What a wonderful video. Would you share your recipe for the slip? I have been not been very sucessful in my attempts with this. My slip resist ends up getting fired permanantly to the pot instead of flaking off like yours. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely work Ive yet to try naked raku. What body are you using? And have you pre fired the pots to 900ºC? And last question (sorry) Who is the music by? Many thanks
Raku is the family name of a lineage of potters in Japan. The stuff that is called "Raku" in the west isn't even close to the original. It is an offense to the Raku name. Why don't we figure out a different way to call the genre? Western raku? Even that seems wrong.
Raku technique is NOT this. Show a little respect for authentic Raku ceramics because first of all what you are showing is not Raku and second Raku or Raku Yaki in Japanese is a trademark owned by the Raku Kei family in Kyoto, meaning that if you are not from this family or certified by it you are not allowed to call what you create Raku . All Raku are never glazed and it is entirely shaped by hand without spinning the clay . I am a little tired of people calling Raku , ceramics that are not Raku. Raku is like Chanel or Hermes if it is not made and fired in the Raku family and Raku family's Kilns. in Kyoto, it is a counterfeit and it is illegal to call it Raku. That is also why so many try to imitate real Raku and sell it as such , because some authentic Raku bowls made by Raku potters of the Raku family cost over 5 million dollars and some are museum pieces which are so rare , they are priceless and as revered in Japan and by connoisseurs as the Mona Lisa . This is where and how authentic Raku bowls are made by the 16th generation of the Raku family since they started making Raku bowls in Kyoto 450 years ago . Which is why comparing it to chanel or hermes is wrong because this is far older than these stupid brands . If it doesn't come out of this house and made by potters belonging to this house, it is not Raku . @ @
