It’s more than just gaming. The economy sucks. I just had to cut stuff last night because my raises aren’t keeping up with the inflation and I’m far from the only one doing so.
The Assasins Creed situaiton is simple. Everyone can see UBI took the bait to shove D.E.I into their game, and this time, it was not just off-putting, but down-right disrespectful. I don't even give my money, let alone my time to games that drive extreme political agendas, but this is even worse. This is THE ONE time they make a game set in Japan, a game that is heavily anticipated, and they couldn't resist "making a statement" and showing the "diversity" in "history" with this setting.
Ubisofts problem is their games are wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle. They fix that then they won’t have any problems because they have interesting settings and worlds.
They should have taken Yasuke out of the game and made him a DLC. They did this all wrong. Yasuke should have never been a playable character from the start. He should have been DLC so players get a choice of they want to play with him or not and with that, they could have never released to save face. Now they have a game that could have been a potential hit just bombing at launch. Ubisoft messed up big time. The last game they made thay was good was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. After that, they went to the crapper
Exactly my point and after that DLC , they could have made another Japanese AC with Yasuke as the lead But on the bright side AX shadows helped expose Lockley and his fanfiction History

Ubisoft is so out of touch with reality and the mass majority gaming audience. Were absolutely tired of this and Assassin's Creed Shadow along with Dragon Age is going to fail like Concord until these game publishers stop producing sweet baby inc games for "modern audiences" that don't exist.
They had Yasuke stand on the graves of war victims. The AC:Shadows team never ceases to highlight their utter lack of understanding Japanese culture. A recently released figure for AC:Shadows showcases the 2 protagonists posing on a half-broken Tori gate. Turns out the half-broken Tori gate is a Japanese memorial symbol for the death and destruction of the Nagasaki Nuclear bombing during WWII.
I love the Assassin's Creed original trilogy, I view AC 1, 2, Revelations & Brotherhood and the good parts of AC3 that involve Ezio & Connor as a single game, I would love for someone to refine Revelations/Brotherhood/AC3 into a single distilled Directors cut one day, this would make a perfect trio of AC games, I really enjoy AC:Black Flag too as it had so many great unique gameplay elements that actually felt fresh, and lastly AC:Syndicate, as I love the English Victorian era it was based in, for me, this is the single most I have ever played one franchise before outside of Nintendo IPs, normally I will lose interest after maybe one or two sequels tops, AC got tired and used up after that, it was just a 1+1=2 formula repeated over & over. What made the OG Ezio/Connor saga so interesting was the story and mystery, it was such a cool concept, the whole retake on man's origins, the little snippets of video revealing new insights and hints of what came before that were revealed if you found enough fragments and deciphered the codex, the one with alternate Adam & Eve running through a fantastic golden city was amazing, and all the page pieces and letters revealing whole segments of story were so well written, as I type this, it's just another reminder of how much more effort was put into making video games prior to 2012-15 or so, the climbing was so much fun and souring of buildings, there are some really cool ways you could go with AC games, if they wanted to make them fresh and new again, bring back the alternate history an origin story of mankind, the apple, a futuristic city with technology and so on, Assassin's Creed combine with Cyberpunk, lots of synth music, a battle with good & evil on a cosmic scale, that is where AC should have gone, the apple story was so interesting. Glad I have the original AC saga on the XB360, and BF/Syndicate also, I also have AC1 Director Cut on GOG, would be great if GOG gets the rest of the Ezio/Connor AC games.
Agree, but I’d say they are not giving fans what they want and inserting their personal Preferences. Also not putting out finished products and making you pay more For the full game.
I think it needs to clarified that the *AAA SPACE* is the specific portion of the industry that is showing softening/weakness. AA and indies are doing just fine … thriving in fact 😌
Ubisoft deserves every little bit of downfall they are now facing. They have no one to blame but themselves... they've burned out their customer base by constantly & consistently releasing half-assed & quick cash-grab games too often every year. Games requiring an online connection, especially single player games (why?!) is a big no-no for me also. I've stop buying day-1/new Ubisodt games since Black Flag, with the exception of Crew Motorfest... and that was a mistake 😔
Go woke, go broke. No one asked for political ideology to be shoved into video games. Common sense would say the main character should have been Japanese.
This sucks I was really hoping you Ubisoft would have a chance to turn assassin's Creed into call of duty. Launchers inside of launchers with advertisements for more launchers.
My amateur take: big name video game companies are investing too much time/money in to game to take risks. But the time between starting and completing development is taking too long, and the market has changed too much in that time. So games that were calculated safe investments are being released to a market that would have enjoyed that game years ago. So, the big company has to fire people and let go of whole divisions to keep from going bankrupt. So then they purchase an indie game studio that's been making waves and creating good games because they are taking risks and pushing boundries. They give them time and money to invest, and repeat the whole process again.
They should remove this from the Assassin's Creed series and make it part of the Tengai Makyou series. Tangai Makyou was a popular RPG series based off of the Westerner's misinterpretation of Feudal Japan.
You forgot to mention how they wanted to ship One-Piece merch as their original collectible items! 😂 Ubisoft and EA devs larping as "Bioware" are the two husks that need to go. ASAP.

wait I know you... aren't you the guy who keeps repeating this sentence every year and then buy Ubisoft games anyways
How is every character interacting with Yasuke not freaked out by him!?
It's medieval Japan. It'd blow the mind of every one who sees him.
There'd be mobs of curious children following him everywhere he goes.
Im black and I was taking aback when i saw that it's yasuke we'll be playing as, i was kinda annoyed but i was like you know maybe there's a reason for this, then I saw that the ninja was a female and I was even more turned off and see what they're doing. As a black man, im NOT buying this!
The protagonist should have been a male Japanese ninja NOT Yasuke, maybe as DLC but not this! Fk DEI!
Well as a black man I'm definitely getting this. A brotha whooping up shyt in feudal Japan... sounds like a once in a lifetime thing. SIGN ME UP CHIEF

Off to the sidelines with you mr DEI
But then I would have to pay for DLC and I don't want to do that.
This is a reminder that the big corpos inside Ubisoft lied during the last hearings saying that Star Wars and Assassin's Creed were super anticipated and had amazing responses from the public LMAO
I could've never possibly imagined that putting a black dude as a samurai in a game could cause this much outrage and controversy.
They were afraid they would get the Trump treatment. Also, the Japanese people are very much into their culture because they have one.
We need an entertainment industry crash, movies, music and games, all are trash this generation.
Facts, video games, music, & movie industries been feeding us garbage 🗑️ for awhile now & they expect us to just keep giving them our hard earned dollars 💰 bet I wont! 😡
Ubisoft needs a good marketing strategy, as Sales Management is ruining the branding
They need to drop their woke ideology.
I don't want to play as a Black dude in Japan, nobody does!
Seriously marketing?? Is that all you see?
The best marketing in the world can't make a bad game good. They need first to make better quality games.
@@alwaysalonesoki1217 strategic marketing include market research, something they clearly should have done before releasing their games, in order to avoid the hole they are in
Ubisoft deserves to go down for disrespecting their core audience. Ubisoft can take this game and shove it. I will not buy or rent anything from them.
The hubris of progressive western developers is amazing
In reality they're not progressive, they're regressive. They're promoting sexism and racism by saying one gender or race is better or deserves representation over another when it is inappropriate.
Capitalism is a right-wing economic system. There's no such thing as a progressive company. At least not one the size of Ubisoft.
By “hubris” do you mean “racism” ?
The truth this in china and japan they dont even like black people. So for them to shoe horn on into this game seems intentional
@@Aewon84you are shockingly stupid if you think capitalism is right wing
Ubisoft is so out of touch with reality and the mass majority gaming audience. Were absolutely tired of this and Assassin's Creed Shadow along with Dragon Age is going to fail like Concord until these game publishers stop producing sweet baby inc games for "modern audiences" that don't exist.
Like Baldur's Gate 3?
@@Aewon84 you cant place Baldurs Gate 3 in the same sentence as Concord and Assasins creed 😂

Everyone was begging for this game for years. It should have been an easy layup, but as per usual, Ubisoft managed to mess it up.
My wallet is closed to any game with social engineering propaganda in it. No thx. Enjoy going bankrupt, Ubislop!
Damn not even in a game set in Japan can I play as a guy that looks like me 😅
I love the Assassin's Creed original trilogy, I view AC 1, 2, Revelations & Brotherhood and the good parts of AC3 that involve Ezio & Connor as a single game, I would love for someone to refine Revelations/Brotherhood/AC3 into a single distilled Directors cut one day, this would make a perfect trio of AC games, I really enjoy AC:Black Flag too as it had so many great unique gameplay elements that actually felt fresh, and lastly AC:Syndicate, as I love the English Victorian era it was based in, for me, this is the single most I have ever played one franchise before outside of Nintendo IPs, normally I will lose interest after maybe one or two sequels tops, AC got tired and used up after that, it was just a 1+1=2 formula repeated over & over.
It's not a video game crash It's a triple A open world RPG ubisoft crash. Everyone's making the same game and people are getting tired.
Agree, but I’d say they are not giving fans what they want and inserting their personal Preferences. Also not putting out finished products and making you pay more For the full game.

I see what you did there !!
And you're right!
Ubisoft why are you Ubisoft? No seriously.

I don't want to play as a Black dude in Japan, nobody does!
They're French, always at the wrong side of history.
Yasuke is a big deal to me because its an obvious desperate pandering decision that all of a sudden they chose to do for the long awaited Japanese AC.
Heard Prince of Persia only sold less than 500.000 copies that’s not good either.
I called it earlier this year when this assassins creed bombs Ubisoft is done
This sucks I was really hoping you Ubisoft would have a chance to turn assassin's Creed into call of duty. Launchers inside of launchers with advertisements for more launchers.
They saw the new Ghost of Yotei trailer
My amateur take: big name video game companies are investing too much time/money in to game to take risks. But the time between starting and completing development is taking too long, and the market has changed too much in that time. So games that were calculated safe investments are being released to a market that would have enjoyed that game years ago. So, the big company has to fire people and let go of whole divisions to keep from going bankrupt. So then they purchase an indie game studio that's been making waves and creating good games because they are taking risks and pushing boundries. They give them time and money to invest, and repeat the whole process again.
I think they took a big gamble and lost on licensed IPs.
Got your book in the mail today. Can’t wait to get home and dive in!
I really hope this game fails hard, they disrespect japanese culture so much
They should remove this from the Assassin's Creed series and make it part of the Tengai Makyou series. Tangai Makyou was a popular RPG series based off of the Westerner's misinterpretation of Feudal Japan.
You forgot to mention how they wanted to ship One-Piece merch as their original collectible items! 😂
Ubisoft and EA devs larping as "Bioware" are the two husks that need to go. ASAP.
It's racist to say Japanese people are big supporters of culture.
When I was in Japan a few weeks ago I visited a Samurai museum. I asked some of the people working there about this game and Yasuke, one old guy told me some very interesting things about this character. He was, from what I learned, certainly real and seen as a Samurai. However he was indeed bought as a servant originally by his master.
World wide cost of living struggles. People are more frugal as to how they are spending their cash. The video games industry just need to ride this out.
Who knew releasing the same games every year would lead to a downturn in sales
Ubisoft does not have a future.
You never get any results by pulling out. You gotta just leave it in there.
It’s a work of fiction. They should have never apologized. But they felt the need to.
Highest budget of marketing because they flew "impartial" influencers out to Disneyland for a positive review. Even they knew only giving money to IGN, Kotaku and Co. wouldn't cut it! 😂😂
Ubisoft know they messed up!
why is everyone complaining about a game that is not out yet and there is no beta to play and everyone knows that japan is still mad about what logan paul did in the suicide forest and at all the japan historical sites and logan paul did something that no one should forgive after he smashed a game boy advance handheld outside the store he tried to get his money back
What level of evidence is required to accept the possibility that "grifters" might be on to something.
Because if the answer is "none" or "never", you might be in a bubble.
The problem with grifters is that they only point you towards the negative. What about woke games that are actually good, like Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077? It's like conspiracy theories. They are only believable if you're only told one side of the story. But if you look at the full picture almost all of them crumble immediately.
Of course, the anti-woke pipeline IS a conspiracy theory. Which explains a lot.

If Ubislop was smart, they would delay the game and rebuild it from the ground up. They won't though.
Japanese culture changed when westerners forced open their market to world commerce 200 years ago, so the 'culture' represented in the game may have never really existed.
Ubisoft died to me after they gave up on Chessmaster…
I wanted to want Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows but are both hard passes for me due to stupid decisions made for both titles
The real problem is that you don't mention the elephant in the room. And that is woke, culture marxism. Offending an entire nation with their (beautiful and fascinating) history and culture.
Most people are going to boycott this gane if they respect the Japanese, asian culture and history. People want authenticity, not a random black guy wearing a Samurai uniform and wielding Japanese feudal weaponry.

The gameplay is rough. I’m not surprised, their recent games are very consistently trash.
A world where Ubisoft struggles is a beautiful world indeed, that company won't be good till it's buried in the dirt where it belongs.
At this point I fully believe they are going to indeed delay that game and to rework it. If I had to guess I would say they are going to make Yasuke a secondary character and put a japanese samurai at the forefront. If they don't, the game has so much bad buzz attached to it I think it has a very real potential to sink the entire company.
Also there is a conservative set in Japan that could have a major problem with this game, but there are also (especially younger) who probably don’t care (contrary to popular belief anime and gaming is seen as an OTAKU thing in Japan) the cool girls in omotesando, Shibuya and Harajuku probably don’t know what a Ubisoft is!!
why are we sill talking about this company, stop supporting them and move on..
They fumbled this one, a woke company like Ubisoft completely disrespecting Japanese culture. It’s just a game yes, but this was one time they should have had a Japanese protagonist representing ancient Japan. It just looks bad that this protagonist is taking out all these Japanese npc characters.

But I’m a huge fan of yours and you have a pretty good lockdown on gaming news and it’s good that you try to be impartial on this one, but I feel socially. Ubisoft isn't quite getting there right, Star Wars Outlaws could have quite easily have been a Young Han Solo Story and making Yasuke a Main Character and a Samurai, rather than a Hidden Character too Play within the Game would have probably gone done better.
AC: Valhalla had some Historical Facts, most of it is Fictional Rubbish and AC: Shadows is gonna be the same but if you piss off a Country like Japan, you'll be in trouble lol.
Nobody is saying that Yasuke never existed
Yes he Existed but not in this way. It's like giving someone a Gun & They never use it in 1886 then Ubisoft came around & Goes the Greatest Cowboy/Girl in History. Sad part is Yasuke killing the Japanese People off like they are the Bad guys & calling him the Greatest. Like NO! This is Set in Japan the Girl makes more Since at least she Japanese.
