    According to Russia, it is continuing to advance towards the strategically important city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine. On Thursday, the Russian army reported the capture of the village of Mykolaivka, just 15 kilometers from Pokrovsk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously described the situation in the region as “extremely difficult”. Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported one dead and two injured in Ukrainian drone attacks in the border region of Belgorod.
    According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, in addition to Mykolaivka in the Donetsk region, the village of Stelmachivka in the neighbouring Luhansk region was also captured. In recent months, the Russian armed forces had been steadily advancing towards the important logistical hub of Pokrovsk and had reportedly captured several villages.
    However, the influential war blogger Yuri Podolyaka is not entirely comfortable with the success. The 49-year-old fears that Ukraine could be setting a trap for the Russian army.
