Agree with you. Many will say it's Sean Paul Brown skin that makes him able to do well commercially and yes maybe, but it's more to do with the genius dancehall formula he has. When pitching to the masses outside of Jamaica, they want catchy tunes, good collabs etc and Sean Paul does that so well. My husband and I have travelled to a lot of countries and each one, if we go out to a club you're guaranteed a Sean Paul is played. Sean Paul makes music that appeals to everyone, lyrics you can actually hear and as you said a good dancehall beat. He cleverly does good collabs of which garners him more fans from a fan base that probably would not have had any of his music in their playlists. As someone that grew up on old school dancehall, for me, so call dancehall being made now is like fast fashion, it's trending this week and thrown out the next also many of them do not make music that is radio friendly, and half the the time I cannot hear a rass ting theyre saying. These artist it's Quantity 'likes' over quality and longevity, hence why 20yrs from now a lot of these artistes now their songs probably won't NOT be played.
I agree that we need some clean music in Dancehall. Being somewhat family friendly is key to going international. Just look at Gyptian 'Hold You' - family friendly can be played almost anywhere
I was at a JAZZ festival last year , Jill Scott and Erykah Badu were headliners, Sean Paul was the ONLY Jamaican artiste on the lineup, the audience were mostly black americans ages 45 and up, The boss had the place in a frenzy, he killed it. They wanted more.

I like Sean Paul as an artist because he does make very good Dancehall Reggae music, but he's not really my number one Artist in Dancehall Reggae. Limelight, Most Wanted, Reverse Time... it's like J Cole doing his albums with no features. Took forever to out out the best collaboration Fight for Us with Fave that would have connected him with the Afro sound that runs the world right now, then he wasted that video. Pushing Wow with Spice as a single would have controlled parties for months, and putting out the collab with Lila who is heating up would have helped too. Masicka's done a great job getting signed and getting to a top dancehall position but he'll be no Sean Paul if he only feeds the fans already attuned to his lyricism.
