The one thing that makes the Seventies the best decade ever in my opinion is the broad spectrum of the music 🎶 that came from it. With the sounds and genres emerging and evolving, the world 🌎 was playing a vast amount of different songs from different cultures and listening as well as enjoying it. This is one of the best examples of how artists were able to crossover from their own chart to another genre and not be called sellouts. And it still stands the test of time!
I remember when kool & da gang started, before they recording it was in da Bronx,69 or 70 they did a gig in a highschool yard.da name of da song was kool & da gang. Iwas hooked ever since!
I was 8 & My Brothers played this left & right until one of My Brothers left the record on the bed forgetting it was there and stood up on the bed and stepped on the record. He was real upset and My Mother was happy because she wasn't gonna have to hear it being played all day.
Bought this 8 Track Tape 49 years ago in April... 10th Grade... Totally Badassssssssss! Loved it... 9 minutes and 30 seconds each track if I Remember correctly... Thank You! A++++
Summertime Struttin down the Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, Blasting this jam on my Bose speakers headed for Nathans Franks for a hot dog and a beer...Life is simple and life is good...Check this one off the bucket list...Thanks.
More or less, it was an intro to the Disco era. I remember bumping with my 2 sisters in HS. Later, We went to the Last National Bank, the top Disco in the San Antonio area. I also remember the LNB had no competition.
Kool & the gang was one of the top bands when I was growing up dancing at the sock hops in jr High School, But not to many people knew that Kool & the gang also put out a album under a different name. That group's name was called The Kay Gees and there hit song on that album was called 'Keep on Bumpin' and it lead into the new dance craze the Bump and the Double Bump. The other groups that exploited the new dance craze called the Bump was the Commadores with there hit single named 'Do the Bump'. These two groups set the stage on the new Bump dancing music with these singles that rock the Dance floors with the coragraphic music that they played gave me a smooth rhythm on the dance floors. Classic unforgettable times for me and that will never be forgotten with me.
I remember! Yes I remember getting this as a Dj promo I played it at the beginning, middle & end of my set & the whole floor erupted every time & it’s still the same today 50 years later
Nice to read the background information about this song which I hear now for the first time. I know only the later songs. Nice and funky❤. Thanks for this one.
thank you so much for your great remixes, i'm a fan of their early stuff. especially like your revelatory and personal commentary to all remixed tracks, outstanding for a long term collector and dj in the early 80s. greetings from vienna, austria.
I won four backstage passes from a local AM radio station. Kool and The Gang was opened by the group War. The year was 1976.

@hermananderson The Seventies-arguably the birthdate of the OGs.😎
Plus those BANDS made their own music. There was no “sampling” stealing other people’s music or synthesizer machines.
Definitely capture the mood of the 70s a generation of Afro ,bell bottoms, fly cars and big fun all night long..I remember
Funk jazz tunes all day and all night long I love it.
