    really wondering why he did not call out the velocities as he was shooting.

    I got the exact same thing. Trying to find a 5.25" .45acp slide so I can get the 460 rowland conversion for the longer slide too. Your feeding issues are solved by buying the higher pressure magazine springs. I haven't had a single failure to feed with those installed in my mags.

      @tacticalsanta5258  4 года назад +3

      Actually, the two magazines I was using had their extra strength springs in them. The feeding issues seemed to subside at over time, so I suspect there was some 'breaking in' going on.

      The fnx 45 conversion ships with high strength springs and stock springs. You mean there are even high strength springs?

      @@daryljacksonjr.6113They do ship these with extra strength recoil springs, but if you want an extra strength follower spring from your magazines (something .460 Rowland.com recommends, but I was able to run standard Glock mags in my TNW carbine chambered in 460 Rowland without issues, but it does appear that the extra capacity mags will need some help to cycle well.

      Since this video, I've had the opportunity to run another 100 or so various rounds through it and it's now cycling without issues. But oddly, I just dropped my Aero Survival Rifle chambered in .460 Rowland at TNW yesterday for warranty repair. It was just after my third time out with it, and the third time I couldn't run even a ten round mag through it without having cases separating about two to three rounds in. When I say separating I'm not taking about splitting, no other signs of over pressure. It's a relatively clean separation around the radius at about 2/5th the way down from the case mouth. I does seem like the case mouth, that has to be tapped out of the chamber with a patch rod, is a bit jagged suggesting the chamber wasn't bored out deep enough and the mouth of the case is being wedged into the lanes and groves when it's chambered and extraction is literally taring the spent casing in half. Nice guys, seemed genuinely concerned and upbeat about getting it running properly. Plus, they know I know where to find them :-D

    And the lower than advertised velocities are from the shorter barrel length. The numbers they predict on the boxes are with a 5.5" barrel. Currently had to abandon my hope for a 1911 doublestack 460 rowland, since there are no ds 1911's with the proper barrel config required by the 460. A Glock 21L is probably my only recourse at this point to match what another glockt-to-460 rowland guy got with his 6.6" conversion........a velocity that with 185 grain slugs would deliver 1240 ft-lbs. That's solidly in the 44 magnum mid-range for a 7" barrel.

      I've probably ran over 400 rounds through it by now, it took about 100 before it broke in, but now it runs flawless. I had it with me out deer hunting this year in a Gunfighter, Inc Kenya chest holster loaded with some Underwood 255gr hard cast. Didn't need to use it, but I was 100% it would take care of business. Since this, I've put another 460 Rowland brand conversion barrel in a Springfield Armory Range Officer Target, and it has run flawlessly since round one, though the manual safety is kind of stiff compared to with the stock barrel, it's since has broken in too. I also have a TNW ASR rifle chambered in 460 Rowland, but I had to buff out the chamber on it before it would run without pulling the case in half upon ejection. I know they out-source the barrels, but do the reaming of the chamber of a 45 ACP barrel themselves and it appears it's still a bit rough. That too runs great, but only with the G30 mags, I've got stronger mag springs on order from 460 Rowland.com, so hopefully that fixes it; whatever gun you run this round in, be sure to get the extra power mag springs. Right now I'm gathering up the parts for a Polymer 80 - 45 ACP build, assuming it works out, I'll probably get a 460 Rowland conversion barrel for it too, but I'm still not sure if I want to convert the G21 slide, or build out a separate G41 slide. Anyways, yes, I would recommend putting a 460Rowland.com barrel into any firearm you have for which they make one; just be sure to get a couple hundred rounds through it first, so hopefully you handload.

      This isn't a popular round, though it should be. As a result, there's not a lot of demand, so there only a few companies making these barrels. If after market barrels for Glock weren't so popular, they'd probably be much more expensive. Basically there's nothing inexpensive about this round.

    4:00 into the video. Not gonna bother watching the rest. I hope you still have both hands.
    There's obviously a MAJOR issue going on. STOP. DO NOT KEEP FIRING. The gun wasn't made for it, and there's way too many things that can go wrong with these rounds/this load if it isn't working properly.
