You have to be real careful pulling the spark plug boot off the spark plug. I have had all kinds of problems with the one on my ms241. I will bet your coil is good and what happened to your spark was the bayonet lug came off of the coil wire. On day, several years ago, I was cutting some stumps off in my back yard and ran out of gas. I refilled both tanks and it would not restart. After an hour or so diagnosing what was wrong I found the loose bayonet lug on the coil wire. I repaired it and it cranked right up. I spray WD40 into the boot and the lug goes in a lot easier. I have had lots of problems with my 241. I will never buy another Mtronic saw.
Hi! Got tip on the spark wire! It wasn’t the fault on my saw, checked it before changing but it could happen to someone else i guess. To bad you have had problems, I mostly hear good things about the Stihl Mtronic saws but as anything they can fail too.
@@NilsKall I am a Stihl man but I scratch my head on some of their stuff, like why in the H they put the deco valve in the top of the cylinder, instead of in the side, like husky. Makes cranking a lot easier, especially with thumpers. My 372 XP cranks a lot easier than my ms 460, which like to try to Duck me back into the starter from time to time. With a dime mounted deco valve you have to run the saw real rich to crank it.
Going through it with a 241 at present too. Dealer can't fix it, compression and crank seals are perfect. €450 spent on carbs solenoids, etc, etc. No better!
I have a stihl ms 241 cm too. I have bought it 4 years ago (brand new).Unfortunately I have a lot of problems with it. When hot, it just starts after multiple pulls even with brand new plug, air and fuel filters. It’s a shame, I would expect more from a professional stihl saw. And it overheats very easily:(
Sorry to hear that, my 241 was bought used so I don’t know how much it has been used before me. Except for this control module problem it has been flawless. I don’t use it that much so its not indicative of the overall quality of the 241s.
@@NilsKall Thank you for your reply, i have done some research, and i found out that the solenoid valve can be the problem. This part is very fragile, and quite unreliable. The failure of this part can lead to symptoms like mine (bad starting when hot).
Wait until you try to out that pos into storage condition or run it out of gas. I looses its mind, if it ever had one. The 241 is a nice little saw if it decides it wants to run.

I had to put it in the ultra sonic for 15 minutes for the carbon to get soft enough to get it out. I burned it clean and cleaned the muffler and she fired right up and ran fine. I bought it new in ‘16 and only have 14 tanks on it but it has experienced numerous little problems. I check my other saws that have spark arrester screens on them and while they were dirty from running Stihl Ultra they were not blocked over. I did burn them clean and put them back in. So, it really was not my method of operation, otherwise they would have been blocked, too. They were not. My 251 was the dirtiest of them and it was not blocked over and it is 7 years old. It has a screen identical to the 241. Stihl need to put a reset button on the saw, like Carl, alt, del on a computer.

Mine has worked great after changing that coil last year. There is a calibration process to do but perhaps you have done it on your saw?

Piła ta ma już ponad 10 lat więc nie mogę liczyć na gwarancję po tak długim czasie.
