Jayvee, I gotta do this. Im sorry but, I'm going to get "sappy" and long but, I'll try to condense as much as possible. My parents both passed away when I was still relatively young 2001 for my mom I was 15, 2003 for my dad 17. MUSIC ALWAYS HAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE "BIGGEST" THING THAT KEEPS THEM HERE WITH ME. I often "cry" watching your reactions but, in the BEST way possible lol. Let me explain. For example... PROUD MARY by Tina Turner. Dude, I genuinely have actual memories of me DANCING with my DAD when I was like 5-6 on a tug boat while literally rolling down the Mississippi river. I have REAL memories with my parents to almost all the songs you react, too. I can honestly remember my dad pointing to me sometimes and saying "Suga pie honey bunch..." and I would point back at him and we would say together "You know that I love you!!!!" and we would start dancing and singing and finish the song...." So, I just want to say THANK YOU for bringing "special memories" like this randomly back to me!!!! I wish so BAD he were still here because I KNOW he would love watching your reactions and musical journey just as much as ME!!!!!!
RheaP XLIV That totally brought tears to my eyes. My Mum is still with us (she’s 92 now and suffers from dementia), my Dad is long gone, but I understand what you mean about these beautiful, touching songs. I lost my little brother to cancer this past January, he was only 49 years old. And I lost my sister to suicide in 1991 at the age of 31. The song for me that’s the most difficult to hear is David Gilmour singing Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish you were here’. I’m so sorry for your loss. And thank you for the tears. Sometimes we just need a good cry to appreciate the day and where we came from. Bless your heart. 💖💜💙
It is, truly, HAPPY TEARS. I had my dad for 17 years and it's now been 17 years that he's been gone. Music has the power to bring back REAL MEMORIES... not photos or even videos are as powerful and SPECIAL as the memories I carry with me and for that, I am forever grateful. Thank you for sharing your story and I'm sorry for your losses, as well. 😔 I feel the same way about Pink Floyd "Wish you were here". My dads and mine #1 song will always be "Too much heaven" by the Bee Gees. My dad especially pointed out the lyrics "Everything we are, will never die." He explained to me even after he was gone or even me, NOTHING would ever change or take away what we had then in those moments. Nothing could ever make them "fade" no matter how much time passed.... And, THIS right here is a perfect, clear example of how very, very right he was!!!! And, I gladly welcome the HAPPY TEARS moments like this brings.... even from the most "unexpected places"....
Wow I'm so sorry for your loss I couldn't imagine the pain of losing both parents. I'm glad that my reactions and through the music you were able to remember all the happy times and memory you guys had. It's so important not to let go of that. We're all here for you
Thank you for sharing your precious experiences with your mom and dad. I know they had to be very proud of you. Don't think they are not with you. They always will be. I love that you shared beautiful music together and were able to connect with each other through it. I love watching Jayvees channel too. I feel like all of us watching are able to escape this world for a moment and journey back in time together when music was at its finest. I wish you well and pray for many fine blessings to come your way. 🌷🌸👋💮🌼🐱🎁
Get it Jayvon! That's the magic of Motown, it makes you wanna move, dance, and have a good time! This was my dad's favorite 4 Tops song, and I'm 61 now and remember him bouncing me on his knee to this song, singing to me "sugar pie honey bunch", hearing him sing it made me giggle!!! You must react to BERNADETTE, and STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE on your upcoming Four Tops special. They're Fantastic!
I was 7 years old when we came to the U.S. from Mexico in 1964. Some of my best memories were of my sisters playing all of these Motown artists, while getting ready for school.
The Four Tops were one of my Mums favourite groups and she used to sing along rocking sideways with a little one in her arms. I think we all (8 children) got our great love of different types of music from Mum, and just like her none of us like jazz lol. I like Motown Monday, great music that gets the feet tapping and if I were able I'd be dancing away. Thank you Jayvee, you picked a fabulous song to play sweetheart. Take care and stay safe please everyone. Peace love and hugs to you all Mary-Ellen UK
This may be the video of a live performance, but this is the actual studio version audio, which is the best version to listen to. It did my heart good to hear you say, "It doesn't get any better than this." I agree completely!!!
This is in my top 50 playlist for fav songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s. You're right that these songs must be seen in a live version. The visual is as wonderful as the music.
We all listened to this music growing up. I still have Greatest hits Vinyl LPs of Four Tops, Temptations, Fifth Dimension. Not sure if I have Supremes. I think my sister has it lol.we listened to all types of rock and soul. So much good music.
What An Awesome Reaction. Font hold back Get the Body Moving🎼🎧Woww have not heard this song in a very long time. I Love the Four Tops! Have always loved this song. Again another one I grew up listening to♥️
I've heard The Spinners and other groups have said The Four Tops would never show up for choreography and that's why they just have that little sway thing. Hahaha......they can still SANG tho.
@@catmother4214 The Four Tops were a touring act for the cabaret supper crowd (which didn't require much dancing) BEFORE they recorded for Motown and backed Billy Eckstine in concert. The only thing they felt they needed from Motown was a hit, which Motown gave them in abundance!
The Four Tops were so smooth with a great beat. They really were tops. The synced moves they made were often called "Steps". It wasn't as choreographed as some pop entertainers do today. It was a popular feature for a number of groups and bands in the early sixties (pre-choreography).
The Four Tops churned out one hit after another, starting in the mid 60s. This gem was from '65 and was a #1 smash hit. My personal favorite, "Standing in the Shadows of Love" was a year later. Everything they did was 1st rate. How could it not be, with Levi Stubbs at the helm
Jayvee, glad to see you feature the great songs from MOTOWN, songs I grew up with. This song was a winner and so was the 4 Tops. Don't forget some of the other MOTOWN groups like THE SUPREMES, TEMPTATIONS, RARE EARTH AND SMOKEY ROBINSON. Why can we have music now like we had with these great soul groups of the 60's and 70's. I also have to give a holler to THE DELFINICS, STYLISTICS, SPINNERS, DRAMATICS AND HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUENOTES. I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL BUT I ALSO LOVE RHYTHM, BLUES AND SOUL.
The Four Tops is an amazing group and one of the things I loved most about them was that they were all very friendly people! They partied with the audience after the show! I loved this about them. Thank you JV for sharing the memories! ❤️
I was so in love with Levi ❤!!! If your were in a group back in the day, they all wore the same outfits. You shld also listen to "Are You Man Enough" by them! I think you'll like it!!!
This is SUCH a classic song! I was nine years old the year this came out, and would squeal with delight everytime I heard it played on the radio. I loved it then; I love it now. They did, indeed, have it all! Great reaction!
I don't like to claim favorites, but this is one of my favorites from The Four Tops. I have distinct memories of dancing to this, a 12 year old kid with his first grade school crush, in her family room with a stack of 45's on the console stereo, dancing for hours with her, and her Mom, and her sister. This is pretty close to as good as it gets.
Liked this before watching because I love this song! I know you will, too!❤ Yep! Great reaction! I'm just surprised you were still sitting! I had to get up and shake what my momma gave me. Sugar-pie, honey bunch, you're doing a great job and doing God's work, uniting people with good music, good times and great oldies! Keep em coming!
Your smile says it all...lol. It makes me happy to watch you truly enjoy old school music. It was the soundtrack of my youth. I'm glad I was a '60s kid and a '70s teenager.

Levi Stubbs had one of the best Motown voices. Love all their songs.
True GOAT ...
Best voices in any era. He was amazing!
Voice so strong!
🔥
I have to disagree, Smokey Robinson had the best voice of motown..
At a reunion concert in the 80s with the Tops AND Temps WE ALL were dancing in the aisles!!

One of the best of Motown - love it so much, Saturday evenings in the UK dancing to their fantastic music - still enjoy it even though I'm 72 !
"It's the Same Old Song" is a great one of theirs.

Bonnie Pointer of the Pointer Sisters covered Can't Help Myself in the late 70's and had a top 40 hit with it. It also hit the Disco Chart as well!
Pointer Sisters’ “Slow Hand.” The best.
This is what the world needs, more happy uplifting music, hope someone can make it happen!
Loved their songs! 😁 and their dances
Motown is an eternal vibe🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

They were so good.
I love the Four Tops. I wish they would bring back that old music and start playing it again in 2020. I think many young people would really like it. It was so nice to see Jay V so happy and excited and to share our love of the Four Tops.

Still great as it was when I first danced to this...back in the day😃
How could you possibly not love this Motown stuff?! Looking forward to MORE!
I’m 43. This song never gets old after roughly 35ish years of it being in my brain. Not that many Motown songs do but dear lord this songs slaps.
I love the synchronized grooving of the male Motown groups of this time! And these matching outfits are a lot more subtle than some of them - but it was the sixties and early 70s, and wow, everybody wore wild stuff. :)
I still have The Four Tops Greatest Hits vinyl LP. They are timeless great music!!!
One of my all time favourites. My no 1 is Isley Brothers......This Old Heart of Mine.I was 17.Best wishes from Scotland.
Reminds me of my childhood and hearing all of these wonderful groups.
