Played it when it came out in 2006 and I was 11 years old on ps2. Instantly fell in love. I own it on many platforms now and completed it like 6 times so far. Would recommend to anyone. For hardcore fans I recommend buying the art book with alot of making off notes and learning more about how they came up with the game.
Same! My dad bought it for me because it had a wolf on it. My stepmother downloaded a bunch of flute music from the game to encourage me to practice for music class. Still love it!
As someone who has played every port, the switch version played in handheld with a stylus is THE best and most accessible way to play it. you can buy it digitally and it will immediately let you use the brush as soon as you touch the screen. you can do it without the stylus, but damn it feels right with it.
I played this game 6 years ago on my PS3 as my second ever game and I LOVE THE GAME SO MUCH, I just rediscovered it 2 days ago and I can't stop obsessing over it, I remember beating the game and just crying at the end, I remember that moment fondly
@@absoluteai41Yeah me too. I was stalling going to orochi because i thought this would be a pretty short game and did not wanted it to end yet. There is more game in my game? Hell yess. Also the music in this game is amazing.
I learned of this game on an old recommendation, and I mistaked it for another CAPCOM game. Years later, I remembered the game, and thought it had a very pretty art-style, so I looked into it. Honestly, this was one of the best games that I ever played, and I never like video games for their unfair or aggravating moments. It was so good, that I got the sequel, Okamiden, and 100% that as well, I legitimately felt surprised at some of the twists and the ending, it was a worthy sequel despite being on the DS. This game was fun to play, had an amazing arstyle, and the story... was really great and had an original message of not depending on your Gods or beliefs all the time and do thing yourself. (Which *REALLY* needed to be stated to a lot of people.) I also love the subtle theming with the ability to restore plant, and at the end with the final boss being mechanical. It's a lot more clever than most media bashing our heads over and over again with the same stupid *"nAtUrE gOoD mAcHiNe BaD!1111!11!1111!"* mantra over and over again. Also, I love how aged-up yet goofy it can be, it's not afraid to flip the finger to censorship, I think more games should have this than play it safe. I really wish it was remembered by CAPCOM or Nintendo, especially with its amazing reviews. Overall, Okami is an underrated 10/10. Looks better than most movies made today, would happily play again.
I received Ōkami as a gift from my dad after my parents’ divorce in ‘06. It was the first game I played at his apartment, and we had only one TV in the place. I loved the style, and he liked the music. He got it because it had a wolf on the cover, and I (still) like animals. I remember it being the one game I could only play at his house, because my mom thought it was too “ungodly” because it showed off a religion that wasn’t Christianity. Still love it to this day.
Literally been playing it for the first time, put about 4 hours in so far. I'm loving the hell out of Okami so far, I miss this era of gaming in general so I figured I boot up the ps2 and found this in my collection that I never played, now I can't put it down.
When i first played and i had beaten the eight headed "ganondorf", i thought i had beaten the game and had a good time...Only to find out I completed maybe only 1/3 of the game XD What i really like is that no "side quest" feels like that. Every quest is important in its own right and doesnt feel like a waste of time to do them. I cant count how many times i went back to an area just to feed animals
I got used to the dialogue pretty quickly. It helps that you can fast forward each line while in-game (although strangely not during cinematics even though they're mostly rendered in real-time).
Thank you for helping bring more recognition to one of my favorite games of all time. I pray to see the day where Okami gets a sequel/prequel because the game is so incredibly interesting and fun. Crossing my fingers we get to see celestial plain someday !!
finished it few days ago on Switch. I just remembered reading the gaming magazines in 2006, it won few game of the year awards. really a remarkable experience. I loved every second of gameplay...the art, the music, JRPG mood...respect man!
You have such a great taste!okami is a master piece anyone who said the opposite did not played it yet this game can be compared even to ocarina of time
On the brush mechanic: Okami actually DID come out during the Wii era, and it released on Wii while it was still relatively new as well! I played Okami on Wii exclusively, and I feel like it made it game feel way more immersive!! This has been my favorite game since it came out, and I think it always will be ☺️ If you didn’t play Okamiden, you should! There definitely WAS a sequel, and it was pretty fun!!
Got into this game called kunitsu gami path of the goddess and saw that it was linked to okami in cosmetic ways n im like damn now that i think of it I never played okami so i just bought the HD edition on the ps5...man im so mad that i missed this gem back in 06 n I used to see it in stores all the time!! Yeah, i beat it this year on Wii, its cool using pointer to drawl! but it is bad having to shake the wiimote to attack, i wish i could use buttons instead. It is a great game! It looks like Zelda but so different at the same time that it is a good experience for a Zelda fan like me

Issun is one of those characters who can easily be mistaken as someone who is self centred but in reality his story is that of someone who is a frustrated artist who is trying his best to be what his family wants him to be (Ishaku in this case) but never quite seems to satisfy them. In the end he winds up becoming a brilliant Celestial Envoy by following his own path. It's a tale as old as time of the artist breaking norms in order to reach the same goal. Curiously his age is unknown but mentally and, if the paintings of him are anything to go by, physically he comes across as someone in his early to mid 20s despite the fact that he views women in a similar fashion to that of a horny teenager.
Your overview captured many of the elements of this great game. I also wish there was more, a sequel or something else. I played this on the original Wii after searching for "most beautiful Wii games". It delivered on that. I loved the art, the unusual first-person storyline, and pretty much everything about it. I think the Wii control interface added a lot to the gameplay, not sure of the PS2 play because I haven't played it on that platform. But on the Wii, I think it was one of the best releases I've played in terms of really using the controllers well to perform gestures as part of the play. It was so rewarding every time you do the patterns correctly, seeing it on screen, and damaging the opponent, I think one of the best experiences in this type of game. If I were to mention another Wii game that utilized gestures very well, (realizing there are some shortcomings), Cursed Mountain. Found that one on a list of creepy Wii games. Okami is more all ages, but Cursed Mountain is more for "mature" audiences, lol. I would have been seeking it out as early as possible when I was younger.
I Never thought we would ever get a true attempt at a sequel to Okami with the some of the orginal people. 😂 so happy! I didn't play it till it came on the Wii. Back then I only had nintendo and sega systems.

Somehow I missed out on this game when it came out but I just got the HD version on sale to play on my steam deck for the first time after hearing about the second game, Im very excited.
It's a super great game. A classic. I played it 10 years ago. All games have limitations ofcause, but the magic drawing part is a new dimension to a game. It is filled with japanese mythology in a loosely connected way. I would like to have my PS2 connected to my PC because I don't have a TV anymore. Some old games never get too old. The mumbeling voice sounds I belive is how a wolf or dog would hear human speach.
I bought Okami a few years ago, only played like 2 hours, today started it again and gave it 4 hours and wow... I just told my brother that if this game came out today it would still be a top 3 GOTY, at least from what I've experienced so far.

And I'm sad that maybe no sequel will exist . That amazing art and world on a today's system would be amazing to see .
I also wasn't a fan of the mumble voices. If you play the remastered version you can turn the mumble voices off! Look in the settings. & the game is much longer then you think. I played 40 to 50 hours until I saw the credits.
@@IAMLICHT_YT I just started the game recently for the first time. I had a ps2 back in the day and heard this was a great game but never played it. Flash forward to now and I saw the HD PS4 version at the library and had to give it a try. I havent played a classic action adventure game in so long. I'm 9 hours in on my PS5 and absolutely loving it so far! Last night I just defeated the giant spider and rescued Ume the dog then helped the dog and the boy across the river by making a bridge. I love that its so cheery and you are being helpful to people. I never played the zelda games but if they are like this (mission based, adventure, helping folks) I understand why they are so highly viewed. The art and gameplay and characters just give me a smile. I was expecting something like 30 hours to beat your 40 to 50 is quite a lot!! I'm going to have to return and rerent a few times. I agree voice acting, especially for the HD remake would have made it perfect but thats also very expensive vs the mumbling. Thanks for your video.
They gotta find some way to port this to 60FPS, it would greatly improve an already great game, you should also play with the paper filter turned on, it is intended.
Thank you for the video , its almost a shame Capcom has so many good IPs xD Between RE and Monster Hunter and DMC and Bayonetta and Dragons Dogma and Okami and Asura's Wrath and Dino Crisis and Onimusha. That's like half their IPs and they're all absolute bangers. I personally would love an Asura's Wrath and Okami sequel or remake first and foremost, i dont mind waiting 10 years for the next resident evil.
I’m interested in playing this game before the sequel comes! Should I play it on my ps5 or my switch? The ps5 looks to be higher def for me but some have told me the switch having more fluid ways to utilize the brush makes things more satisfying
switch bro, you can use the touchscreen and the joycons to use the celestial brush, the main mechanic of the game. Also dont worry about the graphics, it looks the same and it runs on 30 fps in all versions. I have played it on every console and switch its my favourite.
Use the back of the spider to connect it to the floating side flowers. Just keep circling around the Spider to dodge her attacks. I hope this helps somewhat xd
Yes you have A point. But to me it's only A small annoyance for the amazing magical game that it is. I have A bigger gripe with some of the mumble voices.
Okami is a long overlooked masterpiece. Soulless and generic so called AAA titles sell millions though because most gamers are idiots who buy into hype.
In my opinion. As someone who loved the original god of war games i find the modern god of war titles to be horrible both in story and gameplay. I prefer the dark tortured kratos to the proud father. Based on his past he never earned his redemption. Yet the game tries to force it by saying "but hes a struggling single parent!". It all seems like an attempt to make god of war more politically correct... which in my opinion completely misses the point.
I don't even care about the story of God of War, but I would be lying if I said the redemption of Kratos didn't irk me a bit. It feels incredibly undeserved. Doesn't help that I really don't like what they did with the gameplay itself, so I've got zero reason to bother with Ragnarok.
Lady's & Gentlemen, we won!!!!!🎉🎉

Lucky enough to have played it on the PS2 and on a CRT TV.
I have as well and as much as I like the crt for old games, in this case I think the HD version looks and plays better IMO.
I just purchased this video game on Steam and I am planning on live streaming it in a few weeks
I personally would love an Asura's Wrath and Okami sequel or remake first and foremost, i dont mind waiting 10 years for the next resident evil.
this game is over perfection
My best friend got me this game and i still have the same copy 18 uears later
Okami is a beautiful game
Everything About this game SLAPS
I’m interested in playing this game before the sequel comes! Should I play it on my ps5 or my switch?
The ps5 looks to be higher def for me but some have told me the switch having more fluid ways to utilize the brush makes things more satisfying
switch bro, you can use the touchscreen and the joycons to use the celestial brush, the main mechanic of the game. Also dont worry about the graphics, it looks the same and it runs on 30 fps in all versions. I have played it on every console and switch its my favourite.
@ noted! Thanks!
I also recommend switch, have fun!
What is the best version to play
I played the ps4 version. Maybe search up some gameplay of the Switch, Xbox or PC if you wanna try those. Any of the remastered versions are great.
I played it and completed it
Clover studio made this game, Viewtiful joe 1 & 2 and God Hand ... so sad that they disappeared
They are Platinum games now from what I know.
Capcom’s attempt at a Legend of Zelda is truly a memorable one
I discovered this game in 2017. I'm playing right now but I'm such a noob that I can't beat the spider queen.
Use the back of the spider to connect it to the floating side flowers. Just keep circling around the Spider to dodge her attacks. I hope this helps somewhat xd
@@IAMLICHT_YT yes thank you! XD
i love this game
I love okami so much
Masterpiece Forever❤
There is a sequel on the ds called Okamiden it wasn’t as good as the first but it scratched the itch
the only thing that doesn't make me sing Okami praises is Orochi...three....times.... LIKE WHAT THE HELL
Yes you have A point. But to me it's only A small annoyance for the amazing magical game that it is. I have A bigger gripe with some of the mumble voices.
still don't get it why was i so scared of the dark red thing that's sucking up the nature, maybe it's the artstyle that really immersed me
1:48 THIS PART OHHHHHHH THE RED THINGSSS BLOCKING MY WAY
you should Try playing sakuna of rice and ruin. it;s about a farming simulator with 2d side scrolling game
Legend Classic for me
One of the best games of times
The only thing in this game that I don't like is the Blockhead puzzles. They're insanely frustrating.
These controls belong on the DS
Enjoy the spike in views
Okami is a long overlooked masterpiece. Soulless and generic so called AAA titles sell millions though because most gamers are idiots who buy into hype.
This game is epic and i dont get why noone plays it😓😫😠
In my opinion.
DUTCH?! 💜
Ja 😅
Hahaha het is altijd te horen voor Nederlanders.
Talk about that one time that okami started the war in Iraq ❤️
