Will, what can I say? You are my one stop shop for ALL things solar. I've been a subscriber for a long while and your videos, never disappoint. You're always to the point, tell us the stuff we really need to know AND understand. I have a need to fully understand things and you present things in a way that is fully understandable. Your website is packed with info that is 100% relevant and unbelievably helpful. From technical know-how to pricing, you cover it all! I wish you all the best and am so glad for the success you're enjoying, it is well deserved. I am in New Zealand and planning to go rural and off the grid, in the not too distant future. You are providing me, with everything I need, in terms of solar, to make this possible. Many thanks buddy, I truly appreciate it, as I am sure all your followers do! keep up the great work.

Built this system at our of grid cabin and it is working wonderfully. Built a 24v 150ah battery from individual cells. Made a rookie mistake though....hooked to (4) 320W panels in series and didn't take into account the open circuit voltage, so it was over 150 volts a bit. Unhooked one panel until my Y branch connectors arrive and I can hook up in series and parallel. No harm done though. Thanks for all your videos man!

Hi all! I´m trying to build a "solar farm" I grow indoor whit led systems but the energy consumption increased a bit, I have a full house whit 7 divisions but i only use kitchen whit one indoor tent whit 2000w and the living room whit 2 screens and a desktop computer. When i used my irradiator before building the tent I was spending around 160 dollars per month only whit fridge, computer Heather and 3 lamps occasionally used, bathroom, bedroom and small lamp near computer. Now whit the tent the electric gear are bit more vast, fans, extractor, led lamps, weather control stuff, ac, fans. That´s why I found this channel I was thinking in have beside totally organic grows free energy! This system seams to be the best super cool solution!! Bless you! Brilliant!!. A system like this can be adapted to tent cultures and small gardens wonderful!. I would love to try this setup in a growing lab using only leds up to 4000w but the idea its save energy for those raining days to avoid a crop fiasco!. Super cool video!! Thank you for sharing!

I built this exact set up for a 500 s.f cabin and garage in NW Wisconsin. I have 1600W of panels and 2 BB batteries. I also added a charger and automatic transfer switch. Crazy power at the cabin. Fridge, vacuum, TV, Kurig, etc. On nice summer days, I charge our golf cart and have even charged our Tesla Model 3 when the sun is high. It is a beast. My board looks identical other than like I said I have added an automatic transfer switch and a 4 bank charger (I went with a 4 bank for future if I add 2 more BB batteries). It's amazing and I have never had a wire even get warm. The inverter fan rarley comes on. Maybe a few seconds when fridge kicks in or when Kurig reaches peak. So it's nice and quiet. The ll in one units form what i understand the fans run constant.

We need to get you addicted to Anderson Power Poles. Love them. I use them for everything in my emergency base station / radio room. AC to DC power supply for typical everyday use, battery backup with battery management system, small solar backup system, (unit takes in power supply, batteries, and solar, and manages it accordingly to supply power to equipment while either charging batteries or switching over to batteries when power goes out). From there it goes through a power guard system that shuts down the system for over or under voltage etc. from there it goes through a battery monitoring system that supplies all the desired analytics, and finally into a DC distribution panel. Also have a DC to AC inverter for small emergency uses....Giandel 1200/2400 Pure Sine Wave.
Power Poles are a great choice for east connect/disconnect and compatibility within our systems

I really like this simple system design and the Battle Born lithium batteries, but I want to scale it up. It seems to me if I wanted a higher output inverter and more solar, I would need higher capacity battery bank to work well with the higher charge and discharge rates. Have I missed something? The other question is about grounding and surge suppression since I won't be doing this on an RV, but a small system to tinker with at home. If I have a combiner box for the panels, would I just connect the surge suppressor to the negative bus bar and also the earth ground using the same bus bar terminal for both? Thanks

Will, great videos! You've convinced me on the 24v Battle Born set up for our van build, but I need to run a roof top a/c unit where we live and while driving (I'll use a soft start so the inverter can handle it). I'd like to have 3 charging sources: 600w solar, 14vDC from vehicle alternator, and 110vAC from grid/generator...is there a charger you know of that can handle these multiple different inputs or do I need 3 seperate chargers?

Great stuff Will. I am installing this exact set-up in my Class A RV. Should I include a Disconnect switch or two someplace?

    Will,
You have been a lot of help. One comment when doing RV hook up the first thing to look at is the rv grid power plug in. Is it 240 vs 120, that makes a big difference in the system ordered and set up. My coach is a 50 amp 240v. I designed for a 120v system. Its ok because running on 30amps is just fine and better for the Lifepo battery. My coach has an auto transfer switch to switch between shore power and the generator. I now have to add a second auto transfer switch that is 240v so I can switch between the solar / battery inverter to shore power/generator. I have the system mostly put together but still have to mount the 24v solar panels. This would be good to know when putting a system together.

question about the battery protect- is this just insurance on top of the battleborn bms? What do you use for the settings in this particular system?

Would this system support a 1400 BTU air conditioner in a travel trailer as well as the 6cu foot refrigerator and for how long?

I am putting a system together and really would like your advise but it seems that you rarely comment. I do believe you are the best in the field and great educater but responses seem to be the lack of area I feel. I like most, just do not want to get things wrong and the questions I have are very simple that you would have the answers on top of your head I am 100% positive.

Y K also seems simple and cheap enough to expand...as in build a second setup and power different appliances from that one. Personally, I’d like a two system setup. When one breaks for égaré et reason you still have the other to run critical infrastructure and lights.

Wonderful video as usual, Will. I'll be interested in your retired batteries if they are affordable.
