To all of my silver foxes out there, I want you to know that I fully understand the ‘struggle’ you may feel about rocking your gray hair. As a stylist, I have worn almost every color in the rainbow from red, purple, blonde, burnt orange, burgundy, and now I’m truly back to my ‘natural’ hair color - which is turning gray. I honestly think gray hair is GORGEOUS, but caring for gray hair has even been a challenge for me. But over the past few years, I have learned how to best care for my gray hair, and want to share my top tips with you!
My hair grayed early in life for me. In my 20's I believe. I have always embraced it. To me, it gives me softer look especially as I have aged. I am now 76 and I am the youngest looking person in the room. Put my smile on my face and a little makeup -now I am the best looking person in the room.

I’m at 8 months and can’t wait for total grow out. I’m 76 and I had to fight ‘you’ll look old’. Saving money and hours in the chair is the best. If men can do it why can’t we?

My plans to help my grey hair will be,
implementing things that I have learned over the years, from research.
Some of which I have learned from you.
1. Exfoliating the scalp on a regular basis to keep hair follicles unclogged from all the products. Otherwise, the moisture will not absorb.
2. Making sure to change the shower filter at least every 6 months.
3. Keeping my ends Clipped.
4. Hot oil mixed with Conditioner treatments on a regular basis.👌🏽
Everything, on a consistent basis.
My challenge is, what to use as a daily maintenance.🤔

yes. just learned that my salt and pepper hair needs to be moisturized every day and deep conditioning with heat every week after a shampoo. i spray with aloe vera water, a leave in cream, castor oil or grease. finally it's thriving. thanks

@@dorethamcelliott4900 you know what less is more. i am going to start using a little water and then oil and a butter or grease afterwards. or a leave in with a butter or grease after that. look at natural academia or indiginous strandz. they use the less is more approach. even though they are younger and don't have gray hair they leave their hair alone. mrs. mississiippi found an african woman who had hair to her feet that only used detergent to wash her hair and vaseline and she keeps it braided. my plan is to get my hair corn rowed and leave it in for two months and redo it every two months and do that for a year. i'm not going to wash it while in cornrows and let my natural scalp oil come through and do it's work. I love my silver hair. Many of my friends are dying their hair but I choose to be God's sliver foxy lady who shines with the Light of God as the glory of His presence shines in and on my crown of silver hair. To God be the glory!

My whole head is salt and pepper, i had my first strands show at 14 years old at the back of my head. By 25 I had a significant amout. At 49, I am nearly snow white.

I certainly appreciate all this information that has help me understand a lot more about my hair particularly since my gray and white hair seem to be rushing in like a flood I will be using this advice on my hair as soon as I get the products mentioned I don’t mind my hair graying I just want my hair healthy and beautiful and come out of the wigs that I now wear everyday Covid caused me to lose a whole lot of hair from bald spots to very thin and shorter hair and receding in my nap and sides I really hope the products work for me I watched countless vids and this one seems right for me… Thank you for posting I truly appreciate it 🤗

With low porosity hair, should one be using protein?

I decided to stop putting prems in my hair, I allowed hair to curl naturally, I just allow a beautician to color my hair and a lot of my hair fell out when shampooed.

Can you recommend other protein treatment products - I find Aphogee a bit harsh and messy. I currently use Joico K-Pak about every 6-8 weeks. Thank you for sharing the information.

When you deep condition do you also use regular conditioner the same day and if so in what order.
Hey there! No -- its the same conditioner. BUT, if you are doing a 2-step protein treatment (concentrated protein) then you followup with a moisturizing conditioner afterwards. Otherwise, you just use the one conditioner.

Absolutely! If you have very dry scalp, and it is creates buildup of flakes, the best way to hydrate the scalp is through regular cleansing, and you could certainly cleanse more than once per week. Absolutely. What are you using on your scalp?

Yes! Transitioning can be quite difficult and hard to maintain! Two textures is more difficult to manage than one. I transitioned for 2 weeks 😂

No no no! Never do a protein treatment after color. Just do a deep conditioner / moisturizer treatment! Great question

Hi Lorraine! You can sleep with deep conditioner from time to time: I wouldn’t get in the habit of doing it all the time as you can risk over moisturizing your hair. Also, I wouldn’t recommend sleeping with hair wet for a wash n go because you will disrupt the curl pattern with wet hair and create frizz.

Hello LaMitch! Simple answer -- your grey hair is much drier than your darker hair, therefore its more inclined to snap off! You need to be doing deep conditioner weekly. I’ve been fighting my grey hair for a number of reasons such as the age factor and I love uniformity. I am giving up the color because I feel like it’s not healthy and I moved to an area where getting my hair done is beyond ridiculously expensive. I am considering micro locs but if it’s $1000 dollars I will cut off all of my hair with a #1 blade at the barber shop.
😂. Now that is hilarious! And you can fully expect microlocks to be -- well -- around that price --- depending on your hair density and length. My sister just got her's installed and it took 12 hours

I have a naturally nice great of hair, now i have to work with my hair to restore my hair from the permanent hair color.
Permanent hair color can certainly be damaging - protein treatments, moisturizing treatments and gradually trimming off damaged hair may help.
I love my gray , I just don't like the way it's coming in.
If you are growing out color it can be difficult to embrace both colors so gradually cut off the colored hair.
