Had no idea that Lorna sounded so much like her mother, EXACTLY, like her mother. They both do. What a pair. So sorry that so much time has passed before I realized this fact.
Beautiful. Liza is a lot like her Mother in so many ways. Lorna may not have the looks or voice of her Mother but she has the heart. So very proud to be Judy Garland’s daughters.
You’re right that Lorna doesn’t look like her mom, but Lorna definitely sounds like Judy, as does Liza. They just have different ranges of Judy’s voice.
FYI...This video was posted on Instagram & Facebook by the "Concern Foundation for Cancer Research" on Oct 20, 2023. It was filmed in Beverly Hills, CA at the May 25, 1975 "Block Party", which was an annual benefit to help raise funds for their foundation. According to a Los Angeles Times article from 05/28/1975, Andy Williams was the host (3rd year in a row)...and besides Liza and Lorna, Lily Tomlin & country singer Roger Miller were the other entertainers who performed that day. I wonder if more footage exists from this event. It would be great to see the whole thing. 😀
I have yet to hear any version of this famous duet with it's wonderful subtlety, depth, cohesiveness and power. Garland's and Streisand's younger voice blended together and make this duet seamless, both shining in their own way. It always sounds like a disjointed kind of competition! But, thanks for the video.
Really great, apart from the end when Liza does a higher note than she should, so Lorna has to do an even higher harmony and can't get it. Liza tried the same high note with Judy at the London Palladuim. They should have just done what Judy & Barbra did on Judy's tv show, perfect.
I know many people don’t like to hear this, but Liza and Lorna SING-while their mother was a SINGER. There’s a monumental difference between the two titles. Many people sing, but not all are singers. That said, this video does not feature these two ladies at their best; Judy Garland’s part (the duet was written for JG to sing with Barbra Streisand) was too low in Liza’s register, while Barbra Streisand’s part was too high for Lorna, who screeched her way into annoyance with her bouncy new hairdo. lol While the duet, created by Mel Torme, was written to feature Ms Streisand’s voice, if you watch the original performance from The Judy Garland Show, you will see how JG manages to shine through in a BIG way, even though her part was merely a supportive role in the duet.
Listening to their voices here, it seems that Liza inherited a lot of the endearingly vulnerable quality of her mother's voice, whereas Lorna's is more hard-edged without featuring some other endearment that might have garnered her more success, such as the hard-edged but cosmic quality of the voice of Jefferson Airplane/Starship's Grace Slick. I think Lorna lacked a distinguishment, but I'm sure she's no less a wonderful person.
@uckbee interesting observation comparing Lorna's voice to San Francisco Rock legend Grace Slicks amazing contralto. Liza and her sister were very different and basically of different generations. Liza was instinctively more like her mother in her vocalizations and material. Lorna was more eclectic and early in her career experimented in the present genres. I don't see though what her singing ability would have to do with her personality. Both sisters are warm extroverted and very compassionate women.
What a talented family 💕

My god...what a rare moment. Did I really just see this? I'm 58, a lifelong fan...and I just saw this for the first time ever. Wow...
Same, 51 here.
Lorna and Liza are the divine expression of Judy
Liza and Lorna doing their mother proud.
Absolutely beautiful ❤️

Lorna is beautiful and has a sensational voice

They are like two halves of Judy Garland's voice.

Lorna sounds sooo much like Judy! Love them both❤
This happened?! Wow. Where has it been hiding...?
I wish we got more released footage of Liza performing😭 she’s one of the best performers
I like that you can see Liza and Jack Haley Jr. in the wings waiting for her to go on.
my grand mother helped raise liza and lornas cousins dorothy and gloria in saint paul minnesota.
And?
Wow! Marvelous, simply marvelous! Thanks Lucas!
Wow, never seen this before and I thought I’d seen most of Liza’s stuff ❤
Lorna was absolutely stunning
That was spectacular!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!

Lorna was such a smoke show!! Judy apparently always said that she was the best singer in the family… I feel she’s so underrated
❤ Lorna's speaking voice sounds like Liza's. Very moving footage.
Monstros da arte de cantar.divinas filha de Judy.❤
Genetics are amazing…!!!! 😉

Good job ripping it apart; you couldn't just enjoy it, but had to show off your supposed knowledge?
Judy is smiling ear to ear 🥰
Lorna sounds like with Judy would hit higher notes. She didn’t do it often, but she does.

They had nothing to do with each other; that's me being awkward again! @@bluzmansb5683
You're very right; that was me being awkward again.. :^ )@@bluzmansb5683
@@uckbee you made some good points!
Liza is close to Judy but Lorna is very far from Barbra.
Does it make me a bad person that I hoped Lorna's wig would fall off?
🎉❤😅😅😊😊 utube JOHN BAVAS CABARET
Painful to listen to. They're like trying to out scream each other.
Neither got the lyrics right….and, Lorna…good grief…but you can’t say she doesn’t try her best!
Lorna is trying to hard here.
lol liza butchered the lyrics
