Love that I get too start my morning with this kind of conversation. You guys have me pausing my war paint ( makeup for work) too just listen to this man’s stories. Gotta take them in while these older cowboys are still around to teach us. God bless y’all, get some and stay safe. Love love from Idaho.
Glad to hear Charlie Thompson mentioned in this interview. Charlie thought the world of Jim and never missed an opportunity to talk about what a great bull rider he is. The winter series at the pavilion was tons of fun.
You should get Charlie Thompson on the podcast. He really thought a lot about your dad. And he is a walking encyclopedia of rodeo knowledge. He would be a great interview.
Man oh man! So enjoyed this interview! Who knows who, etc, but all comes back to center. I helped charter the SAU rodeo team back in 1980. I was a calf roper (tie down now a days) and met Lane Frost in, of all places, DeQueen, AR during an amateur spring rodeo. He was maybe a 10th grader and was nursing a broken leg. anyway, this gen resonates with me. Thanks for making sure they’re remembered.
Jim was who I tried to emulate when I was riding. Unfortunately the only thing that I could copy was his TRY. The biggest thing I admire about Jim is his humility! Love hearing the old stories.
I got to meet Jim Sharp at the Brent Thurman Memorial Bull Riding in Georgetown, Texas. He had come up In the stands after riding and sat there and talked to my late wife and me for almost an hour. I also met Luke Snyder that same night, and got The Razors autograph, Luke’s autograph, Cody Whitney, and Cory Melford, and several others, and I still have the notebook that I was using as an autograph book that night. There was several of the Brazilian bull riders there also.
I remember him riding one of neal gay's bulls in coleman, Tx in 1986, Saturday night, hot as hell and he won the event. Trying my best to remember but 7 or 8 of the top bull riders in the world went out that night. My brother-in-law at the time was the last guy out and was stuck with Mac The Knife, the old fighting bull Neal had back then. I will never ever forget that.
I love ❤️ Wichita Falls! I lived there for 3 years and still go back every now and again! I'd like to eat at Mcbrides it's ALL Cowboy and GREAT STEAKS!
I got a chance to watch Jim ride in St Lucie Florida and it was probably one of his last rodeo’s. He rode 3 bulls and got 3 reride’s he got pretty upset with the contractor and he was right. He should’ve gotten a good bull after the first reride. He mentioned DR and he lives in the next town over. I got an autograph on his photo in the PRCA magazine with all the Olympic guy’s including DR and Lane and Marvin Garrett. He is a great guy and Jim is as tough as they come. Yeah boy Cowboy 💪🏽
One of the best rides I have ever seen was Razor at Fort Worth Stockshow. He flat out it on one pretty sure he was 92-93 on him big black and white Sammy Andrew’s bull.
" The Razor Man " Spending some time with Jim Sharp is a good day. Dale, i cannot believe you did not resesrch or someone did not remind you of one of the trips Jim had on Bodacious. Im sure Jim still gets dizzy when he thinks about it. Donnie Gay is my Rodeo hero for sure. Chris Shivers reminded me of him. Size of them both probably why. We got no T.V. coverage in the 70' s and 80's. We read the Pro Rodeo Sports news. Hung around pens and auctions. When Rodeos were in town. You would go to saddle shops, western stores and farm supply houses to meet and get autographs from Rodeo hands who would he there . Our generation GenX is the last of the old ways. The game is for sure different. They do not get any better than Jim Sharp for sure. God Bless ya. See ya down the road Ol Son!
@@DaleBrisbyBullRider I remember when it happened to Jim. It was played and talked about everywhere. I would like to hear what he has to say about that trip today. I'm assuming you looked it up and wished you had talked about it??? Hahaha
Read it again, I said if it is a "SARCASTIC" manner like Dale says........ Dale liked your comment so it was meant sarcastically. Have a good day. 👍🏻 Some people put comments on Dale's page such as "Lane Frost still would've still rode Bodaciois., he was always better than Tuff. Tuff refusing to ride Bodaciois just six weeks after Bo almost killed him Lane would've talked him out of it." We're not the gullible kind who really knows how Rodeo works. Comments like that are from people who truly don't know Rodeo. I read your comment the first time and thought "There's one of "those comments " Just a misunderstanding.. Excuse me please. Thank you
“He must not be that good I never heard of em” I might actually live by that quote from now Dale😂
The Razor!!! One of the greatest of all time and a living legend. Great podcast.
I've been waitin for ol' Razor to be on a podcast. This is one of my favorites.

Great podcast. Jim without knowing it just told a lot of people how to be a winner in life.
Yes he did. The best coaching you will ever get comes when you least expect it.
Great interview! I’ve never seen a video with Jim Sharp this in depth. Really interesting and fun to watch.
Sundays at Dos Amigos in Odessa was a hell of a time. I actually got Jim's autograph there. Super nice guy.

Great interview with two of the greatest bull riders loved it.
Wow, Ted Nuece was a great BULL RIDER! Didn't even know he was still around! Ted is a blast from the past!
That group was great to be around back in the day. During Denver, Greeley, cheyenne they always have fun but we're respectful.

Had a many a good time at Jim's place in Stephenville in the early 90's.
Charlie Thompson....CWT rodeo company. Remember he had stock at the rodeo in Ladonia, TX back in the '70's
I hope people can put into perspective how rank that is to cover 197 out of 213 bulls.
The world needs more cowboys
