I feel abit better about going through high school in the 90's and listening to this great stuff. The drugs don't work was an eye opener and a lesson to the kids of the time. My mum bought me this album for my 13th birthday and I still have it.
I don't know i was born in 1979 and was raging heroin addict by mid 1995. I tried it once it changed my life. At first the drugs were working for me. Everything was great but then they turn against you and everything turns to shit. I bit like a new love affair, it's amazing at first then soon can change to madness. I spent 29 years basically full-time heroin and cocaine user. The drugs don't work they make everything worse. I was 15 years old when I stumbled into it. Older cousin and his friends were doing it. Many freinds I've lost. Yet my Cousin got clean and is a pe teacher now. Has been since 2003, 😂 if I don't laugh I'd cry lol
I was at haigh hall seen the verve saw Richard in Glasgow 5/10 maybe needing to bite the bullet with mcabe jones rather than ham the old stuff out solo handed .
@markwheelwright7888 yeah.. needs to do more for our hard earnt money. I'll be giving it a miss next time outta principle. More obscure solo stuff is needed that's never on any setlist the last decade
@@markwheelwright7888 I was at this gig - and I saw The Verve a few times live too, including at Haigh Hall in 1998 - and believe me, it was anything but underwhelming.
I've seen him live many times. His voice sounds hoarse here, maybe battling a virus. You're not wrong but he's usually a powerhouse live. Also, RA put Wigan on the map. Half the world hadn't even heard of it before The Verve. They should build a statue of him there
I was there for the Verve home coming gig in 1998, it was magical,

Thanks for posting! ❤I had tickets but came down ill with covid and couldn't go 😢
Top boy
Who said he can't sing? The guy is a bit older and time may have taken it's toll on his voice slightly but he is still a class act!
Great night on saturday

13 songs in total on the setlist? Wow.
There was 10 at kew gardens gig !!!
@@baggy79 Great songwriter but his gigs are underwhelming - so few songs is a piss-take and always the same 7 or 8 songs from Urban Hymns....zzzzzz.

I'm a wiganer. This is embarrassing. Nowt against the man but he cannot sing for toffee. I'm hoping this hasn't put off artiste to come to wigan.xx
Well, never heard anyone say he can’t sing before. His voice is always brilliant live
There’s not a big queue of people trying to play Wigan fella so you’ve got nothing to worry about
Lobbygobbler of course
RA much better with the Verve than as a solo artist...
