Sidenote, Thank you Stu for using 3 point lighting with the backlight so I don't have to see the green screen keying....Looks great, great job on the production of it. Thanks for the video on Pinpoint...I was looking for a new client and I think I just found it.

Thanks for the video, Stu. Very informative. But I am having trouble with the Smartmodem software keying my FT-991A on HF (D-LSB mode). I have not tried it on VHF. The PTT port setup seems not to be working. I have tried setting the CAT port directly to the COM port that I know works with the FT-991A, and I have also tried routing through Win4Yaesu. In neither case will it key the transmitter. I have played around with the settings on the FT-991A, like the Data PTT Select and CAT RTS enable, but no combination seems to help. No problem keying the transmitter with other software such as WSJT-X via OmniRig to Win4Yaesu or FlDigi routed to Win4Yaesu. And I can read packets coming in on Softmodem and attempt to send packets, but the transmitter never keys. Any suggestions?

I'm having similar issues with my IC705. It decodes ok and displays on the map but I can't get it to key up the tx. I get can't find ptt.dl and cat.dll when I change the ptt port to PTT and CAT.

Thank you for a very informative video. I have a couple of questions. First, how did you get the TCP/IP address needed for the Options-TNC menu? Second, how can I determine which TNC type is equivalent to the MFJ TNC-X Packet Controller (MFJ-1270X)? Any information would be helpful.

      Hi Randy,
Since you are not running TCP-Kiss, you don't actually need to use the network settings at the bottom of the page. Since I was running Soundmodem software to emulate a TNC I needed to match the settings in that software.
As far as the MFJ-1270X setup. Just select KISS Serial for the TNC type and put in your com port info. That should get you going!
      Hope that answers your questions,
      Stu

Where to set up so that our station will appear in Thailand at the coordinates of where I am?

      Hi HS6YHE,
Under Options go to the GPS tab. You can set your Lat and Long of your current location manually, or record it from your attached GPS.
      Hope that helps,
      Stu

Where to set it in Thailand

      Hi HS6HYE,
As far as I know, Pinpoint APRS only supports the English language. Although this can make the setup a bit difficult when fluent in another language, the actual use of the program is kinda language independent.
You certainly can reach out to the author to see if there are plans to include additional languages. His website is: www.pinpointaprs.com/
      Hope that helps!
