I ran in the Kinvara 11s my senior year of high school! Won a district title in XC and two district titles in track in the 1600/3200 double. That shoe was a great trainer and will always have a spot in my heart!
I started in the kinvara 7! The versions keep getting better. Interested if the stack height makes a difference. More of a firmer shoe overall, but that's what makes it great. Thanks Seth!
I train in the 13s for recovery and easy days, however I have also ripped a few 400s in the kinvaras at the track. q I love them. I did see an individual wearing the kinvara 13s at the Amsterdam Marathon. I would never run a marathon in them, but it's a testament to the kind of shoe the kinvara 13 is. A truly versatile shoe.
I've used the Kinvara since day 1 used to be my favourite shoes to race 5k to the half before carbon shoes. Now still use the Kinvara for training. Always enjoyed the experience gets better each time ❤
QD: I was first getting into running and having a hard time finding shoes that worked for me. I got the Kinvara 12s and immediately loved how natural they made running feel. I ended up getting a 2nd pair when the 13s came out and just got a pair of 13s this year. I use them for all types of runs, though I do mix in the endorphin shift 2s on easy days. I'm nervous about the slimness you mention about the 14s, so I might try to snag another pair of 13s while I can!
Had 2 pairs of the 11 and ran about 600km in both. Loved them!! Upper felt really nice. Love the 4mm drop. Just got the 13's and ran 32km on the weekend and liked them. Didn't feel quite as soft as the 11 but might change a hit as I run them in. I missed the 12 since I bought the second 11's discounted end of cycle. Love your work man! New favourite channel! Big love from James QLD, Australia.
QD: I ran in the K10 and K11. They were my favorite shoes of their years; I ran a lot of miles in them. I tried the 12, naturally, but found it to be too harsh. I suspect it was the removal of the Everun/PWRRUN+ footbed. Excited to see that they brought it back.
I started my running career in the Kinvara 7s and I’ve ran my entire high school, college, and beyond running in the kinvaras. I’ve loved every model since i started in them. Can’t wait to hop in the 14s!
Little bummed because I just bought another pair of 13s because they were on sale and are my favorite shoes I’ve ever trained in and was afraid they would change too much. Very glad to hear they seem very similar, hopefully they’ll stick with small refinements going into future versions of the shoe too
QOD: I started with the Kinvara 11 - the best yet - then got me both 12 & 13 which continued to improve nicely. I'm so excited for the 14 doe to your review, so I'm already putting money aside for them 👍
I’ve been training in these for a while now. Love them, with the rubber on the toe was a little longer down and maybe just a little more rubber on the bottom total
my daily trainer and long run shoes used to be the saucony freedom iso. speedwork and race shoes up to marathon were kinvaras. now i see comments talking about vaporfly only enough for them up to half marathon when few years ago vaporflies were considered ridiculously high stack height only rivaled by hokas
I started with the Kinvara 8, and the model has been part of my shoe rotation since. Love the shoe! The news in the video is promising, and I'm looking forward to working with it.
Have the 10, 12, and 13. All still in my rotation in Sept '23, although I bought the 10s when they were yesterday's news on sale and left the box in the wardrobe for over a year. Great review of the 14 here so will have to consider when the 10 is finally spent.
I am in the Kinvara 13's now. I am up over 1500 km in mine. They are standing up well. They may need to make it a couple hundred more as we wait for the 14 to be launched in Canada. The one little concern for me from this review was the tightness in the forefoot. If the upper is as flexible as the 13 and it is not too extreme, they could be ok, but what can kill a shoe for me is too much pulling across the knuckles of the foot.
I owned Kinvara 4, 7, 10 and 12. My best was the 4. Unbelievable shoes! The best of the best. I have run 2300km with them. Very smooth shoes, comfortable but responsive. Like a butter. Top! The 12 is the second. I purchase the 13 for 65€, (France) crazy price! I hope it will be better than the 12 and more smooth!!
I started with the 1 and went all the way to 7 and started to favour the NB 1400 instead. Came back in the 12 and use 13 now. Despite the high scores of the 14, I worry my feet won't like it. I always develop hotspots on the foot on high stacks shoes including the Mach 4. But I will have to try it based on your reviews..
Years ago I was running the Kinvara 3 and they left me with the impression of being an excellent shoe, all terrain, comfortable and light. I got used to them and more or less ran 18 to 22 km per week. Now, I am waiting for the 14. In an upcoming video I would like to hear about the Kinvara Pro. Thank you.
@@SethJamesDeMoor thanks Seth! Also, how would you compare these to the Rincon 3? They’re one of my favorite shoes currently and seem to be in a similar category to the kinvara
My first Kinvaras were the 4s - which were a completely different shoe more closely related to the "minimalist" lineups. My LRS actually suggested them to me when I asked for a good shoe for running track intervals. I really fell in love with the Kinvara line when the 5s came out - those shoes were truly slippers with a tread.
QD: Used the K13 for my first half marathon after started running for just 2 months. It was raining heavily before the race started and thankfully, the shoes remained light enough despite being soaked. Good memories!
QD: I've run in Kinvara 8, 10, 11, 12, and 13. The 8 was the best and most durable for me (900 miles!). I really like the 13 and am a bit bummed about the stack height in the 14 but I'll give it a try.
Kinvara has been a favorite for many years… my only frustration with it was the sockliner… it would roll out the sides of my shoes while running.. it really bummed me.
This looks fantastic. Past kinvara have been a little lean for longer runs for me. The extra stack height makes this shoe extremely versatile. And light! And value!
I bought the Kinvara 11 (after watching your review!) a few years ago looking for a flexible, lower stack, lower drop daily trainer when the pandemic shut downs pushed me to get back into running. It served me pretty well, but the one thing I didn't love was the insole. There was a small layer of powerun + on top of the midsole, and I found using a thinner after market insole gave a much more comfortable sensation! I'm concerned with the increased stack, but very excited to see their using the powerrun+ insole. I love that combination in the Peregrine and xodus, so pretty excited to see how it plays out here :)
I purchased the Kinvara 13 based on your recommendation. I need to pick up 1-2 more pairs while they are on sale but am also looking forward to the 14.
I’ve liked the natural feel of Kinvara, starting w/8. The glued (lightly) topsole of my 10, 11, and 12’s have sometimes needed a little trimming and/or repositioning to feel perfect.
I started with the Kinvara 4. Instant love. At the time no one else made a shoe like it. Have stuck with it ever since, reliable, not over engineered, my go to trainer for almost every kind of run. Firm and snappy, everything I want in a shoe. Went a bit weird a few years ago, started to see some flabbiness enter the picture but the 12 was the best one yet. Close to perfect. Currently wearing the 13 and looking forward to the 14. The Kinvara is my ride or die shoe!
Currently running in the Kinvara 13 (my first Kinvara) and just came back from a 14km run in them. Can't wait to get my hands on the 14. Hopefully they run a bit longer than the 13's
Loved 11. Even did some 1/2 marathons in them. Nice cushion and light. 12 is good but only for short runs around 3-4 miles. Is 13 more cushioned like 11? I’ll cop the 14s once the 15s arrive. Always buy these for around $60 2 11s and 2 12s so far
QOD: Kinvara is my go to workout shoe of choice. Started in the 11, but 12 has been absolutely awesome! Since I buy outgoing models on sale it'll be a while before I get the 14 but am intrigued.
I think my first and only Kinvara was the 2. Can't remember exactly, but the upper was like thin plastic. Loved the it, but took a break from running and needed more cush by the time I returned. Looks like this one has enough stack and I prefer a firmer foam so I'm sold 👌
Hey Seth great vid, need your help. I need a daily trainer and m confused between Ride 17 and Kinvara 14...i tried ride 17 and loved the firm footing, however toe box was lil narrow. Which one wud u recommend out of the two?
QD: No! Which leads to me wondering why you did not mention the purpose of this shoe? Seemingly firmer than the Speed, lower drop than the Speed, cheaper than the Speed, both clearly relatively lightweight but you clearly way prefer this to the Speed. So why?
I’m guessing he probably prefers the lighter more natural feeling Kinvara than the rockered endorphin speeds which I love both. I rather get my daily miles in the Kinvara as long is it’s not longer than 13 miles I go for the speed better tempo and long run shoe
I had the 10 and am still running in the 12 occasionally. The new shoe technology has the Kinvara niched down a bit for me: I used it mainly for short, fast intervals and track sessions. The Streakfly and Takumi Sen 8 have taken that spot now. But I think the Kinvara still is a great shoe that lets you do the work and trains some foot strength during the occasional base run. Don’t know how the increased stack has changed that in the 14 though…
Kinvara 8-11 here… multiple pairs of 9s and 10s. Lost me with 11 and beyond. Looking forward to the higher stack, was hoping for more cush feeling than you’re describing but I will still check it out.
how does this shoe compare to the ride 15? Similar midsole technology with power run + insole and power run midsole and similar stack height. Is it worth the purchase if I already have the ride or does the 4mm drop in the kinvara make the difference?
I ran in both the 10 and 11’s after switching over from the NB zante line of shoes. I loved them but started to get a bit of PF pain simply because I didn’t have a large enough shoe rotation built with enough cushion built in. I think I’m ready to explore the 14’s now :)
i tried to get some footbeds from Saucony but could not get just them :O so i took it from my old ride 15 and put it in my speed 3´s and now it is more amazing :D
Old school here: liked early Versions #3- 6. First they got rid of the lugs. Then 7 or 8 was a change that just did not feel right. Put back in the box. Tried them again a year or two later and coild not wait to get them off my feet. Not sure what they did to them Maybe me, who knows. I see some selling for $50.
Question: I’m on my second pair of Kinvara 12. My first pair was good for 420 mi but my second was only good for 200 mi and my under soles are worn out at the ball of foot. They’re flat and no treads left. Beside increasing my running pace what could be my problem for wearing them out so fast. I had the same problem with the On Running CloudFlyer and ASICS Nimbus 21, 22. Please help me because I really love the Kinvara. 🤔 Hope to have a longer life span with the Kinvara 13. Any hints will be appreciated. Tks.
My first 5k shoe was the Kinvara 3, still my fastest 5k to this day in that shoe. Then I had 6, 8 and 11. When I had the 6 and 8 I was still using the 3 for 5k's only.
I have trained in Kinarva, but I can't remember the version. It could have been 9. I wasn't thrilled by it because I like more padding than it offered. But I just found a pair of 12s on sale for $67.20 less 25%....$50.40 CDN! So how could I not give the model another try.
so the footbed makes up the score for ride/ energy return then...? I wonder if the adizero sl had the same/ better footbed will it also make a better score...?
I have the Kinvara 12. I loved them at first but then found them a little "boring". What I mean is I found the exposed rubber on the outsole a little too monotonous. It got me thinking that I prefer shoes with a combination or materials under foot, may be not so soft. I wonder if it has changed in later iterations
QOD: Had the 11 but it was not for me. However I bought it on clearance and didn't hesitate to give it away to someone else that was a bit lighter. I think the 11 was bad for heavier runners.
I started on the Kinvara 11, but the upper started splitting from the outsole around the seams and I ended up glueing it back together. I’m hesitant to run out and buy another pair any time soon based on my experience.
i just found an offer in germany for 110€- but the colorway otherworld and also others i see online seem to have a different inner padding under the ankles. also a real different upper. no mesh. or at least not the same mesh. doesnt look bad, but less padding. is this usual when you test shoes that are not the same that get sold to the public later?
This might be getting into a very competitive territory for 5k/10k racers. Still a tad heavier than shoes specifically tuned for racing but at least this one can handle some training beforehand.
Thanks for the great content as always. I run in the 13s and currently have two pairs, one for training and one I'll run the Leeds Marathon in this may. So about the stack height, I'm really worried, I walk in barefoot shoes and the last thing I want in my running shoes is to feel like I'm walking on balloons...you said they ride like the 13s but don't you feel 'less road' if you see what I mean? Just ran 27km with my 13s this morning btw :)
So about the outsole: is the white ribbed section rubber too, not just the two small black cutouts? Because if it's just foam, I think I'm going to pass. I don't want a training shoe with an outsole of 95% foam that's going to get thrashed after only a few runs. If it were a straight-up race day shoe, that's different, but I want my training shoes to have some longevity.
Seth, I am in Europe. Would any of your suggested suppliers work here? Buying in US and bringing them to Europe would create some customs and taxes issues, which could significantly affect the price of the shoes. Would you run a Marathon on the K14 or the Asucs Noosa? I am avoiding on purpose carbon plates shoes. Still fan of your reviews after 4 years watching daily your life evolving. Regards.
Hello Seth. I have a shoe question for you. I’m listening to your RUclips review on the Kinvara 14s. I’ve had the 10s-13s and they actually seem to be getting worse. My 12s have been the strongest so far. My 13s fell apart in the mesh at 100-150 miles. I usually get two pairs (black and American flag design when available). Also, how do they fit compared to the Pro 3’s? I have the Pro 3’s in the same size and they are tearing up my toes when I run. I bought the Speed 2’s as well and I had major knee pain with them. I live in Japan for the military currently and no one sells them where I live at specifically so I need to order online. Any feedback would be grateful. Great job on the page and channel. Take care and have a good week.
QD: I got the 12s last year and the 13s this year on clearance. If the 14s are still available when my 13s wear out I’ll get the 14s. But I got 4 pairs so they could last a while.
So I ran in the 13's, but due to my weight (coming from my height, I'm 6'1), my legs couldn't handle the minimal cushioning and stack. Also Seth, curious. Has a shoe every gotten a 10/10 on any aspect of the shoe? I watch a ton of your shoe reviews, and haven't seen one before.
As a woman who has problem with shoes being a little tight on outside of my foot (you mentioned the slimness in that area) I was wondering if buying a men's 7 instead of my usual women's 8.5 could be a solution. Does anyone know the is there's a difference in roominess between men's and women's shoes?
The Triumph is a much heavier shoe and more suitable to moderate to slower paces and longer runs. I suspect it would have greater durability. The Kinvara 14 is a feather-weight shoe and not as squishy-soft a midsole as the Triumph. If you can try them both on somewhere that will probably make it a clear and easy decision.

K11 fan checking in! Was a great low-stack companion to the Novablast 1/2. Great for anything under 6 miles
Right on!
Started in the Kinvara 7! Gnarly shoe
For those missing the lower stack Kinvaras, look no further than the Saucony Convergence which is basically the old style Kinvara for $70.
Great Review Seth , You noticed you didn’t state how you would use this shoe or maybe I missed it but could you please state . Thnx !!!
Which would you recommend the kinvara 13 or the 14 ? There both available here ..
My first kinvara was kinvara 3..I run in 11,12 and 13 currently..
Way back, nice Freddy!!
I ran in both the 10 and 11’s after switching over from the NB zante line of shoes. I loved them but started to get a bit of PF pain simply because I didn’t have a large enough shoe rotation built with enough cushion built in. I think I’m ready to explore the 14’s now :)
Honestly this guy's energy is a blessing for me...does really bring up the spirit a little
I love his energy but I think his scoring system needs a major overhaul
i tried to get some footbeds from Saucony but could not get just them :O so i took it from my old ride 15 and put it in my speed 3´s and now it is more amazing :D
Smart move Michael!
QD: Only K10 for me, not my favorite running shoe - but this K14 looks indeed pretty tasty!
Tks.
Wich one would you choose? The Kinvara or the Noosa 14?
Hi Seth! Any idea why this shoe got such a low score on runrepeat?
Thanks for your reviews, love 'em. Cheers!
Can you do a shoe battle between the kinvara and the noosa?
So how much tighter in the mid is it compared to the 13? I already am at my "limit" with the 13s due to my flat footedness in the wide version lol
i just found an offer in germany for 110€- but the colorway otherworld and also others i see online seem to have a different inner padding under the ankles. also a real different upper. no mesh. or at least not the same mesh. doesnt look bad, but less padding. is this usual when you test shoes that are not the same that get sold to the public later?
QD: I have the Kinvara 11 & the Kinvara 13 thanks to you Seth.
Yeah it's mostly exposed outsole. No rubber. But people always report they get way more miles out of a kinvara then they expected
QoD: Kinvara 13. It's my track day shoe. Not enough outsole for my liking for anything else.
What has a bigger toe box, the 13 or 14?
I’m pushing 200lbs, any heavier runners think the Kinvara is forgiving enough? Torn between giving this or the Triumph a go.
I tried the 11, and it didn't work for me. I haven't tried another yet since I don't do much road running but I do like the look of the new ones!
