So, today I got to Play The Beatles 7th studio album & number 14 in the DeAgostini's Beatles vinyl collection "Revolver" Released 5th August 1966, and my favourite Beatles album.
From "Taxman" right through to "Tomorrow Never Knows" this album is just excellent, The Fab Four were top of their game in 1966.
enjoy the ramble!
For those who are interested in the missing Beatles Mug escapade
I recorded the hard to hear phone call, so subtitles have been provided ;)
Thanks Goat for the help!
Thanks for watching
subscribe to the ramble
i love this album, have a real appreciation for it due to my mum playing it all the time when i was a boy.
her favourite song of it is tomorrow never knows, which is also my favourite, just one of the best songs and albums ever. another really cool thing is i own a pre released version of the album that belonged to my grandpa because he was a journalist for the flying Scotsman back in the 60s and reviewed music of the time, so he got a copy early which is pretty cool and the version he got also features a rare version of tomorrow never knows which I love.
The most joyous listening experience there is. I challenge the music world of the future to come up with an album rivaling this during my lifetime. Pff, like that would ever happen...
Absolutely Gustav, Revolver is a Masterpiece indeed. cheers for watching
Gustav Häggendal are you kidding?? They can't even come up with an artist these days that can produce anything recordable!
I have the uk 1st pressing mono version, beautiful album
Panda Gaming sounds awesome
...and me.
Brilliant, brilliant video. Revolver always was and always will be my favourite Beatles album.
Michael70 cheers Michael thanks for watching mate
Love laying down here eating french cheeze and listen to your analysis. You are as dedicated as my dad.
The Beatles are one of the best bands of all time, so original and so many different styles of music on one album as well.
Another great video review, even told me a few things I hadn't heard of before. Haha! Yes that's the lady I always speak to when I call up.....love the captions at the end, pure magic!
Good review and very funny subtitles to the indecipherable accent from the lady at Deagostini. Yep Revolver is easily their best album and I have it in mono & stereo ....a classic !
Yeah -- I get those same excited eyes, when I say the words 'Taxman' -- my favorite Beatles song.
The Beatles and the jam...best two English bands ever x
Sorry for laughing Stripey but the tears were running down my face listening to that phone conversation and reading the subtitles, hilarious. However, no joke in reality, customer care in this day and age, eh?. Just hope you get the mug, I await the next installment. Your best first play yet, by the way.
Ian G lol I'm glad you enjoyed the subtitles/ phone call Ian. ;)
Without a doubt a watershed moment in The Beatles career. I think George Harrison is right on the money when he said that Rubber Soul and Revolver were in his mind a double album. That he felt the same vibe with them both.
Great videos mate. I love The Beatles. I haven't got the vinyl any longer. But I have all the remasters and revisit them everytime you make a video. Not that they don't get played weekly anyway. The whole Beatles catalogue is just a joyous experience.
All the best mate. Great work
He is just spitin facts
It sounded like you said the tax was 19%? I think it was about 95%
Jordan Smith it was 95!% Jordan I was just rambling on and said it wrong lol
19 for you 1for me =95% for the government and 5%for the Beatles
The 'wealth tax' rate in 1966 when the album was released was set at 83% of earnings. This still left each Beatle with $188 million in today's money that year. Just an interesting bit of trivia.
Another great video Stripey!! Revolver is one of my favorite Beatles albums. The subtitles for the phone call was awesomely hilarious!!🤣🤣. I had to watch it again!😁👍
Kevin McLaughlin hahaha glad you enjoyed the phone call Kev
I love the contrast on Revolver between Paul's love songs and John who didn't write any love songs.
Great vid Stripey, thank u. Revolver has got to be my favourite Beatles album. Like u say mate, they were on fire in 66 and 67!. I probably would say it's my favourite album off all time, that and Tanx by T Red. Bit more trivia for you. John Lennon said Here There And Everywhere!. was his favourite Beatles song!. Probably my favourite too. A beautiful song!. which I could listen too anytime!. Keep them coming Stripey!.
BEN BRENNAN I do like a bit of Marc Bolan myself especially cosmic dancer
Electric Warrior great album, what an album!. that would be a good one to get on vinyl mate!. If you saw it at a good price somewhere!. Ah mate Bolan! what a guy!. How about this Stripey, I thought about it as I was working last night!. If you did a video of what you thought were the 10 most influential bands present and past!. that would be interesting. At first I thought your favourite top ten bands. Then I thought, it would be more interesting what you think are the most influential!. just an idea Stripe!. I'll look forward to your next play through. Enjoyed your Bob Marley Legend play through!.If you haven't already you should check out Pete Tosh some of his work is good shit mate!. respect Stripe!.
Fuck me... Those subtitles were hilarious! Thanks for the laughs, Stripey.
I see you got to listening to Revolver pretty quick. Can't say I blame ya. It's my favorite of theirs.
quickparkly I couldn't wait to play it mate it's my favourite too! Glad you enjoyed the subs
Hahaha! I pissed myself at the end when i heard the operator talking to you! Now I see your point! That was some funny shit! I saw that LP at "Barnes and nobles" and passed on it! Then I go back the next month it was gone! You make me wish I had picked it up!
Vinyl City I should have pick that one up mate it is Beatles gold
Can I ask what pressing this copy is? Your patch in sounds bloody lovely. I bought the 2009 remaster/ reissue on vinyl and it really doesn’t sound anything special. Apparently it might be cut from a CD, which is not what I wanted.
I think you get the the real feel of tomorrow never knows in stereo with head phones your mind really go's anywhere....
Love watching these videos Stripey! Really captures my own frustrations with them. Keep up the awesome videos
Thanks Bullwinkle
Stripey, Revolver was actually recorded before their final 1966 world-wide tour. It's amazing to think about it, but not one song from the l.p. was performed on said tour.
Quality album,say no more!
Good video mate let's hope you get your mug soon, I need to get revolver on vinyl. I loved the subtitles on the phone call hahaha
BurtyVlogs yeah you must get revolver on vinyl it is awesome glad you enjoyed the video
brilliant review greatest album ever made!!
thank you
Great review - like yourself it blows my mind just how much experimentation goes on in this album which plays through like lightning, I always look at the number of tracks on the vinyl thinking great got a bit of time , but your backside is just sat down to enjoy when your up again to flip it, it’s like Chinese meal no sooner than you’ve finished it you want seconds...... brilliant album
can’t recall which booklet it was that came with one of the LPs,but what was mentioned about Ringo’s drumming stuck with me, when you hark back to when they played live especially those USA venues the band couldn’t hear each other, yet Ringo was always keeping the band right / tight with his timing straight from start to finish of every song played ..... amazing
Nice one on the cup 14 days another big box on its way to you then, hope they seal it properly.
Like a Chinese meal..brilliant! Yes Walter, your right about them live gigs & Ringo holding them all together, It was something my wife showed me.

Thanks Dave but I think she said they are sending another, I think... cheers mate
The greatest album ever made
Haha sorry mate but damn I was spitting with laughter with the phone conversation. Good video btw with some great history which made me learn about some of the tracks. I should go through my Anthology DVD boxset sometime since I haven't watched it in a long time..
How can arseholes speak today. Lol
Cheers Mark, glad you liked the phone call ;) & yes I must watch Anthology again soon. cheers for watching
am so glad I didn't sign up for the subscription well done for keeping your cool
Jenny Smyth thanks Jenny
I have a UK Mono 3rd pressing, and the 180grm re-issue Stereo copy. Great Album, one of my favs.
I ordered some poly-lined anti-static sleeves, from Amazon, got them for a reasonable price, received them today, replaced all my original Beatles albums, inner sleeves with them, and some other albums, with lyric card/paper inners. Kept a few for the Beatles albums being released in this series, that have the inner card sleeves, so as not to scratch the albums
I might order some more, but i'm a bit hesitant, as i had to wait in all day for them, did'nt receive them, till nearly 17.00, and the packaging, was a bit of a joke, they came in a cardboard box, way to big for them, lined with a bit of paper They were well sealed up though, they could have packed these, in a large record mailer, to be honest.
I usually hate ordering off of Amazon, shame really,as there is some other stuff, i want to order. ttyl.
Revolver was not recorded when they were finished touring as they toured both before and after the Revolver recording sessions. At that point they were bored with touring. Interesting note re 'She Said She Said' is that Paul McCartney does not appear on this song as he left after a row with the others. George Harrison plays bass on it seemingly
Trevor Eivers Hypnosis my bad on The Beatles fact, cheers Trevor, interesting facts about Paul leaving during the she said she said session
Brother if you're gonna buy it on vinyl buy the mono version. Not only is it in mono ( the mix the beatles were actually involved in), but it's sourced from original master tapes too! All analog!
Is this a stereo remastered LP? What year was it done please. Thanks
Definitely my favourite Beatles album, Great review. I love your Union Jack turntable but it has some bad reviews for being poor quality, Ceramic cartridge and plastic turntable en al. Obviously you are happy with it, so would you recommend buying one?
It was a Christmas pressie from the wife last year, It looks great but to be honest I'm after getting myself a Rega Planar upgrade. cheers for watching!
I have the original 1965 Revolver still in the Chinese rice paper never been played I bought it in New Orleans when I saw the Beatles in Concert! whats the value?
Revolver was released August 1966 Douglas.
Actually the Beatles had what is now a rare album called "Yesterday & Today" showing the Beatles sitting on some rather large trunks that had *Rain*, *Paperback Writer*, *Dr Roberts*, *Drive My Car* and other songs, some of which were incorporated onto "Revolver" at a later date... or in England, but they weren't on the original USA Capitol LP.
In fact if you were going to remake Revover today
1. Paperback Writer
2. taxman
3. Elenor Rigby
4. Im only Sleeping
5. The Art of Dying
6. Love you to
7 .here there everywhere
8. Rain
9. Good Day
10 yellow sub
11. She Said
12. For No one
13. Want to tell you
14.Got to get you
15. And your Bird
16. Tomorrow Never
John Lennon sings on the chorus of Rigby sir. So it was him and Paul
Where dis you buy this Vinyl? Thank you.
While the timing of Seargent Pepper's was perfect Revolver was way ahead of it's time and not really commercial enough, especially for teenage girls who were Beatles fans.My favorite Beatles album.
Great review Stripey👍 Btw a couple of your last videos, about half way through you go out of sync? Your talking is ahead of the images, very strange??
That's odd , i'll check em later but i'm sure they upped fine! cheers again mate
Stripey Rambles Cheers for the reply, some techno person on here may have the answer👍
Sorry to correct you, its "LOVE YOU TO" not "LOVE TO YOU" I ser the YOU Tube Gestapo stopped you playing the (copyrighted) music
lucky you.
Me to
Who was your favorite Beatle when you first got into the Beatles and is it the same one now?
Ringo. He was so ugly (initial 13 year old impression) he was cute. I didn't really have a favorite until they broke up. Post-Beatles Paul and George. A tragedy that John was murdered, but I didn't and still don't care for John's post-Beatle work.
@@indy_go_blue6048 wow. I love John’s solo stuff.
But isn't that indeed a Beatles mug? The White Album? :)
So did your duplicate AHDN have the same faullty intro on the first track? Best Stereo pressing I've ever heard of Revolver is the 1977 EMI Electrola - Apple Pressing. Cat. # 1C 072-04 097. INCREDIBLE WIDE Stereo separation. It's a totally different sounding animal. Have you ever heard the recalled 1st UK Mono pressing of Revolver with the different Mono mix of Tomorrow Never Knows? Those first few thousand Mono pressings were issued in error, and that rare TNN Mono mix was never re-issued. If you go to jagamart dot com (AKA Beatles Bootleg Heaven) and click on Dr. Ebbetts Import Beatles Compact Discs, you can get a superb totally de-clicked needle drop of that rare Mono 1st press from them (look for Matrix XEX-606-1 in the item description.) Tip: Stay away from the Japan Ebbett''s CD's which they also offer. They are knockoffs sourced from downloads, and are notorious for dropouts. I had to learn more than once.
cheers for the heads up
Oh and Yes it was the same AHDN with the duff chord
Did you ever receive your Beatles mug?
not yet David
Let us know! I hope they do right by you.
Oh I will David :)
....George Martin deserved a credit on TNK.....a genius producer.....the fifth beatle undoubtedly...
indeed mate indeed
It's not "Love TO You". It's "Love You To".
Still think John has the best vocal of the four Beatles.
I absolutely agree with you. I don't see the problem, I think its a beautiful track. But my mother absolutely hates Yellow Submarine. But whenever I blare it out the record player, she IS singing along... Every time. So much so in fact, I took her phone when she went to bed and I changed her ringtone for when I call her. A few days later, in Tesco's, the vegetable isle. All of a sudden.... "And the band begins to play..... We all live in a yellow submarine..." My god, it was a look of shock and horror on her face. Haha. I am never changing that, she doesn't even know how. So that makes it even better.
Taxman would be better without Paul's guitar. These are the songs I like: eleanor rigby , I"M only Sleeping is great!, She said she said, And Your Bird Can Sing, Tomorrow Never Knows. These song just suck: Yellow Submarine (I just don't like Kids songs) , Good Day Sunshine (another kids song).
Revolver is to rock n roll what the bible is to religion
I have the 180g mono pressing, sounds great!
