raising a chao but from what I can see the chao race looks way more epic than it does in sonic adventure 2 (I 100% beat sonic adventure 2)
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
Anyone else here from the latest IDW comic, Chacron had an appearance in the Chao race
This chao is fucking crazy! This is madness.
Wow. I love how everything looks different.

I used to legit destroy this chao because my chaos swim stats were 9999 dark chap and its stats bar was almost completely pink so it destroyed in swimming it could finish the swim course in under 9 seconds on 360
"Used to."
I wish the chao race looked the same in PC as it did in the Dreamcast. It looks... not as plain.

Chao races in Sonic adventure look WAY MORE epic than in Sonic adventure 2
Music isn't as cool though
Wait you could name Chao in SA1 (DC)?! If so, I'd really like to know how. I just kinda thought you couldn't name them in SA1 (DC).
You need the VMU
The VMU is needed
Not that the game or manual ever told you that>_<
Or that it's the only way to properly do anything with chao such as seeing it's stats or raising it's stats to a decent level. Just giving them animals in the garden to raise their stats to a decent level is just impossible.
There's a good reason why I prefer the DX's chao system.
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
Wake up. There's something in this place
WTF THE CHAO RACES WERE ACTUALLY SICK ON DC
i had no idea on how to play this game but it was one of my favorite mini games on this game
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
I know you can press A,B,Y, and X to cheer your chao to make it go faster
Good times.
I never figured out how the hell the chao system worked on the dreamcast. Pretty sure I never won a single race.
For sure, it's confusing here; I think the Team definitely improved the Races for SA2, with the Stamina Meter instead of waiting for the Sparkles to show up to "Cheer" one of 'em on. One awesome thing about the Dreamcast Races is that you can have 8 Players, with everyone bringing a Chao in their VMU Game!
The only way to view their stats on Dreamcast was to put them in your VMU. SA1's Chao system was not great. The only real way to raise them to a decent level was to feed them the special fruits while they were in the VMU. Because trying to do it in the gardens with the animals just isn't enough as the animals don't raise the points of stats very much and Chao only lived for 1 hour on Dreamcast.
They sound way too compressed playing in a CD so I wanted to check out if it was always like that
How the f??
GANBARE
Hello. Could you watch my Chao Racing videos?
Why was the dreamcast so much better than the gamecube version
I know right?
@@johnaline2097 Not really, Gamecube let you see a chao's stats by simply picking it up. Dreamcast forced you to put Chao in the VMU and play that Chao Adventure game to name them, see their stats and to properly raise them with its very short battery life and . The lifespan of chao on Dreamcast is stupidly short only lasting 1 measly hour in real time and just giving them animals isn't enough to make them good enough for the Jewel Races. Did I mention nothing in the game ever tells you any of this?! Was this really damn necessary just so you could get their stats high enough to win the race emblems and 100% the game? I don't think so. What was wrong with making it so whenever you picked a chao up it's stats appeared on the VMU screen while in the controller?
Dreamcast gardens in this game are also crap in comparison to SA2's DC gardens , SS is fine, but MR and EC are rubbish. MR has a glitch where chao would spawn in the giant rock thereby making them unreachable and EC's water is too deep so animals easily fall in and past a barrier where you can't get them and are wasted.
Also Dreamcast Chao content in this game is very lackluster, no hats, no black market, rubbish breeding and very boring and limited variety of chao. Such as no hero or dark and no different colors to get like mono tones or shiny ones. I first played the Dreamcast version of chao raising and I hated it because I had no idea what I was doing wrong about raising my Chao's stats high enough as they never won the races no matter what I tried, then when I got the DX version I found it clearly to be the better way to raise chao.
At least i'm not blinded to see the Dreamcast chao raising has not aged well in the slightest and that the Gamecube and PC chao raising is clearly superior in nearly every way.
@@robonaught the DC version of SA1 also had an annoying glitch that caused time to elasp in ALL THREE Chao gardens while you visit one of them. Which made raising a lot of Chao extremely tedious as they could die off completely without you even realizing it.
Good thing you can stop their deaths by feeding it right as it hatches whenever they revert to egg forms. I found that out by accident.
@@AoBomberman Oh yeah that too.......talk about the whole "Time only passes when in 1 garden" being a big fat lie! Reincarnation was indeed bullshit. Mainly cuz of the stupid hidden life sat which was in SA1 Dreamcast and thankfully removed in later versions. Life stat keeps depleting and Chao dies if it reaches zero so you have to constantly keep finding fruit every 10 seconds so it's not about how well you treated the chao through it's entire life. Seriously why bother reincarnating if the chao is just gonna kill itself right after hatching?!
I never had a single chao mate either. Was this just cuz of the time setting being broken so I always missed when they want to naturally mate or can they only mate by giving them a VMU heart fruit in the garden?
Shaking the fruits down was also annoying because sometimes the stupid chao would just walk up right in the middle of shaking and get hit by the damn fruit. Why did they have to make the fruit hurt them? Not to mention the fruits you don't shake down don't stay ripe and when you come back to a garden they reset and u have to bloody wait all over again. Chao were also really annoying in this version too as they constantly throw tantrums for fruit every 15 seconds some even throwing a tantrum as soon as they hatched and the sound of their crying is annoying as fuck to the extent that they got on my nerves and attacked them. Why did u think making them annoying spoiled crybaby brats was a good idea Sega?
Yo! So the thing you wrote at the end of your description about gold and silver chao, is it real?
Yes it is! The fastest way to get a Chao to All-999 stats is the Chao Adventure VMU Minigame, with the matching game in the menu. Then, once you enter a Beginner Race, Chacron is absent and the Gold/Silver Chao appear. They're just as fast as he is, but don't wait and sleep at the beginning, making for an even tougher challenge. Having a Chao at All-999 in the Dreamcast version gives a massive speed boost from normal, moving your Chao as fast as Chacron in the video.
1:28 CALMA AE!
I sadly never understood the chao raising in sa1 dreamcast... Did I just have to gove it animals to up it's stats?
No unfortunately the only way to raise a Chao's stats in the Dreamcast version is to put it in the VMU and play Chao Adventure. It's also the only way how you could view their stats and name them too. So animals are pretty much useless.
I think the whole VMU thing to raise their stats was a really stupid idea as it's something that should have been a totally optional thing and NOT something that is required to get all the emblems(and getting all emblems is not worth it on Dreamcast)also what's worse is that to even make a save file on Chao Adventure you need a crap ton of space on the VMU and even if you do, the damn thing has extremely crap battery life.
Dreamcast versions of Chao raising is just crap, utterly useless without VMU and hasn't aged well in the slightest. Don't bother with it, just stick to either the GCN versions of both games or the PS3/Xbox 360 version of SA2B.
I don't get why people say those games are bad in literally
everything... Sure SA1 had Amy and Big and their stories didn't all
intertwine that well... And Sa2 had Aquatic Mine, Mad Space and no
english editting for the cutscenes, but the good definitely outweighed
the bad on Sa1 and 2 on gamecube for me.
I will admit though, I did like how the gardens were designed in sa1 on dreamcast more... even the risk of drowning on the egg carrier's garden. x3
Incorrect.Stats are raised with animals.Unfortunately, you can't see them on the DC versions unless you use the VMU
Sonikku A
Animals are still useless as no matter how many animals I gave my Chao they were always incredibly weak in the races and I never won the Jewel races. Getting a decent leveled chao on Dreamcast by just using animals without the help of a VMU or if it isn't a chaos chao is just impossible. The Dreamcast SA1 stat system is just crap anyway compared to DX
How is the all-999 Chao coming along?
Good! The Chao Adventure VMU Game is really fun, and the fruits you get there each boost a Statistic by +4, so it doesn't take too long to get to Max Stats. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, it's a lot more fun than Level Grinding normally is in games! When a Category hits 999, your Chao gets an extreme speed boost, matching Chacron here but without the pre-race nap break.
@@VisualMemoryBlue You're not really grinding a Chao on a VMU for almost ten years now do you?
@@Kekwyre Nah, haha, luckily it doesn't take nearly that long. If you search for JustLemres's 130 Emblem Sonic Adventure Dreamcast Speedrun, you can see some VMU Chao Stat Grinding in action over a few hours. SPEEPSHighway has an awesome video up called "Baby Chao Are OP" that shows the All-999 Gold Chao in detail, as well. I have been playing some Chao Adventure 2 on the VMU recently though, that's another super fun one that I'd recommend! The Cat in your Profile Picture is really cute too, BTW! 😀
I guess it is possible to make a sonic chao on the dreamcast
Yes.
Is it me or Chacron here is much faster than he is in the PC version?
All versions of Sonic Adventure DX use the SA2B Chao system, which had different engine for the Chao races from the original Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure 1.
How did You enter to the chao race Hall?
You have to go to the hotel building at station square and the elevator takes you to chao garden and there you go
0:02 this music appears in the sequel
Only in the Gamecube version. Dreamcast version just used the Chao Stadium music for the Chao Lobby
Wow I've never seen that kind of sonic adventure before 'v' good job
