- Truffle oil cocktail recipe - how to fat wash alcohol
The Gold Rush cocktail is an incredibly easy cocktail recipe but to stand by its name, it needs a little boost. That why today I'm showing you how to fat wash bourbon with truffle oil to make the best Gold Rush you've ever had. You can apply the same technique if you want to know how to fat wash a spirit or how to fat wash alcohol. The specs can change but the technique is the same.

Dope cocktail 🥃🔥
Thanks mate! How you been doing btw? Dealing ok with lockdown?
First of all congrats for the channel, you guys have a really good balance of technique, style and professionalism! I used to work in a bar in Berlin where we used truffle oil for Bloody Mary. Simply delicious! I'm gonna try this fat wash but with nice olive oil - I'm not a truffle lover! hehe.
May I ask you where did you buy your shaker? :)
All the best for you guys!
Cheers from Buenos Aires!
Thanks a lot! That Bloody Mary sounds legendary! You can get the shaker using that link www.cocktailemporium.com/collections/truffles-on-the-rocks and you can get 15% discount on the glass shaker collection if you use Truffles15 at check out. Cheers
love it!! your channel is highly underrated
Thank you! Means a lot!
Wow! The production of your videos are so well done. Keep up the great content and I'm sure the subscribers will follow 😀
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate! Cheers!
You, Sir, are an artist!
Thank you so much!!! ☺
Infused the bourbon, added ginger to the simple syrup let you know how it taste tomorrow.
And so?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks it is incredible love it , suit the cold weather here in alberta , snow is falling here
Imagine ordering this at the bar....lmao
I've done fat washing before, but never thought to do it with truffle oil!
And to top it off, not only do we get an amazing cocktail idea, we get an amazing popcorn idea on top of it! This channel is seriously the best!
Edit: I've already broken out my truffle oil and started the wash - it smells amazing and now I just have to be patient. (I doubled the recipe though because I have a feeling 6 oz of that stuff won't be enough for me!)
Oh man! You comment is the best! Thank you! Really appreciate it! It's true that 6 oz of that liquid gold doesn't last long. Please let me know how you like it! Cheers!
How do you make that garnish? It’s Beautiful!
Thanks! I give a full tutorial about it on this video ruclips.net/video/YleLAScOH1o/видео.html Cheers!
Hey @trufflesontherocks im trying to make a truffle fat washed mezcal for a riff on a negroni. Just wondering what do you think ratio wise i should go for for fatwashing truffle oil with mezcal. I definitely want the truffle to be prominent in the the cocktail but not overpowering.
Such a cool idea. Is white or dark truffle oil better?
Thanks! Mine was black truffles extra virgin olive oil
I don’t have any bourbon on hand right now, do you think this could also work with cognac? If not...I’ll have to buy a bottle tmr 😂
Well I don't see why it wouldn't work. Would yield a completely different drink but I'm sure it can work out. Let me know ;)
where is your beautiful volumetric flask from? x
Hey man, it’s from Studio 50
bourbon popcorn?🤔
That dope!
Truffle oil in a cocktail? Seriously???....You are amazing!!! OMG I just want to have this cocktail right away!!!
You are amazing!
Love this. The Clarified Milk Punch NY Sour was so great, and very simple - the most uncomplicated version I have seen anywhere ! Will certainly try this fat washing technique. Thank you Sir.
That's great to hear! I really appreciate my friend! Have fun and let us know how you like the fat wash when you try it. Cheers!
For a better texture you can add egg white, and instead of fat-washing you can leave eggs in truffle oil for a few days and they get oil aromas.
Interesting. Have you tried that before?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocksIt's one of my favourites.
Can you fatwash the whole cocktail together in one bottle? Thanks
I am sooo not a fan of glass shakers. 1 word: microshards
Hey amazing work!!! How long the truffle mix can hold without problem? Two-three weeks? Thanks
Probably several months. Alcohol acts as a preservative and oil is pretty shelf stable so oth together have a loooong life. The only problem I can see with this is the truffle can maybe turn after a while or dissipate. But again, I think it will take quite a long time for this to happen.
Hey Truffles on the Rocks. Thanks so much for showing this technique! My brother and I were at a nice cocktail bar and the lady that served the most delicious truffle old fashioned didn't want to reveal her secret but only said "fat washing". Now I know her secret thanks to you! Gonna surprise some friends soon 😋
Hey Johan! Thank you so much for this. I'm thrilled to hear you will try it. Cheers!
You Rock! Another recipe I am going to have to try this weekend. Of course... I go overboard and will truffle infuse an entire bottle of bourbon. My mason jars are getting a workout.
So glad to hear that! Don't forget to let me know how you like it! Cheers!
Maaaaan You Da Best ! Please more content 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻
Thanks! We try to keep up at two vids a week!
Have you got any ratios for fat washing as I would like to try this and the bacon one but don’t won’t to use two bottles. Thanks 😊
Hey there, try with a simple rule of three and it should work. Cheers
Are you using white truffle oil or black truffle oil?
True I forgot to mentio that. I used black truffle extra virgin olive oil. Cheers
I don't to manage understand because...but I love your videos..I can't wait which is Friday..😂😂
Your garnish work is the best! Please do an episode on that
Thanks! I’m planning on making a second on. It’s in the pipeline for 2022.
Love this. Quick question: can we clarify the fat wash?
The straight answer is, yes! But the real answer is, I don't see why you would unless the fat wash is the only way to give said flavour to your cocktail. Hope that makes sense. Cheers!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Thanks! I am trying to work on a wagyu-fat washed whiskey and I want it to be purified. A few quick questions (maybe ideas for you videos haha) in your opinion what is the best way to purify juice (straight through a filter or with thickeners like agar)? Also, what kinds of juice has the enough acidity to do a milk punch (like does apple juice work)?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Also just wanna say im a big fan of your channel!
This looks so wild, can’t wait to try this!
Thanks! Please let us know your thoughts when you give it a try. Cheers!
I needed this video. I’ve been making sesame oil flavored martinis by adding a few drops of oil but they are always too greasy. Now I can try this method. But I’m also making the truffle bourbon. Merci!
That's awesome! I'm so glad I could help you to solve that problem ;) Cheers!
Looks and sounds great. Will make it in the future. I have a rosemary oil and Tuscan oil I can use which would work well. Now about that popcorn 🍿 recipe 😉
HAHA!!! The Pop Corn! A little bit of salted brown butter and the bourbon truffle oil. Thats it!
I've done fat washing before with browned butter and rum and then used the rum in a hot buttered rum cider for holiday party and saved the butter for pancakes lol
Great idea!!! I LOOOOVE brown butter for fat wash. It gives such a delicious butterscotch taste to the spirits... Cheers!
found you with the recent garnish video you posted. Great work, keep it up! Where do you find those great little round bottles and the stone platform?
Thanks! I really appreciate! These little bottles are from Studio 50 in Canada. Cheers!
I do have some truffle honey lying arround. I´ll make a syrup from it and hopefully get something similar
Man! I'm sure it'll be fantastic! That was my first idea but coulnd't find any near by so I went for the fat fash. Please let me know how it turns out. Cheers!
Dude I literally have all these ingredients on hand already. This video has made me so fucking pumped it is unreal haha
Spencer Park haha!!! So great to hear! Please let me know how it turns out for you when you try it. Cheers
Usually I am not a fan of truffles, except @trufflesontherocks of course, but I will be eager to give this one a try when I get the chance.
Great video again. Thanks
Cheers!
HAHA!!! Ouf that's good to know ;) If you are not a fan of truffles and still want to try it out, cut the truffle oil quantity by half. You will still get quite a lot of flavor but it wont be as powerfull. Cheers!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Note taken! :@)
I have all the ingredients so I’ll have to try this out! Thanks for showing us how to fat wash. I’ve always been interested in how to do it but too lazy to research, haha!
HAHA!!! I hope you'll like it. Let me know when you try it. Cheers!
Great content on this channel! That is a beautiful shaker, could you tell me where I can get it? :)
Thanks! BYOB cocktail emporium IG in Canada. Cocktail kingdom if in the States.
Great content!
Amazing! Can't wait to try this the weekend. 👍🏻
Hope you’ll like it. Let us know ok?
I really like your little bubble bottles. nice vid, ...as always.
Thanks!!! Cheers!
Amazon > Truffle oils > triple pack (white English and black) > add to cart. Thanks sir! Now I just need to wait for it to arrive! 😀🤘🤘
HAHA!!! Amazing! Can't wait to hear your thoughts my friend! Cheers!
Truffles On The Rocks I’ll keep you updated!
We need a video where you show us, how you garnish your cocktails!
Copy that! That being said, that zest was explain it that video ruclips.net/video/YleLAScOH1o/видео.html
why would you not call this cocktail truffles on the rocks?
I think we should create something completely our own. Not a riff on a classic but ... You are right, we need our athem!
Good job man!! I really like your channel
Thank you so much!
That sounds like the cocktail equivalent of a velvet robe. Nice touch with the quick recipe at the end too. “Top 5” drink videos are great and all, but what you did is a nice alternative to using up the rest of a special ingredient. 🥂
Thanks! Never heard of the velvet robe.
I meant that this drink is luxurious, like a velvet robe 😂
You made the cocktail and the popcorn sounds so good!
The first time I made Pop Corn with the "srcap fat" from a fat wash it was for Dale DeGroff. He was judging the World Class regional finales in Toronto and it was my side serve and he loved it... Bucket list item CHECKED!!! ;)
