Our catholic school of the 70's had THE BEST food. They'd post the weeks menu in the class. Something different and tasty each day with seconds allowed, if you asked with a big grin!

This made me smile. I graduated in 1987. For lunch I almost always had a cheeseburger, fries, and a skim milk. The lunch lady at the burger window (we had a line for regular lunch and then if you just wanted a burger, there was a burger window), made sure that there was always a skim milk set aside for me. Probably the best memory of my whole high school career, actually ;)

Literally, my grandma was the same age as Brianna’s grandpa she was born in 1931. She’s 92 now she just turned it less than a month ago.❤🎉❤🎉

Pizza or Sloppy Joes were always the best school lunches in the 70's....and the pudding. The other days we brought our own lunches or ate at the snack bar if we had one.
My senior year our snack bar had hamburgers, bbq sandwiches, sloppy joes, nachos and frues as well as sweet snacks.
Cheeseburger: thousand island or keychup & mayo, pickles, lettuce and tomato.
In the 60's I mostly remember taking my lunch to school.

I was born in 69, by the time I started school we had lunches that were like dinner. We had baked spaghetti, salad, fruit and of course milk and a dessert, we had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, we had tacos with corn and a dessert and much more.

One thing to note is how much school lunches can vary in variety and quality. I was born in the early 2000s. In first grade my family lived in a rich area thanks to my dad’s job. School lunch was a buffet. They always had at least 2 things they served regularly (I think hamburgers and something else). Along with the days specials. You could just go and choose what you wanted. For second grade my family moved to a lower income area. Lunch always only had 2 options, and you had to choose what you wanted in the morning. I remember a couple items were frequently burnt. The chicken fingers were so chewy as to almost be inedible. If wasn’t too bad, and is probably closer to what most people had (I have heard some schools only had 1 lunch option), and I got used to it pretty quickly, but it was quite the disparity between the two.
I went to elementary in the 2000's for me, that's not quite accurate. For what I remember school lunches didn't look like that. Like- at all. The most common lunch to find was french bread pizzas aka pizza boats, or mac and cheese.

my school had a salad bar and potato bar. along side a grill where they made fresh burgers and fries. They also had the typical school lunch meal.

When I used to eat hot lunches, the pizza tasted like cardboard, the chicken sandwiches always gave you stomach aches, and the beans made me throw up.

My mom says the 80s lunch was accurate. She didn’t remember much of the 70s lunch. But she was born in 72, so it makes sense.

My daughters week menu is pizza, spaghetti. Sloppy joes, taco salad, and then fri is half day so no lunch. They get milk, flavoured water, cheese string, veggie bags,fruit cups, granola bars, yogurt, and turkey sandwiches as options.
