  • The Cleveland Cavaliers will have a few areas of need to address this off-season. This team needs a big wing in the worst way, preferably of the 3 And D archetype. And while they aren’t in lottery territory, they should still be able to walk away from the draft with a potential difference maker even though they are selecting 20th overall. With that being the case, one of the prospects that could possibly be available in that spot is none of than California Forward Jaylon Tyson

      They would have lost him in the Mitchell trade anyway. Doubt that the Jazz would have taken one less first with Williams being only a prospect.

    He is a more offensive Okoro...If Atkinson can develop his defensive game he could become a valuable player off the bench and gives Cavs some size as a ball-handler. Okoro as a free-agent is highly expendable more so than Levert.

    I think it was a very good choice. He appears to do a lot of things. A little small, but looks like he can shoot. Really if he can hit the corner three consistently, make sensible passes, attack close outs, and play reasonable team defense, he can be the answer they are looking for. They still will need a bigger wing to pair with him, though.

    Turnovers aside, he looks really polished when moving with the ball. Glad the cavs got him, he looks like a solid pick. But why are the "experts" saying this was a bad pick?

  • @bvalenz
    @bvalenz 2 месяца назад +1

    Rarely #20 picks become superstars, but they can be solid role players. As a Lakers & Cal fan, wanted LA to draft him @ 17. Last time they passed on a Jaylen from Cal in the draft, he became finals MVP.
    Good prediction here!

      I think he would be a solid addition either way but most definitely would be a great addition to the starting unit or in a high minute role off the bench if Garland is moved.

      If the Cavs move on from Garland, I'd expect it to be for a starting caliber wing.

    When will the Cavs get a much needed intimidator/enforcer forward who is a rebounding monster with attitude, and will protect/defend his teammates (Garland and Mitchell for example)?
    Think of Ben Wallace, Moses Malone, Tree Rollins, or Charles Oakley.
    You need such a player to go deep in the playoffs, and the Cavs historically suffer from being bullied.

    If Cleveland can develop Emoni Bates As a 3 & D Wing it would interesting to pair him with Tyson and Donovan Mitchell with Garland coming off the bench as a smaller change of pace type of player who can provide some balance & scoring off the bench…!

    Still not seeing the Holmes love. He has one good season of threes with a shot that just takes forever to get off. His footwork just seems clumsy in the post. I don’t know the answer but did he work out for the Cavs. I read somewhere he shut it down for a first round promise from another team. If so, can’t blame the Cavs for not drafting him.

    There is no chance DG and Mitchell are both on this roster. So that being said I think they need a veteran next to who is still there. I can see Tyson late first if Cleveland can trade back, but 3 schools in 3 years is a big reg flag at 20. Rather see Trevon Brazile, who fits a big roster hole as the Jalen Johnson "freak list athlete" on the Cavs. A couple back ups. Names like Kolek and Knecht will get more attention and have a higher chance of being in Cleveland at 20 though.
