RIP Mike Nesmith a music legend, passed away surrounded by his loved ones. My generation were so lucky we never had Kanye and Beiber to listen to, we had real musical geniuses.
Amen, brother! I said this since the end of the 70’s! They started out as a made- up band for a tv show we all lived, the music was great, and we have memories kids today don’t even understand, let alone can ever experience. I wrote this all about Melanie today. She was and is still a deep soul , loving girl. The Monkees and all the rest of OUR music, real music, real singers, real instruments they almost al played very skillfully, as they sang, you never see today. There is no music today, just noise, no good voices, just here and there, and filthy disgusting hateful words and ruination of lives, like our selfless police, women, and anything good. Just thank God we lived in a better time, and someone from our generation along the way raised kids that were awful and raised a bunch of hellions, with no love, respect for others, no God, no nothing, but empty souls. They and the ones who raised them, are too sad for words. We are the blessed ones, who were raised right, with sense, self-respect, and love of others. We can still smile, laugh, and enjoy every second of this great music, by such awesome good and talented people, musicians! I absolutely agree. I don't understand why they aren't in it. Micky is the only remaining Monkee...it sure would be nice if the Hall of Fame would honor the group while Micky is with us yet. ❤
I grew up watching the original 1967 shows , I like every other pre-teen (well I was 7)was in love with Davey ! I was lucky enough to meet Bobby Hart from Boyce and Hart, while camping with my family, he gave us an impromptu concert beside the fire 2 nights in a row, David Jones mentioned them in this concert, amongst others they wrote “I wanna be free, “I think the thyme song well a lot of others also. My dad paid dearly for those “concerts” because Bobby had Del Shannon’s son with him (maybe 10 years old)and we all went to the river to fish where the boy dropped my dads huge fishing tackle box with at least 30 yrs worth of tackle and other things into the river!!!! I was gutted for my dads loss but being the man he was he just shrugged his shoulders and said “well at least it wasn’t one of you kids”❤️🌈miss you dad!
I know what you mean. The Monkees were so much a part of my life when I was a kid. It's so depressing that three of the four of them are gone now. The years really do go so fast. 😭
If the Beatles continued touring it would probably be just like this. Joking around and playing great music. Thanks you Monkees for continuing to play live. They are all great talents and greatly missed. Mickey keep that tourch burning.
The Monkees always had great vocals. They grew into greatness on their instruments and they were great showmen. They simply had outstanding songwriters handing them melodic hits that are 100 times better than the ghetto crap of today. Their records were very well produced. They brought a lot of happiness to my home.
David Jones was a beautiful person and sincere. He invited me to see him play. I corresponded with David. He preferred it to Davy. The man loved horses. I never thought that when I was 10 and 12 that I would have David as a friend. Time is fleeting. Thanks David. Indeed a gifted talent.
I never got to meet or speak with David, so what I would have said to him I'm glad to have the opportunity to share with you: There has always been a close friendship between the people of the U.S.A. and the people of the U.K. and if America has been good to you, David, then I as an American and as a fellow musician am gratified by that.
I had the joy of spending time with David over the years as I had a friend in his band. He was an utter joy and I tear up every time I think of him gone. He talked in Boston about one day opening a bar all horse themed with barstools made from real saddles. I also loved going to see Peter with Shoe Suede Blues. I didn’t know him as well but he was always so sweet and approachable and so damn talented. He played like a dozen instruments. I’ll always love and miss them.
This was a great concert!! Their funny and witty banter was hilarious! I saw their show on tv when I was 11 in 1966, Love all the Music, even music made when they did solo albums. Still love them to this day, only wished my two daughters got to watch their show and hear their music.Micky was the only Monkee in 2022 and 2023, great concerts, I've been to 3, my younger daughter 2 concerts, she said she would go again! Thank you Micky for keeping up the music, so the younger generations generations can enjoy!!❤ RIP Davy, Peter and Mike. Great backup band here at this concert and when Micky Dolenz is doing Concerts! This is great! I met Pete and Micky at the Palace Theater in my Hometown of Columbus Ohio.. Two of the coolest men I have met... I was so in awe of them in front of me that I cried... Pete put his arm around me and posed for a picture... Micky was well reserved and got me with his famous HELLO.. He signed my photo and moved down.. He did come back for a photo op.. Then he said "Thanks for coming hon.. HE TOUCHED MY HAIR... Then pete and I talked for a few more minutes.. He asked if I had a ride home.. I told him about my service and he wished me a safe trip home.. I wished him a safe time on the road..... It was a happy and sad time.. So lucky I saw them 4 times.... Never forget...

Thank you, but I especially have to give a big hand to Mickey Dolenz. Over time his talent just carried every Monkey with grace and love. I think each one had his special talents as musicians and performers, but Mickey was the backbone that brought it all together. His love for the Monkees as friends and bandmates is phenomenal. I can't imagine how lonely and hard his losses have been. hey hey Mickey we love you.
Came here this evening, after we lost Mike. The Monkees, all 55 years of their up and down time together, were my heart and soul. Not sure what I'm supposed to do for hope now.
I watch this video often;not only because I enjoy Micky,Peter & David but because of this fantastic band! Sandy Genero, Wayne Avers, Dave Alexander and the late Jerry Renino. And Aviva and the boys in the horn section. Very talented and a joy to listen to!

I've watched this many times, and it never gets old. The energy is amazing! They still sounded wonderful, too. I especially like the end where Peter runs back onstage and Micky and Davy chase him down. He was always so funny; they all were. It's so sad without them. Love you Micky! 🥰 RIP sweet angels. 😇😇😇

This is the way that real music is supposed to sound. How dare anyone ever insinuate that the Monkees weren't real musicians. In addition to making amazing music that will hold up forever they were also brilliantly witty and funny. I had the pleasure of meeting Mickey and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was a 6 years old kid when The Beatles came to the U.S. but my parents were not fans so I didn't know anything about them, but when these guys debuted on TV I was older and I immediately became a Monkees fan. My brothers and I played their records and grew up loving their music. Some yesrs later I became a Beatles fan when I reached my teens and was glad to learn that they, like me, slso loved The Monkees, John Lennon never missed their TV show and even considered them the funniest act since The Marx Brothers, a testament to their artistry.
I like all classic rock pretty much. The big 50 or so bands, and the other 250 or so too. And several Monkees songs are among my all time favorites. I have realized this the past 15 or so years. I am 55 years old now. Mickey's voice is great rock voice. That's the beauty of classic rock. Doesn't have to be perfect, all it has to do is make the connection. They made it to my soul. I don't need a singing voice to sing along and feel it. Even as a young kid, really young, I recognized Stepping Stone as a great song.
I can't explain what this does to me...happy and sad, in my youth and in my twilight...all at the same time. Thank you Monkees. You brought joy into my life so many times. Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye.
Growing up in the '60's...it was not the Beatles...but the Monkees that inspired me to become a musician. I have been writing and preforming ever since. Great to see them together, great memories, great concert.
You know. We miss our music. These musicians we totally loved are allowing us to visit a younger day and time. I have even gotten tickets to Fab four. So close to the Beatles in sound and presentation. Why can't we be 60 something teens again. Introduce our grandchildren to this great sound. 😊
@@peterkirgan2921 I just read that they fired Aviva Maloney after Davy passed away. Terrible story. She was with them for many years. Peter and Micky had to settle the lawsuit she filed, and rightfully so.
Agree with Mike Nesmith when he said Micky's extraordinary voice was what gave the group its distinctive sound, not that the other guys couldn't sing, they did, but his vocals were incredible !!! And on top of that his drumming improved a lot, considering he learned to play that instrument on the march.
Wow, Peter playing Bach! That was incredible. I couldn't play Bach, I found it difficult, but I did love to play Beethoven. That Peter had all those notes memorized really blew me away.
Thank- you for this. This video is a gem now. With Davy, Peter and now Mike gone. Concert footage like this is priceless. Micky is now the only member of the band living. Great memories.
This show made me laugh, cry, tap my toes and remember how much I loved this act since the 60's. Mike would've added greatly to the show but it certainly didn't lack entertainment value. It was these 4 guys, long before I embraced The Beatles that hooked me on pop music and most of it holds up today.
Not sure how much more I can watch before I just break down. I was blessed to see Davy in concert a couple of times and remember what a consummate performer he was. When Mike and Micky put their show together, there was no way I was going to miss it and actually got to see them together twice. The affection these guys had for each other was so obvious. At each passing, my heart breaks just a little more.
What a GREAT concert !!! Wish only Mike would've been with them. They were fantabulous as kids... and even BETTER 40 years later !!! Not many of us can say that Thank You Monkees for your Love and All that Energy 🌹🌹🌹🌹💞💞💞💞

My kids grew up listening to their mom's (my) music. In 1997 David, Micky and Peter did a show at Funfest in Kingsport, Tennessee. I took the kids to see them. There was such a large crowd that it was hard to see...however.... i could hear the guys (missed Mike) that by then had been a big deal to me about 31 years. My son was nearly 14...my daughter 10...we had a ball. Great memories that I am thankful for.
This is a brilliant concert, these guys were incredible showmen, engaging and making fun of themselves. I lost my younger brother at 61 last year, he was a big Monkees Fan when he was little. When I got to Davy singing I Wanna Be Free, I lost it, that one broke me down....at least now he gets to meet Davy and Peter...
Sadly that will never happen, or if it does they'll probably wait till all four of them are dead. Mike Nesmith might have a better shot at being inducted as a solo due to his contributions to country rock and the creation of MTV

When the Monkees came out, I was in 5th grade and I soon found out that it was uncool to like them because they were a " made- TV band". Well I have tremendous respect for them and now I can admit that I was a secret admirerer in 5th grade.. Peter is great, and Mickey carries the whole thing with his voice more than any other. What a voice! His new album "remember" is great. What can I say about Davey. Great guy who died before his time. Tragic. Just wish Mike had been there.
@@piperdgarciaYou missed seeing FOUR rock groups; Hermans Hermits ( yes, they sang " There's A Kind of Hush") - Gary Puckett and the Union Gap ( Gary sang " Young Girl") - the Grass Roots, and of course, my Jewels, the Monkees in 1986 I saw all that for $17.00 !!! In mid-August there were hardly any seats left, others were in D and L sections, mine was in C section.

'The Girl That I Knew Somewhere' is such a GREAT song! Written by Mike. Nothing reminds me more of my childhood. That and 'Going Down' another self penned song with incredible vocals from Micky Dolenz.
Damn, what a fabulous show, I grew up watching these guys and never knew about their later musical careers. Eat your heart out Beatles, these guys are the real thing. So......talented, both musically and as pure entertainers. They were better in 2001 then they were in their youth. That performance is among the best. There is an excellent reason why Peter did very little singing on the records.... his singing "talent" never cut it.
Micky is my favorite. I just love him. I enjoy his musical and acting/comedy talent. He's so cool

I was a 6 years old kid when The Beatles came to the U.S. but my parents were not fans so I didn't know anything about them, but when these guys debuted on TV I was older and I immediately became a Monkees fan. My brothers and I played their records and grew up loving their music. Some yesrs later I became a Beatles fan when I reached my teens and was glad to learn that they, like me, slso loved The Monkees, John Lennon never missed their TV show and even considered them the funniest act since The Marx Brothers, a testament to their artistry.
They are amazingly gifted men loved them as a young girl & still do!! Very jealous of that lady you got a kiss from Davy! 😘🥰

I like all classic rock pretty much. The big 50 or so bands, and the other 250 or so too. And several Monkees songs are among my all time favorites. I have realized this the past 15 or so years. I am 55 years old now. Mickey's voice is great rock voice. That's the beauty of classic rock. Doesn't have to be perfect, all it has to do is make the connection. They made it to my soul. I don't need a singing voice to sing along and feel it. Even as a young kid, really young, I recognized Stepping Stone as a great song.
I have never watched this concert. Felt like I was there. Brilliant. So happy when it was over...and a little sad.

Growing up in the '60's...it was not the Beatles...but the Monkees that inspired me to become a musician. I have been writing and preforming ever since. Great to see them together, great memories, great concert.
You know. We miss our music. These musicians we totally loved are allowing us to visit a younger day and time. I have even gotten tickets to Fab four. So close to the Beatles in sound and presentation. Why can't we be 60 something teens again. Introduce our grandchildren to this great sound. 😊

@@peterkirgan2921 I just read that they fired Aviva Maloney after Davy passed away. Terrible story. She was with them for many years. Peter and Micky had to settle the lawsuit she filed, and rightfully so.

Agree with Mike Nesmith when he said Micky's extraordinary voice was what gave the group its distinctive sound, not that the other guys couldn't sing, they did, but his vocals were incredible !!! And on top of that his drumming improved a lot, considering he learned to play that instrument on the march.
Wow, Peter playing Bach! That was incredible. I couldn't play Bach, I found it difficult, but I did love to play Beethoven. That Peter had all those notes memorized really blew me away.

This show made me laugh, cry, tap my toes and remember how much I loved this act since the 60's. Mike would've added greatly to the show but it certainly didn't lack entertainment value. It was these 4 guys, long before I embraced The Beatles that hooked me on pop music and most of it holds up today.
I still love Davy, he was my first love when I was 5 years old in '66. I'll love him forever. RIP Davy Jones, you made a lot of people happy.
Not sure how much more I can watch before I just break down. I was blessed to see Davy in concert a couple of times and remember what a consummate performer he was. When Mike and Micky put their show together, there was no way I was going to miss it and actually got to see them together twice. The affection these guys had for each other was so obvious. At each passing, my heart breaks just a little more.

My kids grew up listening to their mom's (my) music. In 1997 David, Micky and Peter did a show at Funfest in Kingsport, Tennessee. I took the kids to see them. There was such a large crowd that it was hard to see...however.... i could hear the guys (missed Mike) that by then had been a big deal to me about 31 years. My son was nearly 14...my daughter 10...we had a ball. Great memories that I am thankful for.
This is a brilliant concert, these guys were incredible showmen, engaging and making fun of themselves. I lost my younger brother at 61 last year, he was a big Monkees Fan when he was little. When I got to Davy singing I Wanna Be Free, I lost it, that one broke me down....at least now he gets to meet Davy and Peter...
And now Michael Nesmith. I'm so sorry about your brother, too. May he rest in peace.

Sadly that will never happen, or if it does they'll probably wait till all four of them are dead. Mike Nesmith might have a better shot at being inducted as a solo due to his contributions to country rock and the creation of MTV

When the Monkees came out, I was in 5th grade and I soon found out that it was uncool to like them because they were a " made- TV band". Well I have tremendous respect for them and now I can admit that I was a secret admirerer in 5th grade.. Peter is great, and Mickey carries the whole thing with his voice more than any other. What a voice! His new album "remember" is great. What can I say about Davey. Great guy who died before his time. Tragic. Just wish Mike had been there.

I saw The Monkeys live in 1986 during their 20th Anniversary tour. I was 9 years old, and it was awesome.

@@piperdgarciaYou missed seeing FOUR rock groups; Hermans Hermits ( yes, they sang " There's A Kind of Hush") - Gary Puckett and the Union Gap ( Gary sang " Young Girl") - the Grass Roots, and of course, my Jewels, the Monkees in 1986 I saw all that for $17.00 !!! In mid-August there were hardly any seats left, others were in D and L sections, mine was in C section.

'The Girl That I Knew Somewhere' is such a GREAT song! Written by Mike. Nothing reminds me more of my childhood. That and 'Going Down' another self penned song with incredible vocals from Micky Dolenz.
Seeing Micky running, jumping, dancing, sliding all over, under and around the stage singing "Goin' Down" was the show stopper of show stoppers!
This has so cheered up a boring Sunday afternoon. Such talented guys.

Damn, what a fabulous show, I grew up watching these guys and never knew about their later musical careers. Eat your heart out Beatles, these guys are the real thing. So......talented, both musically and as pure entertainers. They were better in 2001 then they were in their youth. That performance is among the best. Thank you for all the hard work, and the amazing band.
