My cat, Owen used to get REALLY mad when it rained--he'd go to the open door and just start cat screaming, refusing to go outside, and look at me with distain.. One day I said "what!!??"--he promptly went into the bathroom and started screaming in there looking at the SHOWER. In his little cat brain, he thought because I could turn off the water in the 'little' room, I could turn off the water in the 'big' room (outside). My failure to do so was just an affront to him.

"Why rain" made me laugh so hard - my little Maltipoo has the same expression when I take her out to poop in the rain. I feel it means "Mom, you are useless if you can't even make good weather".

I believe some dogs understand far more words than we think/believe. I think Bunny tries her best to pick up more language than she has available at her paws via the buttons, and that she understands more words and grammar than the buttons allow her to express.
Well once the concept is clear enough, an intelligent enough animal will use it for its own needs. No surprise there.
She is putting words together now, like she said "smell sound" for Fart:)

Bunny looked so cute while she was waiting for the explanation about rain. It really looked as if she was trying to understand. I hope her tummy gets OK soon, so that no more tummy concern.
Breaks my heart she has pain. My dog thankfully isn't as bad as he used to be, but I know all about boiled chicken. Keeping his food on a strict routine and seriously, a calm happy atmosphere at home has made a difference over the years. ❤ ya Buns

I would actually take the opportunity to explain the real science of rain to Bunny, as it's not really hard to explain. Warm days make water go up (and you could show this with a pot of water boiling on a stove with steam going up), and cold days make it fall down. Of course, there're complications, but this would be a basic explanation that Bunny could definitely understand, I think.

I came home one day to find one of my dogs chasing his brother with a knife. Fortunately, Louie had the good sense to run. I can't imagine how I would have explained knife wounds to the vet.
My dogs are both big ones and I have to be careful of leaving knives on the kitchen counter top.
@donnaronio3553 My dogs were big ones too, but I didn't leave the knife on the counter. He got it out of the knife block. I came home one day, and they had taken the towel rack off the bathroom wall, and I found the ceramic end pieces in the living room unbroken. It was difficult to stay one step ahead of them.

Bunny is the reason I ordered some talking buttons for my CKC mix! He's only about a year old and he's SO smart - he looks at me like Bunny looks at you, like he wants me to explain everything. We just started training yesterday and I'm so excited to eventually hear what he has to say!

Yes, she often does back-foot-button-pressing. That's her trick. She is very clever!
I had to do the same with my dog. When I switched to boiled chicken breast (without antibiotics) his pain subsided a great deal. I also paid very close attention to all of my dogs needs, you’re doing a fantastic job; you have a good heart! Good luck to you and yours.

So sorry Bunny is having chronic digestive issues 😢 This could be related to mold toxicity. I have mold illness and my dog got sick from mold too. Also some types of molds produce oxalates in the body which can exacerbate gut issues as well as joint pain, bladder and kidney issues, anxiety, insomnia, etc. You can become very sensitive to oxalates when sick from mold toxicity. A lot of dog foods have ingredients that are considered medium to high oxalates such as white and sweet potatoes, beet and spinach powders, wheat, millet, buckwheat, peanut butter, nuts and seeds, etc. Hope she gets better soon 🙏❤️
I adore Bunny, and your interaction with her is priceless. Whenever I a watch you all, I feel like the worst doggie mom ever. I was over the moon just house training a chihuahua, and getting my beagle to understand and comply with the command (request, beg, plead, and bribe) to “come here”.

It breaks my heart when I see that look on Bunny's face...obviously in pain. Not sure if this will help Bunny but one of my goldendoodles has pancreatitis and we almost lost her. We were told by our vet that if we didn't start feeding her human-grade food with nutrients added, Lily would be dead in 30-60 days. Our vet had us switch to Just Food for Dogs but it was really expensive so over time I started cooking the dog's food. I buy their nutrient powder but I make their food myself. 10 lbs potatoes, 8 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, 2 12 oz pkgs of frozen broccoli, and 4/5 of a cup of safflower oil. With my two standard doodles, I go through it in about 4 days (I feed twice a day). We've been doing this for over 3 years now and have never had another bout with pancreatitis since! Hope that helps.

Suggestion: add taurine to the food; potatoes (and legumes) deplete taurine and can cause heart problems.

I feel for you and Bunny with her tummy issues. I live with a ten year old min pin and we’ve been battling with his tummy issues the whole nine years he’s shared our lives. It’s so frustrating, especially when some of the triggers for episodes are stress and anxiety related.
While Bunny and Alexis certainly make us laugh, Otter is the true comedian. Because, he knows it and owns it.

Are you certain she doesn't have ulcers? Our standard poodle had bloat ( very quick to emergency vet) followed by an ulcer. It took a while for the vet to really believe me, nd when checked, yup, there was the ulcer. For years he had rice and chicken three times a day. I cooked the rice in my slow cooker. We were able to finally wean him onto a kibble that he liked. No more tummy upset. He ate when we ate. The kibble was always down. His weight did not deviate from 54.2 pounds over the last years of his 10 year life. He was self regulating, eating when we ate, just enough and no more.
I'm sorry that Bunny has tummy problems, too. It is just a godsend that she can tell you about it.

Have you seen the videos of Billie the cat who uses buttons also? She is chronically sick, & with the buttons can indicate body areas that are painful.
Her human also has used the buttons to explain that ‘medicine ouch go bye’, helping to get Billie’s cooperation in eating the medicine.
Maybe you can explain about the special food with the buttons.

Im no vet or anything but I live in a place where we dont have access to good vets and we have to go to the city for treatment. My dog (8month old westie) suffered from very bad stomach issues. He was always in pain and passed blood in his stool with mostly undigested food. The vet couldn't do much. I took to boiling rice and chicken mince in a pressure cooker together with a tiny pinch of turmeric and fed him just two spoonfuls of this i fed him every two hours and after a week i made it three spoonfuls every two hours and his health and appetite slowly improved. Also gave him two cod liver oil capsules every week. After two and a half months he was okay. He is five years old now and is a happy dog. Just sharing this with you just in case you may find anything helpful here. Buns get well soon baby girl❤❤❤

Bunny became too smart and now she started to realize that she is not a human. She now is struggling with depression. She said on her buttons "Bunny not mom, Bunny stranger."
Witch meant she wasn't a human like her mom she is a dog.
Explaining rain should be easy enough. Like, explaining that water goes up somewhere else (i.e. 'outside outside'), makes a cloud and then falls down as rain.
Hope Bunny gets better soon.

Regarding “why rain”: I wonder if she might enjoy some kind of very simple, PBS Kids-y science TV show made for young children? She’s SO curious about the world… I know a lot of dogs like watching nature documentaries, Bunny might be able to handle some slightly more complicated stuff
The ironic thing is many of my human clients describe intrusive or racing thoughts as thinking circles. Some are a “a drunk monkey with an accordion to the pony ride at the zoo” where the anilmals (thoughts) plod along.

My Anatolian gets that way with the cat. It's funny and heartbreaking as well. I can see her dogs and mine are vying for some kind of pecking order. I feel like I need to figure out the canine psychology so I can help my girl feel secure and know her place without doubt or insecurity. The cat doesn't seem to worry about the pecking order, although I see cats can be jealous. She is young and came in second, so maybe that's the difference
My dog used to have the exact same gastrointestinal issue as Bunny until we learned that he is allergic to chicken, turkey, lamb, and beef. If we gave him these foods he had extreme abdominal distress, bloody poop, and terrible gas. The sad thing is the vet kept putting him on prescription chicken food which always made him sicker. We researched online and found other dog parents discussing their dog's allergic reactions to chicken and beef, so we decided to take our dog off of the prescription food that was literally killing him, and started feeding him salmon and rice dry food. Our dog's health literally improved overnight. He is active and vibrant and youthful again. One year later and no pain, and no messy poop or terrible smelling gas. Thank goodness!!!

I love Bunny sooo much and hate that she has pain. It seems the exact cause is unknown but have you ever tried detoxing with colubrina. It is a homeopathic and saved my little yorkiepoo after toxic overload from vaccines. Hugs and love to y’all Otter and Tennrec are super awesome also. Bunny was first! Because of her I speak to my dog differently and even without buttons and can see her ‘thinking circle’

I saw that too, and thought Batman as well! lol It’s actually just a cowlick, my dog has one in the same area and when I groom him the clippers clips that hair shorter because it’s growing the opposite direction of all the other hair. Although, my dogs cowlick doesn’t look cool like the Batman logo… I only wish! 😂
Lots of doggies carry their Superhero sign there. You have to look for it though and, being a secret identity, they don’t always say what their superpowers are. You just sort of know…

I believe she was taught or has seen one. For what it's worth as related subject, in one video, she looked out the window, saw a bird, and said "bird go belly," and her person laughed, asked her if she wanted bird go belly, and confirmed that it was a bird.

That could well be true, because every species has their own scent, right? So birds smell like birds to dogs, and cats smell like cats, and squirrels smell like squirrels, and dogs smell like dogs, which is what made it extra humorous that both Bunny and Otter referred to Tenrec as a cat when Tenrec first came. By Tenrec's scent, he could have been identified as a dog.
@@cacatr4495 the tenrec/cat made me think of the biography of an autistic lady who at first told cats and dogs apart by size. Cats were small and dogs were large. When she learned that it wasn’t size she had to find a different way. She studied pictures of cats and dogs until she decided it was nose length. Dogs had long noses and cats had short noses.
That made me wonder if Bunny wasn’t making the same mistake with Tenrec. Tenrec was small therefore he was a cat.
A selection of Chinese herbs really helped our dog with inflammatory conditions with other meds didn't, perhaps Bunny should try some.
