Just cancelled our large wedding/reception venue ! We are now just eloping us two! I can’t wait to have OUR day! Getting glammed up, taking cute pics, saying our personal vows to eachother , a bougie dinner and then fly out the next day to our honeymoon!!!! It’ll be like a long ass date night! Lol can’t wait
Thanks for this video! My partner and I are getting eloped on Kauai in December and then visiting Maui and Oahu :) still cheaper than 99% of the weddings I’ve attended💛
Me and my fiancée were considering eloping initially (she is very similar to you about the large crowds and the anxiety) and then were pressured into having a traditional wedding (her parents are paying) and we feel like we are just compromising too much to please others. Definitely hearing your story makes eloping seem like the best option
Ah I’m sorry you’re going through that!! That was one of the reasons we chose not tell *almost* everyone… But your wedding will be special either way! Just remember, it’s y’all’s day, not everyone else’s. 💗
so glad i came across this! getting married next year on the big island 🤍 and felt that your reasons are 100% the same reasons why we are deciding to elope too. thank you for the tips!!
I was living in HI (Kauai) full time. My family is in MA, the husbands CA and Singapore. There was foolishness from my MIL and I didn’t want a fuss (she did apparently). We decided to elope on a Monday, by Wednesday we were married. Got our license from Pono Market, our officiant knew a photographer that happens to do a lot of the celebrity weddings on the island and since it was short notice got her to do the photos for a fraction of her normal fee. The reason for the fighting, stress, and general hoopla was over and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re ten years this August.
This was so well planned out and helpful! The idea to get ready separately was so cute. My fiance and I are planning to elope soon - we'll eventually have a bigger celebration but we didn't want our date of marriage to be decided by our financial situation :)
Thank you for sharing your experience & tips! This is most definitely helpful. My fiancé & I are planning to get married in Hawaii in September this year. It does take the huge stress off my shoulders in regards to detail if a traditional ceremony & finances.
This was such an entertaining and great video :) Loved it! I'm an elopement filmmaker/photographer in Colorado and can totally relate to the experience of people not really knowing where to go when coming out here. Partnering with a local vendor like a planner or videographer is a super good piece of advice.
Thank you so much! I would 100% recommend a videographer/photographer above all other things you could have for your wedding/elopement bc you can always go back and relive those amazing memories! Best of luck to you and your business! ♥️
Thanks for all the tips! I'm on the fence of either eloping or doing a "traditional" wedding so this was so helpful. May if your elopement and post elopement party was still cheaper than a traditional wedding? Any tips on post elopement parties?
marramags aw so glad I could help! Congratulations on your engagement first off ♥️ It honestly depends on what you would want your traditional wedding to include. For us, we had to think about travel expenses on top of everything else so with that + elopement planner (all vendors were worked in that price) + reception when we got back home (venue, decor, guitar player, food), we were looking at right around 10k. For your elopement party, I would say stick to inviting those close to you- family that you talk to on a regular basis and close friends. We used a local restaurant that had a beautiful garden area for our venue and used their food of course which included plating, tables, chairs etc so that saved a ton of money as well. The experience and intimacy of an elopement made it all worth it so if we could go back, we wouldn’t change a thing. Whatever you decide to do, just make sure it’s what y’all want to do bc after all, it’s YOUR day! 💗 best of luck!!
When I marry my fiancé, it will be our second wedding. Both of us have done the big white wedding and party and hated every second being the centre of attention and the crowds of people and family drama. We are definitely eloping this time, and spending the day together doing what makes us happy instead of spending a fortune on something which will stress us out.
Thank you for sharing your experience and tips 🤍congratulations! My fiancé and I are planning to elope next year but are thinking in another country have any tips for that legal situation?
Aw congratulations!!! Unfortunately I don’t know much about the process in other countries but what I can tell you for certain is that Google will be your best friend! Congratulations 💗
Did you have all of the traditional elements in your reception? Noted that you wore the same wedding attire, but did you also have the parent/child dance, wedding games, DJ, etc?
We had some but not all! We cut the cake together, did our “first dance” (although we technically had our first dance in Hawaii) + I danced with my dad and my husband danced with his mom, and we had an acoustic guitarist there! But no speeches, walk out to music, games, etc!
Aw congratulations Sarah!! That’s so exciting! Of course I don’t mind. We used YOUMEMAUI! I actually have links to all vendors we used in the description box of our actual elopement video which I posted a couple of months after this one if you want to check it out! 💕
Hey girl! They really were amazing 😭 Their website is www.youmemaui.com and there’s a section on there where you can make an inquiry for them to reach out to you! I promise you won’t regret it! 💗🥰
Thank you, Erika!! ☺️ Of course, I’m happy to help in anyway I can! So you’ll of course have your travel expenses (hotel, flights, rental car) which will differ depending on where you choose to go- ours was between 4k-5k. Our wedding planner was YOU ME MAUI and they handled all vendors and upgrades- photographer, videographer, flowers/leis, hair/makeup, officiant, etc. and that was just under 3k but this was almost a year ago so their prices could have changed since then - they were AMAZING though! And then you’ll want to calculate in your dress, groom attire, jewelry, the basics :) So overall it costed us less than 8k. It was so so worth it and I would highly recommend it if it’s something you’re on the fence about!
Elmy Peralta Hi Elmy! I used YOUMEMAUI- they are two sisters who started a business doing everything from weddings to engagement/date night set ups! They were amazing!

Omg! I feel same way. We are eloping for same reason. We both have anxiety and don’t want to be stressed. Thanks for this video!
YES!!! I’m excited for y’all! Y’all will love it! 💕🙌🏽
If you come to Oahu check out Picnic Palace Hawaii. We had a romantic picnic after our elopement on the beach and it was everything!!! ❤

I would love to elope one day ( I don't have alot of family/ friends). I thought about doing a Hawaii cruise/ wedding, to see all the Islands.
I absolutely loved it!!

Do what makes you both happy! Lunch, swimming, kayaking?
Hi! I was wondering if you would share where you stayed for your honeymoon and would you recommend it?
Of course!! We stayed at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Lahaina and absolutely loved it!!
