With today’s topic another good person to interview would be Dr. Andrew Weil, like Michael Pollan he too is a mushroom man and all around health conscious.

I love your podcast! And this episode is so fantastic - it's such a great topic and I love Christiana's change of 5% :-) Thank you so much for enrichening my life every week :-)
An incredible topic today. I’ve gone through the stages of seeing mushrooms as drugs to experiencing them as the best psychologist who helps you to connect with yourself and show you the best directions..
I wish that Trevor would talk less so that his guest could talk more. I feel that Pollan had many more interesting things he could have said that I didn't hear.
I'm so grateful for Christiana's unabashed approach on this because I agree that psychadelics are a shortcut to spirituality. I have used mushrooms and have had an incredible experience and another horrible experience. I think the benefits of psychadelics can be attained more permanently and more meaningfully through spiritual practices. I think it is much more powerful to have our own consciousness come to a new perspective versus taking something that mimics that. The argument about using psychadelics as a medical treatment makes sense to me, especially for groups like veterans, but to the average person, I think it isn't necessary to achieve the benefits that psychadelics promise.
Great conversation about the importance evolution of medicine and deep journey work. Trevor's comments about set/setting/ right guide/right intention is exactly the compelling why Listen again 33:20

I loved Michael Pollan's article on experimenting with growing opium poppies. I bought bread seed poppy seeds and grew them after seeing them growing in a client's garden. They are beautiful, but the client freaked out about them being opium poppies so pulled them out. We live in a rural area, so no one will identify them. I will continue to grow them for their beauty!
Christina? Thats endlessly facinating to me. Cause, yes. I remember that the Nigerians once had chiefs or kings, but. I remember the kings of MY ancestors being really shitty to yours 😅 So like. I get what youre saying. Im the great grand daughter of British settlers. But. Idk man. Even I wonder if the British Crown is the order I want around. Lol. I liked "order," but. That kinda order? Idk. 😅
I hear Christina. For those stuck in thinking, I agree it is a short cut spiritually to open, connected feeling. I think we need to see if there are physical or spiritual side effects to using short cuts in this way, versus meditation or such. It would be curious to evaluate because it does give people a brief experience. Either way, short or long, I hope it would be followed up by significant positive change and daily movement for the person.
Perhaps certain people in politics could benefit from doing one of these methods spiritual or psychedelics to move from cemented thinking to unifying thinking.
In response to Christiana, my experience has been that psychedelics will take you to the pain and show you a more accurate perspective of what happened allowing you to enter into that pain and healing. There is no running from anything on psychedelics.
I mean. Im white. I think Id be one of the people Christina would call out. But. I do absolutely see where shes coming from in this. I thought I would just be on Trevor's side, after the John Oliver piece on this topic. But. Christina has points I can understand a bit. Even if I would like this to be expanded and open to more people. I get what her concerns are.
Like. When she brought up "could it break down racist assumptions," thats an AWESOME question. But the "paper over," / band aid solution, too. Is a thing I think about. I think about it with talk therapy, too. Like. Yeah, therapy is good. But. If you can't afford to cover rent, or eat. Food. And shelter. And money to afford that. Would help. Probably even more than Shrooms. So. As much as I think this could be helpful, and stuff. Stuff like that, and the "psychotic break," stuff? Is worth taking seriously. I think, anyway
But also. As someone who is "stuck." And feels I can't get "unstuck." This sounds potentially life fixing. Lol. But. Always gotta take that with a grain of salt, too 😂
Christiana comes at this with the most selfish attitude I've ever seen... Not a single thought about how it can benefit anyone, just me me me all the way.
Positively Lovely, i especially like the perspective about hallucinogenic experiences and the naturally expansive characteristics of the youthful mind. Refreshing🏺🍇🕊
I enjoyed this episode immensely and think it’s a super important topic. My mother tried mushrooms in her twenties and she said it made her realize the immense trauma and pain she had buried and put her on a path to resolve that trauma- which led to meeting my dad and my existence! Whatever existential experience you have you don’t lose, you take it with you in life and it is life changing. I always suggest for those who can’t afford a guided experience to find a few close friends, in a super safe environment, with nothing to do for the whole day/ night… I have communed w my father (who passed) on this - and the lessons are forever and no it’s not something you wish to do again immediately but it’s something I would probably do again under the right circumstances. We yearn for something greater as a species because there is something greater that exists that we can almost touch. Psychedelics help you touch it, and the lessons are forever. ❤️❤️🙏🙏 ps: Michael’s hat looks like a tip of a penis, once you see you can’t unsee it 🤣🤣.

Never got disappointed by Trevor noah ❤️🩹❤️🔥❣️❤️💯
I did get disappointed about some stuff, but I still watch him now and then. I love his way of thinking most of the time.

I watched Trevor’s interview with his Grandmother. I learned so much about living under Apartheid!
Me too, though I knew people who lived under apartheid and moved to Brussels, Belgium and stuff, so I remember about it, and I was born in 81.
My husband and a friend of ours took mushrooms several years ago. They started seeing UFO’s. It was hilarious!😂 😊
Uh oh.

Exactly
Who is the woman?
This was an informative, enlightening and fun conversation.
True, because I was a bit brainwashed back in the 1990s-early 2000s, I used to think that drugs were bad, because I was indoctrinated by governments.
Wah! This is one epic conversation and I totally agree with your conspiracy theory, Trevor. Have wondered myself.
Fascinating topic. Christiana's openness was awesome, particularly the self-awareness about where her concerns stem from.

Hello from a mexican living in Egypt! Great podcast!
Please add the podcast also to RUclips Music. RUclips is nice but would rather listen to the episodes via a dedicated audio app.
it's already on Spotify/Apple Podcasts 🤷♂ there's a tremendous backlog and unlike RUclips music, those two other platforms are available Worldwide.
@kaltimoktober It is. But some countries can't afford Spotify, which gives them a min long ads for every 20 sec, despite stating 30 mins free ads

Some Nigerians still have chiefs, prince,s etc. In David Oyelowo's family his father or someon in his family was a prince.
Only u can make me laugh 😂😂😂😂
