Liked all of the pieces and the wide variety of them. At first the music was too melodramatic but as it grew more and more scherzo like it seemed more and more appropriate, or perhaps a better complement to the underlying surrealism.

Some of Giacometti's work is superb by any standards - but he became a one trick pony with his stick men, decapitated heads and smudged paintings all of which leave you wishing he had occasionally tried something different.

Well actually he did, before the “stick men” he was making only surrealist work, that was not always figurative... he worked his way towards the stick men. Probably had he lived another 15 years, maybe he would have made another leap!
