Blue on Black is a song by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Five finger death punch is covering it, with guest artists Brantley Gilbert and Brian May.

This, to me, is the most beautiful tribute to our first responders. So powerful.

I am a huge FFDP fan, and this is one of many great songs. Some of their stuff is heavy sounds, but their lyrics are brilliant. (Because this video is what it is: RIP to friends and family lost in 9/11. Prayers for those still suffering. And, bless the first responders and our people in service to country and community.)

I'm with you. This is one of my favorite bands! So many good songs with messages and just kickass banging ones.
The reaction that BP2 and Mrs. BP2 did is Wrong Side of Heaven.
      And thank you. 🙂

I got to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd when he and Stephen Stills had the band The Rides back in 2015. They were touring in support of their second album Pierced Arrow They, of course, did this song but played it like the original recording....which is more bluesy but it still has a hard edge to it.

Thanks so much for doing this!
Kenny Wayne Shepherd wrote this song and his band originally performed it.
It's more of a bluesy rock in that version.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs!
Who doesn't simply adore Brian May?
Heavy metal unfortunately gets a bad name sometimes.
    See BP1, they're not all Slayer-like.😂😅😅
    Sorry Chewy's Mama..😁
5FDP with this song and some of their other concert sales donated over 150,000 dollars to the foundation.
They support veterans and first responders in so many different ways.
That's why I'll forgive the scene where the firefighter struts through the flames.
Our bunker gear doesn't protect us from direct flames like that.
We start to burn on the outside and cook on the inside!
So if shit was hitting the fan we would dive through them saying some colorful words as we did.😅
They along with Gary Sinise are true good humans and patriots.
The Gary Sinise Foundation came after he played Lt. Dan in Forest Gump.
He also formed the Lt Dan Band and began performing for the troops overseas.
Every year he takes kids(and their families) who have lost a parent in the military to Disney World for a week.
Along with other veteran projects, the foundation refits disabled veterans' homes so they can live and function in them more easily.
They have many songs with more of this sound and others that are more of a heavier metal sound.
Oh, and in case she didn't see it earlier in the live stream please tell Mrs BP2 I loved seeing her pop in for a bit!😊
    WTF is twirling in tweed?😂
    Now that's a strange image I'll have all night.....🤣

FFC, no offence taken from the Slayer slam, you are right, metal is a big arena! I am so glad you spotlighted The Gary Sinise Foundation. His is our choice for giving, he GIVES to our heroes, no deep pocketed CEO's and shit.

Yeah, a lot of supposed non-profits could learn a thing or two from the Gary Sinise Foundation.
I swear I typed your name right this time, damn spell checker. 😆

I feel like I've heard this before 🤔 I also feel like this sort of song would be in 'Sons of Anarchy'. Maybe it was even IN 'Sons of Anarchy'?
Brian May bringing the Queen vibes there for sure! It got a bit too heavy in parts for my personal taste, but I get why you gave it a 'banging'.
    Nice pick, FFC!

If it's the song itself you've heard before it's because Kenny Wayne Shepherd wrote it and his band performed it originally. That was in the early 90s.
      Thanks! love these guys!
