Runescape has had some broken money makers over the past decade that has led to the methods being immediately patched and fixed by Jagex. Some players who abused the methods were banned, other's managed to keep all of the wealth they made. These are some of the most broken osrs money making methods of all time!

@@Pidbullz Whenever you upload a video to RUclips that has a sponsorship in it - you have to confirm on the settings page that the video is sponsored - that's why at the top left of videos that are sponsored, you'll see the "Includes Paid Promotion"

I remember there was an exploit with Barbarian Assault Omega Eggs. People were able to smuggle them out of BA and alch the eggs for 100mil each. That's why it's mentioned on the wiki that the item value was decreased back to 1gp.
Edit: As someone else mentioned. The eggs were suicided and turned into gold on death. That's why the value on the wiki didn't mention an alch value!

Iirc they were unalchable but it turned to coins on death in the wildy so bot farms were suiciding hundreds of mills a inv.
BA also used to give runes and you could store them in ur BOB summoning familiar

Here's a video idea. Years ago silentc0re had a series talking about all the legendary staking glitches. That was one of the most fascinating series I've ever seen. Maybe you could make a remastered version of that series and go over the same staking glitches with a new perspective. EDIT: I think he was with Machinima at the time so with the Machinima channel gone a lot may have been lost. But you're smart and can figure this out.

When the bh crater was made, there. Was a money dupe where you could leave and get the cash you paid to get in, but it never reduced your coffer. Got patched within hours of release I think. This is back in the day
That was the crucible in rs3 original bh crater in rs2 had a different leave entry mechanic
@@choppahmix Crucible came out before rs3, I remember pking there not long before eoc was released. Made bank on my 1 def pure with 99 summoning, everyone would just leave when they saw me and i'd get some sort of penalty gp when they left.
It wasn't 'banned' in the traditional sense but it was certainly patched. I remember when either the Ring of Wealth got upgraded, or the Corporeal Beast got added to the game, or both. An update made the Ring of Wealth more powerful, where it would say "The ring shines more brightly!" if it did something to add to your drop chance. This worked on unique drops at well. People would do masses of corp, with every member wearing the new version of the RoW. In a group with like 40 members, it was almost guaranteed to get sigil drops, and I saw many videos of clan doing corp and getting back to back to back to back sigils. They heavily nerfed or changed it after a couple of days, but the initial influx made those clans billions. I don't know the specifics, but it might be fun to sus this one out.
I remember that, that was mad. It was a glitch between the ring of wealth and lootshare/coinshare. I think people just did Corp because it was easy to mass. Funny thing is, when coinshare was in the game, it gave you a split of gold based on the grand exchange price, not what the item eventually got sold for. So even if the sigil prices dropped, it didn't matter as the grand exchange only updates its prices every so often. Also they never did a rollback or any bans because they said only a small amount of items came into the game (lol) and also didn't ban anyone as the players may have just thought they got lucky with the update to the RoW (lol)

At the beginning of fresh start worlds you could access your clans coffer in the main game. Take it out in FSW sell to a swapper and put the osrs gp back in the coffer and repeat
There was one glitch involving dying in the deep wilderness after smuggling the eggs from Barbarian Assault. They would get their converted to their alch value which was $100M ea. Eventually this glitch was botted and you could go to one of the burning amulet telespots and see these bots dying with an inventory of these eggs creating a max cash stack every so often. This was patched by reducing the alch value of the queen eggs from 100m gp to 100gp.
Not osrs but in rs2 Jagex updated the price of climbing boots from ~1k to 75k in an update. Some players had thousands of boots in their banks and started alching them after the update because they alched for around 25k each. Not sure how much gp came into the game from the update but it was quickly patched
They never reverted or patched this. It was an intended update to make pures risk more
@@helloigo you’re right, I must have remembered incorrectly. Just looked into it a bit and they actually alched for 45k each and Jagex never patched or hot fixed the update. Crazy how they put something like that into the game
Hearing the words "while guthix sleeps" filled me with longing and nostalgia for the runescape i knew and loved i remember the day that quest was released
There's actually still heaps of hidden money maker methods in the game (both good, bad, and some even broken) that no one knows about. You just have to get really, really creative and explore parts of the game people typically don't pay attention to
Achey logs used to slow-sell for decent amount of money(around 3-5k). The time invested in buying them from the shop near castle wars netted to roughly 15m gp/hr - altough they would take pretty long time to sell.
I do wonder who bought all those logs from me. I might've supplied whole games' supply of achey logs for some time.
@@tappajaav yeah, the same shop actually sells relicyms balms for a hefty profit margin as well. if you teleport to cw with a ring of dueling then you can bank them really fast too. this is still pretty okay profit if your account is in the early game still
@@scrung Far as I remember I tried balms and they were nowhere near the profit achey logs would give. So they weren't worth buying in the slightest
I remember seeing the Dagon'Hai clip on a Machinima series, RuneScape Underground or something. I sadly cannot currently remember the person who created the series, but it was entirely removed when Machinima shut down.
Would love to see you cover the 76k glitch and the death potential bug where people would get crazy drops.
It’d also be super cool for you to do a series on RS bugs/glitches that affected the game, like the hand cannon glitch on RS2, and that one glitch in old BH crater where typing a certain symbol made everyone around the player DC

Mistake in your video: You can still dig up other players their Gout Tuber. They just have to leave the area.
i remember when i was a kid seeing the video of the dagon' hai robe tops and wanting to do the quest so i could do it too. never ended up doing the quest though

Mum I made it into a Soup vid! The tzhaar venom bug was so weirdly fun but so strange at the same time, really glad it got patched out but those who abused it got a big boost in their col log progress, sweet video man!

I think it was Silentc0re that had a video about the Dagon'hai robes. I quickly checked his his "Epic runescape glitches" playlist on YT but couldn't find it. The playlist does say that theres 2 hidden videos on there however, so it might be one of those? Or maybe it was haxunit?
When I was making my ironman I did the karamja method with battlestaffs to make money. i had over 200m cash on my lvl 103 iron at 94 crafting. it was broken.
I heard where someone made OSRS quest guides so good, they got banned from doing them...

Here's a few. The barbarian assault egg glitch that bot farms were sneaking out and dying with in the wild for 100m drops. Those guys in early OSRS who were death breaking to be invincible and unnattackble to get infinite XP and spam kill the Corporeal beast and devalue Elysians. The twisted bow spawn. Also the Twisted bow's damage got capped early on when it was killing Godwar bosses in a few shots.
My clan used to do the gout tuber money maker all the time! The leader always told us to sell them slowly.
In rs3 there was recently a bug that was abused where they would dupe may caravan dices to get clue rewards and gp. Duped or the scrimshaw duplication bug bringing in billions of gp
The 76k glitch was big.
Jagex made loot on PKs random to try and curb real world trading, and you got potential rewards based on your and opponents risk, but you only needed 76k to get the best rewards. You also needed to have been risking 76k for a period of time in the pvp world. So people would take their 76k out, and splash on one another somewhere remote, then one would kill the other and get a drop like a DFS which was worth millions.

I played during the WGS Dagon'Hai drop trick. Back then, we tried to abuse drop tricks for every quest item. Dagon'Hai was profitable. Most of the others were useless.
back in rs2 there were 3 methods i used that lasted for such a long time i managed at least 20b gp profit.. only not getting more because i hated the repetition.
1) the dagon hai robes
2) summoning came out.. you could feed a bunyip a 2k rocktail and recieve like 15k in water runes. this got patched after i started dumping the rune hoard that i was trickling into the market prior.
3) after the hd update, you could time farming a tree w a server update and then harvest unlimited fruit from the tree. this was patched after one time it got stuck on check health and i managed almost 10 mil exp in less than an hour.
also, i never got in trouble for any of these methods, could times, and therebis still a cheese method like these avaipable rn in osrs but it still works soo ill never tell tehee
800m was produced a day from it, so jagex realized theres a problem... now we have bosses that are 10m/hr+ with chances of rares. I kinda miss when skilling was the best money maker, when someone had money, you knew they where a grinder.

There is a recent banned money maker guide that got patched on the 18th January this year
On almost every world, there used to be 2-3 bots in the Wilderness God Wars Dungeon. Each Ecumenical key used to be a high alch value of 61,500gp
I would try scouting across multiple worlds and find dozens of them.
They would always be in the lower level ends of the dungeon, giving them plenty of time to teleport out from any PKers trying to take their loot.
Because they had no Combat Achievements completed, and their stats were all around 50/60 in all melee stats, they don't need prayers.
They would always wear a zamorak robe bottom, a monks top, a bandos headpiece and an armadylian cloak
The bots would go to the icefiends and the pyrefiends as they were the lowest level NPCs other than the imps, if they detected the smite prayer they would instantly teleport
Each key is a 1/60 drop. which on an hourly average, you can kill around 50-70 icefiends/pyrefiends.
Meaning each bot on average would obtain a key for 61,500gp (mind you, there is normally 2-3 on each world)
On most worlds I would hop around to, I could estimate around 2-3 bots on 40-50 different worlds I would try to hop to
120 Ecumenical Key bots on average gaining 61,500gp each hour was looking at 7,380,000gp an hour. Some of these scripts most likely ran overnight
If you were to have them obtain Ecu keys for over 24 hours, the total would come to 177,120,000gp in 1 DAY
I think while i was grinding for keys for the ironman, I saw them there for a solid 3 weeks. That would make them around 3.7B in a week UNDETECTED
Until Jagex made them unalchable for money, I havent seen a single bot there. There were a few broken scripts that stuck around but the rest shortly left after

A strange moneymaker I used to do years ago was buying broken dragon hasta's for cheap on the GE, bringing them to Otto to repair them, and sell them back for usually atleast 1k profit per hasta. It has low trading volume and buy limit, but if you leave a good offer at the GE for awhile you can slow buy some for decent prices. You won't make a ton of money in a short time but it was obviously very afk, which makes it decent for the time you have to invest in it.

invincibility glitch used to bot farm corporeal beast. 40 accounts x ~200k/kill x 8 kills/h
Used to do the goutt tuber method as a clan, with 20-30 people over a bunch of worlds and when one person found one we all hopped and dug at the same time. was like 10-20m an hour, but would crash them so you could only do it so often. The smart ones held and sold later on. Used to get so fucking excited
I did the gouttuber method preeoc with a team of 30 people in a clan back in the day. We found 6-15 tubers an hour and they were 650k at the time. So 180-450 tubers an hour.
I guess “These methods were so broken, Jagex patched them” isn’t as sexy a title, huh

Dude I fcking love these vids. You should do old 2007 scape as well. Anyone remember snake skins on Mos Le Harmless? It wasnt banned foresay but it was heavily nerfed. I used to make bank off that like 3-4k per snakeskin and they were level 27

There was a odd monemaker back in the day where the price of seeds was affected how many you got from a minigame(cant remember the name it was the original place for imbued rings where you fight goblin armies etc)
cactus seeds were 1gp in ge because of the buy limit (25 or 100) but the seed shop bought them for good money and you could only buy so little from ge it was ok but since the price was 1gp you got millions from the minigame reward and made bank
You can still dig up other players Gout Tubers. They just have to log out. You can't dupe-dig though.
Unusual money maker for you: Buying Neitiznot helms from the actual NPC for 50k when the helms GE value is above 50k. Made over 2M an hour when they were 55K

There was just a episode on behemoth or runescspe chronicles that showed faux finding a gouttubber and digging it up. Then hopping to another world and finding another one? So I'm confused. If it was patched in 2017 and only the person who found it can dig it up how did faux find one from another player and dig it up?

RS3 godwars 3 or something bug. U could skip the entire raid and go straight to the RS3 bossfight to farm it for loot. Saved like 30 minutes per fight....

PVP world EP bug. SUmmon monster - fill with items - go f2p and die over and over - go back to p2p world and re-collect your items, go kill someone for guaranteed insane loot
Dude, I heard of this insane money making method called amature submarine crafting.
I don't know if this is a money maker you've done before, but gold leaves buy in keldagrim from the stonemason for 130k and as of today sell on the GE for about 138k. Would be interesting to see how much you'd make in an hour with the method!
Cant remember if it was pre eoc or not, but the cruicible dup had to be the most broken bug in rs history imo.
Kinda sucks that you can get banned for using an in game mechanic to make money like the karamja gloves and shop

Not really. You can buy bulk items with better alch margins straight from GE.
Idk if it counts as a money maker more than a glitch but a long time ago a Halloween update glitches and when you died it dropped coins. Me and a buddy killed each other over and over made about 400m b4 the update timer kicked on to fix it. We didn't quite understand how roll backs worked at that time we spent 30 min trying to trade drop and buy stuff to wash the gp in hopes of keeping it. Back then even a green cash stack was alot we were shaking the hole time

I remember there was a bugged world where you could get free or reduced runes at aubury, I got like 3m in air runes just spamming buying air runes and sold them on the ge, mind you I was a little kid and was pumped as all heck.

I still don't believe the soul wars bug, I wish someone would investigate further cause i can see the daily volume being a coincidence / mercher, buuut i guess it would be a weird coincidence for all of the rewards to be up in daily volume so much at the same time. Jagex would know 100% if it happened or not tho.
Some things are better with a bit of mystery, we may never know if that dupe actually happened or its some private server nonsense

It's not hard to believe at all. For years the imbued black mask had no defence requirement. Meaning 1 defence pures could wear a 10 defence item. Some steel weapons did not have any attack requirements for years.
Not confirming it did happen of course, cause I can't. I'm just saying there's been similar oversights on item qualities.

I realized the dagon hai robe exploit when i was doing the quest back in the day, but out of fear of having my account banned i didnt abuse it.

I wish I found a money maker. My only money maker was selling Rune satchels for like 5k each back when Tower of Life was new and no one knew what they were.
The most I ever made on osrs was bc of dmm swap to osrs avrging 30m a hr for a good 3 or 4 days

Whats the point on using soul wars to imbue rings when you can just do nightmarezone and it gives you full price back if you ever want to sell the ring back.

It'll be patched soon but currently theres a jogre bone exploit for ironmen and bone farming is super profitable 1.7m an hour at this very moment but was like 3m earlier in the day.

Not so sure this was a glitch but it was definitely an exploit. Beginning of 07scape when they started giving out holiday items partyhats, hweens, Christmas crackers etc. you’d stake someone, have multiple people in each duel arena who would use Christmas crackers on the opponent and fill up their inventory so if they won, the entire stake was dropped on the ground and anyone could pick it up.
