When I found out he was double coat I apologized and now when I use the coat king to card & strip, he gladly comes to me for grooming. Its always a peaceful chore when you do the right thing. If I were a professional groomer and the owners demanded a shave Id refuse their business.
My Jack Russell hates clippers, but enjoys having his coat stripped, that is, the longer hair pulled out, rather than clipped. It's not such an easy way to groom, but the coat comes out short, very smooth, and very even. I spend an hour or two every other week with a stripping knife and a rubber glove, and get excellent results.
You read the signals so well. This isn’t the first ‘aggressive’ dog who has been happy to trust you!

Lord know I have a Jack Russell mix and I am the only one who can handle him. He will but in one second. You have a very hard job.
