Props to the entire band. But I’m gonna jump on the Phil train and compliment how good he sounds. Don’t forget he’s been screaming for 35 years and chain smoking camels. Unreal how good he sounds at 54.
Yea I’ve been watching his live shows he’s done with The Illegals and for a while he was having real issues belting out a lot of the Pantera stuff. I agree I don’t know what he did but whatever it was it’s working he sounds great.
I seriously hope they do a headlining tour as I do not want to pay to see Metallica two nights in a row just to see a 50 minute Pantera set from a 1/2 mile away.
@@skilled_landon2178 Yes he does. I saw them twice on that final tour. He was not at his best. This is worlds better, maybe a little “tame”, but better.

This is definitely not Zakk's normal tone. His chorus is super toned down, if not off, and he's got some kind of a noise gate going, which is not what he normally uses. Not Dime's tone, but definitely closer to it than what Zakk usually has.
What a weak crowd, they would have never survived the floor during a Pantera show back in the days. And Zak… just play the damnnnn solos/whammy dives guy. Should have had Atilla on stage.
Hey Zakk..eh hum…you played the solo wrong man. I'm gonna cut ya some slack 'cause it's the first gig, but a year from now when you roll through Chicago…I would like that shit perfect please. Thanks!
I totally agree. Dime's solos were masterpieces on the same level as a piece of Mozarts symphonies. Zakks squeelies sound like shit compared to Dime's original . His improv is nothing short of a detraction!!!!!
Yo I’m from Chicago too and at first I was skeptical abt this whole Pantera reunion thing. After seeing this show tho I totally think it’s good enough to see live.
I've been saying this since I heard about this reunion. Zakk is great, and I was willing to give this a chance ... but yeah, this should 100% be Atilla's gig. I haven't seen anyone else even come close to capturing the style and sound of Dime's playing. For those who don't know.... search for "Vulgar Display of Cover" and prepare to have your minds blown.
Idk who Atilla is honestly. Zakk at least has a deep connection with dime having been great friends. That's definitely one reason why zakk makes sense to do this. I see people hit dime note for note online but there's no history or chemistry with the band. Also this is their first live gig.
