Pretty cool how you went from editor to full on co-host of the channel, which is a perfect segway into my question. What editing software do you use? Also, how did you learn to edit? Did you just hop into and watch tutorials and the like? Or did you go to some kind of film school? Would love to know. Anyway, thanks for making awesome content!
We use final cut pro for editing. Mike already had editing experience when he started and I helped him transfer the skills over to final cut. The rest we pick up from searching/online tutorials etc. It's not hard to teach yourself tbh there are some awesome tutorials on RUclips
Pretty Good Gaming Oh, alright cool. I was thinking about starting my own channel soon and am trying to get as much advice from my favorite youtubers as possible. I was going to try either sony vegas, or Premiere. I guess I'll have to make that decision on my own though haha. Thanks for the info!
The reason a lot of RUclipsrs use Final Cut is how cheap and easy to pick up it is compared to the others. $200 for a software that they initially sold for over $1000 i believe, and you can see why - it's a very powerful software. Of course you need a decent mac in the fist place
Pretty Good Gaming I'm a PC user myself, so Final Cut isn't really an option for me unfortunately. However, Premiere is based on a $20 subscription service now so thats not too bad, just it had a higher learning curve than most programs. I had another question though, would you suggest someone try and start a youtube channel? Like attempt to make a living off of it?
don't ever rely on RUclips dollars. You always need fallback at the very start as its such a hard place to get started, it's so competitive these days. As for advice my top 3 tips would be 1 - Stay honest and reply to your viewers, engagement is the key. A few thousand engaged subscribers are more valuable than tens of thousands of disengaged subscribers. 2 - Your main focus must always be on improving the quality, use all the information at your disposal, learn what works and what doesn't, take inspiration from the youtubers you like and don't be scared of changing what doesn't work. 3 - Don't wait for the videos to be perfect as they never will be, you will - so long as your over 90% happy with it just publish it and move on.
